1) Teachers must understand that assessments determine public perception and are used for teacher evaluation and improving instruction. There are basic principles to consider when constructing tests such as clear directions, avoiding ambiguity, and using age-appropriate vocabulary. 2) A good teacher provides students with various skills and attitudes to help them succeed. Teachers must be fair evaluators, adept managers, and skillful leaders. They should adopt a fair attitude when evaluating students. 3) Test construction requires careful planning and preparation using a table of specifications. Teachers should provide clear, simple directions and avoid vagueness to prevent student failure due to misunderstanding instructions.

Principles of Test of Construction

This topic is a very important one. You need to know how to construct different kinds of test, test is not

just designed casually or in systematic manner. We all know that there are rules and regulation. but before that

What was the most meaningful part that I learned? Teachers must understand that today’s assessment determine

public perception, are used for teacher evaluation and improve instructional quality. There are many different

types of test but there are some basic things that all teachers should consider when constructing them such as

making sure the direction are not unclear, avoiding ambiguous statement, avoiding unintentional clues, using

simple sentences and keeping the vocabulary suitable for the students taking the test. I learned a bunch of new

information that I was not aware of regarding assessing students over their affect. This topic was about how to

assess students’ affect and gives helpful strategies and advice for this type of assessment. This topic informed

me that if we, as teachers, do not assess our students’ affect then we may be harming our instructional

assessments and our classroom in general. We need to be aware of our students’ attitudes, values, and interests

when it comes to school in order to plan around those things. All of this information affects me and my future

classroom in that now I know that there is a formal assessment for learning about students’ affect. I am now

capable of producing an affective assessment for my future students because I realize the importance of this

assessment and the consequences, good and bad, of doing and not doing this assessment.

According to (Oindo,2013) a teacher holds of the most influential and crucial jobs in the country

providing the future generation. Indeed, in the hands of a teachers lies a big responsibility that defines the

direction that a student may possibly through. As such, a teacher needs to give himself with various skills and
attitudes. Allan (2003) also described a good teacher as somebody who must be interesting, dynamic and have

the vocation to teach students in order to help them achieve success in their profession. Moreover, a teacher

must be a fair evaluator, an adept manager and skill full team leader. He must be somebody who always adopt a

fair attitude when it comes to making form of evaluation.

We teachers should bear in mind that test construction is not only a matter of giving questions for the

students to answer because it is quarterly requirement but it has to include our mind, heart and dedication. It is

actually a process that take time and that it must be done with a lot careful studies and preparations.

There’s a lot of realization that we need to keep in mind as we reminded of these qualities of a good test.

First, be careful in planning and study in test construction. This means that test making does not happen

anywhere at any time but it requires ample time and preparation by the teachers. This is where table of

specification comes in.

Another realization I got from this topic is on the need for us, as teachers, to present clear and simple

directions for the test takers. This is because the direction itself is already a part of exam so if the takes does not

understand our directions, definitely he/she will also fail. According to Rowman and littlefield (2010) helping

your child learn to follow directions exactly is an important way to prepare her for test success. Giving simple

and comprehensible directions is very essentials in test construction because even if the student is well prepared

for the exam if the instruction is vague, it will just result to his/her failure.

I can therefore say that the result of a test maybe considered reliable when the test was done with a

watchful deliberation by us, teachers. If we do so, we expect a better output from our students. We should help

our students understand the purpose of test taking activity by coming up with test that are really focused on the

holistic development of the students. It may be hard to become perfect in preparing test question but the

possibility of becoming one comes easily when we put our heart and mind for this purpose.

To sum up. Examinations must have intended to teach students and not reinforce their weaknesses. We have

to keep in mind that the result of the test is crucial for us in order to meet our departments standard but no

matter what happens, testing our students doesn’t ensure meeting these standards but our teaching does.

In all test, instruction must be clear, unambiguous, precise and goal- oriented. All test must be relevant to

what is learned or expected to be learned. They must meet the learning needs and demands of the learner’s test

should not be too easy or difficult.
