INTRODUCTION
The Philippine economy is strong enough to ride out tighter in monetary
conditions, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said, but increased public
investment is necessary to support growth. The best thing to do as an
entrepreneur is to think for a product that is out of the box. A product that will suit
the taste of the people then it will easily penetrate the market without thinking of
the competitors.
Canarium ovatum, commonly known as pili, is a species of tropical tree
belonging to the genus canarium. It is one of approximately 600 species in the
family Burseraceae. Pili is native to maritime Southeast Asia, Papua New
Guinea, and Northern Australia. They are commercially cultivated in the
Philippines for their edible nuts. The most important product is the kernel. When
raw, it resembles the flavor of roasted pumpkin seed, and when roasted, its mild,
nutty flavor and tender-crispy texture is thought by some to be superior to that of
the almond. Pili kernel is also used in chocolate , ice cream, and baked goods.
Nutritionally, the kernel is high in manganese, calcium, phosphorus, and
potassium, and rich in fats and protein. This is perfect to be main ingredient of
the product of the business by creating and giving new delicacies came from pili
kernel and will give the people a new variety of dessert and “pasalubong” of the
vacationists to their friends, co-workers, families and so forth.
