Denition of Respiratory Protection

Respiratory protection generally refers to the part of personal protective equipment (PPE) that protects the
wearer from respiratory poisons and environmental pollutants. Respiratory protection is generally used in the
eld of occupational safety. Respiratory devices are subdivided into ltering devices and breathing apparatus.
Filtering face masks lter out harmful substances from the air, while breathing apparatus provides the wearer
with their own supply of oxygen independent from the ambient air. If the harmful substance is known about and
there is sufcient oxygen in the ambient air (at least 17 % vol.), ltering face masks are sufcient to work with.
Otherwise, breathing apparatus such as forced-air respirators or compressed air breathing apparatus must be
used. Please note that when chooing and using the right respiratory protection, a detailed analysis is required
of the workplace and the hazardous substances used there. You cannot make the choice based solely on the

The Speciality Series by ZAGOR have been developed to provide light weight, effective, comfortable and hygienic
respiratory protection for particular working environments ranging from welding to waste sorting.

These speciality respirators which protect against dust and mist also feature an integrated activated carbon layer, offering
relief from nuisance odors below nominal protection factor and, depending on the product type, from low levels of
organic vapours or acid gases.
