General Responsibilities:
The Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for Telecommunications& Security Systems
hardware, software and relevant utilities. Monitors performance, and implements comprehensive
integrated System solutions for the organization. Maintains a high level of service on production
systems and anticipates future requirements, trends, and changes.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Provides technical leadership for the enterprise regarding all aspects of voice
communications, including the integration of voice and data. Acts as a subject matter expert and
main point of contact for all Telecommunication issues and evaluation of technologies and
solutions.
• Installs and upgrades of voice communications systems, including analog, digital, VoIP,
voicemail, unified messaging, automatic call distribution, and call accounting for the group
locations.
• Administers, configures and maintains all public network services including local voice
and data circuits, fax services, and audio/video conferencing for the group.
• Coordinates plans and activities within the Infrastructure team regarding new installations,
moves, and changes for Telecommunication systems.
• Initiates and directs special projects to assess and implement innovative voice
communication technologies that improve business processes.
• Coordinates changes in voice communication requirements caused by changes in the
business needs of the organization.
• Tracks voice equipment status and performance. Immediately advises management and
affected staff of any outages or degraded service.
• Provides management with monthly summary reports of circuit utilization, data line
expenses, voice line expenses, contract expirations, and relevant utilization metrics. Reports
include recommendations regarding system capacity changes and upgrades.
• Generates and provides detailed call accounting reports to the managers within the
company upon request.
• Assists in vendor contractor negotiations to ensure the company receives competitive rates
and SLAs that match business needs.
• Works with vendors to maintain up-to-date knowledge of new voice communication
services and capabilities.
• Maintains an inventory of spare parts and equipment consistent with the company's needs.
• Manages maintenance contracts for all Telecommunications equipment.
