Script Sci6 q3 Week 1 Armando Cortez

1) Gravity is a force that attracts all objects toward the center of Earth. It is what causes things to fall down instead of floating off into space. 2) The strength of the gravitational force depends on two factors: the masses of the interacting objects, and the distance between their centers. More massive objects, like Earth and the Sun, have stronger gravitational pulls than less massive objects. 3) Isaac Newton discovered gravity over 300 years ago and realized that it explained why objects fall to the ground and why planets orbit the Sun. His ideas about gravity were inspired by watching an apple fall from a tree.

20 SECS Good day Grade Six learners!

What a wonderful day to learn! As I always say,

a brand new day means a new learning
Gravitational Force | 2

opportunity!

This is Science Grade 6, the world of

exploration, discovery, invention and technology.

50 Before we start today can I ask you one thing.

Did you eat your breakfast? That is good thing! If

you already did then you are now alert and

ready to learn and if you still not, well you are

free to do it while listening to our first lesson in

Science 6. And also make sure you are in

comfortable place far from noise so you can

hear me loud and clear. For your questions or

clarifications you can text me at ______.

12 SECS My dear Grade 6 students please remember that

you are here to learn so make the most out of it.

Stay focused and listen very well.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

10 SECS Now, make sure that you have with you your

pen, paper and learning activity sheets.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

5 SECS We are still on Science 6, Week 1.

20 SECS The learning objectives for today’s episode are

the following:

1. Identify the factors that affect the strength

Gravitational Force | 3

of gravity

2. Differentiate mass from weight

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

10 SECS Now Grade 6, settle down and make yourselves

comfortable as we are about to begin.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

20 SECS Before we start our lesson, let’s have a recap or

review.

In the previous lesson you have learned about

Protection and

Conservation of tropical rainforests, coral reefs

and mangrove swamps.

10 SECS Of course we need to find out if you are really

ready to move to our next lesson Let us have a

fun memory check.

5 SECS Are you up for a challenge? That’s good!

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

20 SECS If the statement is correct, write or comment

WOW HAVEY!

But if the statement is incorrect, write or

Gravitational Force | 4

comment OH NO WALEY. Did you get it?

20 SECS WOW HAVEY or OH NO WALEY!

1. Support project of the government in

protecting the wildlife ecosystem.

WOW HAVEY or OH NO WALEY?

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

10 SECS The correct answer is WOW HAVEY!. Now let

us have Number 2.

25 SECS 2. Join organization that conduct

educational campaign and give

information on how to protect and

conserve the wildlife conservation.

WOW HAVEY or OH NO WALEY?

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

15 SECS The correct answer for number 2 is WOW

HAVEY!

Did you get it? Good job! Here is the last item.

15 SECS 3. Immense or unlimited cutting down of

trees .

WOW HAVEY or OH NO WALEY?

Gravitational Force | 5

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

25 SECS The answer is OH NO WALEY. Because

when trees are cut down limitless forest

animals eventually lose their homes.

Protecting the forests is also a way of

protecting our wildlife.

Were you able to get all three? (PAUSE)

You are amazing!

5 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

20 SECS At this point in time let us move to the next part.

Are you ready to learn how gravity affects

movements of objects?

Now, please settle down because it’s time to

move to our new lesson.

45 SECS Gravity has been around since the start of the

universe and it works the same exact way

everywhere in the universe.

Did you know that without gravity we would float

away off of the earth? Yes! On Earth, what goes

up comes down. All objects are attracted toward

the center of the earth due to gravity. It’s the

Gravitational Force | 6

reason a ball comes back when you throw it into

the air, instead of floating off into the sky.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

20 SECS Gravity is the strange force that makes

everything fall down to earth. All objects have

gravity but some objects, like the earth and the

sun have much more gravity than other things.

50 SECS How much gravity an object really has is due to

how big it is and this is known as the object’s

mass. Gravity is a force that all objects exert but

you can really only feel it from big things. As a

proof, the moon pulls the water from the oceans

to make tides. And also the sun keeps all

planets in orbit with its gravity. The bigger the

object’s mass, the more gravity exerts. I repeat

the bigger the object’s mass, the more gravity

exerts.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

35 SECS Who do you think discovered gravity? Hmmm..

that’s really good question!

An English Scientist named Isaac Newton was

the first person to seriously study about gravity

over 300 years ago. It said that his ideas about

gravity were inspired by watching an apple fall

Gravitational Force | 7

from a tree.

30 SECS He saw an apple fall down and questioned,”

What makes the apple fall down instead of

floating away to the sky?”

He realized a special kind of force which we

now known as gravity was acting in all of the

objects on earth pulling them toward it.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

35 SECS In addition, Isaac Newton stated that the pull of

gravity depends not only on the mass of the

object but also on the distance between two

objects. The greater the mass, the shorter the

distance, the stronger the gravity. Again, the

greater the mass or shorter the distance, the

stronger the gravity.

35 SECS For example, the sun has a lot more gravity than

our planet earth, but we stay on earth’s surface

and don’t get pulled to the sun because we live

here, we’re much closer to the earth than the

sun and the earth’s mass makes a gravitational

pull on the mass in your body.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

Gravitational Force | 8

30 SECS Gravity, weight and mass are closely

interrelated. Did you know that weight is based

on gravity? That’s right! Weight is the

measurement of the force of the gravity on an

object. This means your weight is how hard

gravity is pulling you toward the earth’s surface.

20 SECS Many people use the bathroom scales or spring

scales to measure their weights. If the scale

indicates 70 lbs. then that is how much the earth

attracts your body.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

20 SECS For example the moon’s gravity is only one-sixth

of earth’s gravity so something in the moon will

weigh only one-sixth of what they weigh on

earth.

25 SECS So if you weigh 80 lbs or 36 kg on earth, you

would only weigh about 13 lbs or 6 kg on the

moon. We’ll learn more about that in a few more

minutes so stay tuned.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

35 SECS Many people oftentimes confused in using the

word weight when they mean mass. Mass is the

measure of how much matter there is in a body

or object. Mass is measured in kilograms. An

Gravitational Force | 9

object’s mass does not change. Your mass on

earth is the same as your mass on the moon or

on Mars.

30 SECS Why do you see pictures of astronauts bouncing

around weightless in space? Is this because

there is no gravity in space? No! There is gravity

in space. The astronauts appear to float

because of weightlessness inside the spaceship.

30 SECS The spacecraft and the astronauts are both

moving together under the influence of gravity.

As the earth’s gravity extends to millions of

kilometers in space, it become lesser and lesser

as it goes farther into the space.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

25 SECS Everything on Earth like buildings, homes, trees,

the people, ships or the boats in the sea, the

birds and even the fishes in the ocean stay on

Earth because of Earth’s gravity.

30 SECS Gravity is very important in our everyday lives.

But gravity also is important for much bigger

reasons too. Life on earth requires the sun’s light

and warmth to survive. Gravity helps the earth to

stay at exactly the right distance from the sun,

so it’s not too cold or too hot.

Gravitational Force | 10

25 SECS It is also because of gravity why our moon stays

on its place as it goes around our planet Earth.

Without the Earth’s gravity the moon would just

disappear in the space. Oh no! that would be a

big problem!

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

25 SECS So remember without earth’s gravity everything

here on earth will float off into the space. Thanks

gravity! We can walk, jump and run and enjoy

living in on our planet earth.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

20 SECS There you have it Grade Six learners. It’s time to

check how well you understood the lesson.

Before we answer the questions, I will give you

time to get your paper, pen and learning activity

sheets.

5 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

15 SECS Did you get your paper, pen and learning activity

sheets? Ok, now let’s continue. You could ask

the help of your parents, guardians, or sibling in

answering and checking.

60 SECS Now flip your learning activity sheet on page 4.

Do you see the word activity 1 on the top of your

learning activity sheet? Again do you see the

Gravitational Force | 11

word activity 1 on the top of your learning activity

sheet? That would be great! Here is the direction

for your first activity. Analyzed the following

situations. Draw a happy face if the

gravitational force is applied or sad face if

NOT. Do this on a separate sheet of paper.

3 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

30 SECS Listen carefully Grade Six, here are the

situations.

1. A skydiver that jumps from a plane

quickly falls toward the ground.

30 SECS Did you get all 5? Well……if you did, here is for

you.. 1..2.3…1..2..3 Wow ang galing galing!

Please don’t forget to accomplish the remaining

activities. Again you could ask the help of your

parents, guardians, or sibling in answering and

checking.
20 SECS BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER

35 SECS Are you still with me Grade 6? Now that we have

discussed gravity, your Final task is to answer

another activity. Are you up for a challenge? I

know you can do it!

Flip your learning answer sheet on the last page.

Do you see the word evaluation on the top?

Again do you see the word evaluation on the
