  • My Conducive Learning Environment: Describes the factors influencing a conducive learning environment and their impact on teaching and learning.

Portfolio 1 My Conducive Learning Environment

Learning environment is one of the most important factors that affect the learner’s learning. It is
something that surrounds the learners and may affect their learning outcome. This includes the
teachers, their peers, the structure of the classroom and the overall school environment. A learning
environment is not just enough for the learner’s learning; it must be conducive to make their learning
experiences more meaningful. For me, a conducive learning environment includes first, having a good
teacher-student relationship that may lead to increase learners’ participation and engagement inside
the classroom. Calling them by names, knowing some personal things about them, encouraging them to
share their ideas in the class, giving them positive comments, appreciating their achievements, treating
them fairly and giving them rewards are some of the ways on how to achieve it. Second, when it comes
to class discussion all the learning materials, instructional materials must be utilized accordingly, a
teacher must also be well prepared about his/her lesson for that day so that if ever that the students
may have confusions or questions about the lesson, it will be addressed immediately. Third, when it
comes to the structure of the classroom it must be well organized, from choosing the right furniture to
arranging them accordingly, properly arranged chairs, clean classroom, well-ventilated area that
maintain the certain temperature for the learner’s comfort, almost complete/compete learning
materials, proper lightings that contributes to the overall appearance of the classroom must be
observed for the learners to have a better learning opportunity. And lastly, to the overall school
environment, it should be a place where learners and all the teachers feel safe from any form of
violence including physical, verbal, and emotional bullying; it should be a place where everybody can
interact with one another and express their ideas freely without any judgments. Through this teaching-
learning will be more meaningful and may result to a positive outcome.
