2=================Issue 144================= 【题目】 "It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value." 【翻译】是艺术家而不是批评家,给了社会一些永久的价值。

Artists create works of art out of passion and a desire to express themselves, while critics evaluate art from a more detached perspective shaped by their own experiences and biases. While critics may provide useful perspectives, their views are subjective and fleeting. In contrast, the most significant artistic works stand the test of time by conveying lasting, universal human truths that continue to resonate with audiences. It is the art itself, not critics, that provides enduring value to society.

【题目】"It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value."

I strongly agree with this contention. Our world does not only consist of concrete

objects, moreover, there are something intangible but we can feel and sense it with

our passion and soul. That very thing we call it art. Artist's inspiration and creative

works reflect his and her emotional feelings and call on us to resonate. Conversely,

critics, who function as the judicial judger of art, may be veiled by their lack of

creation passion and limited knowledge and experience. Moreover, it is always art

work itself may give us something permanent, critics, however, may just put some

icing on the cake.

First of all, I want to talk about with what motivation do artists create heir work?

Simply enough, it is the visceral passion and impulse for a certain goal. They may

fashion it by means of music, painting and novel. Nevertheless, some people give

their own critique for artist's work which is driven by their milk and bread, their

babbled children and their living standard. These people we entitle them on critics.

Obviously do we see the fact that artists share the purest motivation of their jobs.

(Most of them do not regard it job, rather, they regard it their life.) Giacomo Puccini,

Italian composer, was born in a poor family and at his age of five his father just

passed away and Puccini began his ranger life. Le Ville, Madame Butterfly left us

something permanent, wandering in our soul, confided his enthusiasm just to you ---

the one who sharing his emotional billow. Critics, who are riding on their fence,

having their alert ear on every single sign of trouble, they may be forced by
government, the artist's potential competitor and also by money. Artists, however, they

never betray on their soul and ego.

It must be argued that not all the critics tell their duplicitous feelings in their judging.

But there is a question: how can we, common people, convincingly be persuaded by

critics’ imposing remark? As is known to all, no one can precisely capture other's

subtle emotional ripple. Nor do the universal critics. Mona Lisa, critics just put too

much concern on the smiling expression by different watching angel. Whenever

people have their time to appreciate one, they just keep rambling to see the various

smile. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder rather than critics whose review would

make this glorious painting like a drawing trick. Art is a separate link between you

and the work, so just seize this link and find out what the artist want to convey to you,

what is the feeling during his work he want to share with you. Everyone has his or her

own sense of smile; the former anecdotes may conjure up in your mind, thus weaving

an intangible net between you and the work --- no other person interrupted. With the

help of critic, their points of view just preoccupy our nature feelings and distract us

from seeing the truth.

Finally, there is a word in the topic that reaffirms my opinion, that is the word lasting.

Browse all the significant works in man's history: Michelangelo's David, Beethoven

Symphony No. 5, Shakespeare's Hamlet and Van Gogh's Sunflower. What scars in our

soul is the name of their work, never do critics. Admittedly, some critic's view may
help us better understand the work due to audience's sparse background and relevant

professional knowledge. Paradoxically, it is the work itself gives out its lasing value,

not other factors at all. A work without its inner quality, if manipulated by critics, may

prevail for a period of time but never last for long. Just see some talent shows, these

figure stars are packaged by their broker and company. As soon as their limited luster

dims, audience feel tired of its banal star campaign and these 'star' s name just fade

out as time goes by. They become our topic when we are waiting for the meal at the

restaurant but never the inspiration and illumination in our brooding. Great works can

stand the erosion of time and space and remain the same just as the origin.

To sum up, artist's work which driven by their original creation impulse projects their

sensitive or powerful feeling and passion on it. Critics, may see the work in a

distorted way due to their experience and standpoint that differ from the artist, and

most crucially, seldom do they admit this mistake. In addition, time is the best judger

of criterion to which greatest work conform, not the critics.
