General tips for making resume
. Please make your resume in latex.
. Preferable to include both of your email IDs (gmail and outlook).
. Include links to your github and linkedin.
. Include your phone number.
. Keep uniform font size throughout the resume.
. 1 page resume would be a good one to have, some people keep both 2 page and 1 page resume
ready with them.
. Titles of the projects should not be the name of the project, rather it should be such that the
interviewer gets an idea of what your project does. For example you have made a Food delivery
application however its name is Momato in such a case its better to keep the title as Food delivery
application rather than Momato.
. Start the project description with " Developed a "tech" based "web/app/.." application ..."
. Ideally 1st line of your project description should tell about the tech stack used in the project and the
purpose of the project.
. The 2nd line of your project description should briefly explain what your project does.
. You can always deviate form these but this is something what I prefer after looking at >50 resumes of
my batchmates and seniors.
. Make sure that the project repo is publically visible before submitting your resume.
. In any kind of project of work experience it would be better to include description of the form
"accomplished x as measured by y by doing z ".
. Remember it is very important for one to include relative numbers wherever it is possible in the
resume.
. When it comes to achivements " Secured x rank among y candidates " keep something of this sort.
. Don't keep the dates in the achivement section in bold.
. Only the important words should be kept in bold as too many bold words could act as a turn off.
. You are free to change the order of the sections in the resume.
. You can also add new sections to the resume.
. Some companies focus on CS fundamentals and some on Mathematics so some people do split their
key courses section for including the same.
. Write only those technical skills in the resume which are you sure of please dont fake your technical
skills interviewers can catch your lies very easily.
. Keep only those PORs and extracurricular activities for which you have a certificate. (Max 5-6 points)
. Make sure that everything is evenly spaced and formatting is good.
. Most important part is get your resume reviewed by multiple seniors.
