Target
One of the best things about life is that we never have to stop learning.
There are always new skills to learn and techniques to adopt. For us to live to the
fullest, we must continually look ways to improve.
Learning new skills like navigating the net is essential to advancing your
career. It diversifies your learning journey and helps you develop new techniques to
keep up with the fast changing world. Indeed, learning is also exciting and
rewarding.
These days, expanding your knowledge and skills base is more
requirement than choice for knowledge, like air, is vital to life, no one should be

This module provides discussion about the lesson with corresponding
examples and self-accomplishing activities for you to read and answer
appropriately. The activities are simplified to cater to your needs in improving your
research skills and communication skills too.

LESSON 1: WEBSITE
A website (also written as web site) is a collection of web pages and related
content that is identified by a common domain name and published on at least
one web server. Notable examples are wikipedia.org, google.com, and amazon.com.
All publicly accessible websites collectively constitute the World Wide Web
(www).
Websites are typically dedicated to a particular topic or purpose, such as news,
education, commerce, entertainment, or social networking. Hyperlinking between
web pages guides the navigation of the site, which often starts with a home page.
USES OF WEBSITE:
1. to sell products and services
2. to post and find information on the web
3. to gain knowledge
4. to communicate with each other
5. to have fun

LESSON 2: Type of Websites
1. Blogs
Blogs have been a most loved and preferred choice of websites for
individuals and families who wish to archive the huge events of their lives, for
example, weddings, babies or their precious moments. Blogs are also great for
presenting your personal style, sharing your favourite recipes or showcasing
your hobbies or anything in that case to the world. Blogs are normally
updated habitually, and more seasoned posts can be seen through archives.
2. Business/Corporate Websites
A business site is any site that is committed to depicting a particular
business. It ought to be branded like the company (a similar logo and
positioning) and convey the sorts of items as well as services the company/
business offers. At this point, each company out there, whether big or small,
ought to have a site.
3. E-Commerce Websites
The websites where users can shop and makes purchases are called E -
Commerce Websites. All of would have used these sites a myriad of times, and
they have become a must-have for every selling business.
4. Educational Websites
The sites of educational organisations and those providing online courses
fall into the class of educational sites. These sites have the essential object ive
of either giving study materials to visitors or giving data on an educational
organisation to them.
5. Entertainment Website
Entertainment sites contain consistently refreshed substance on current
undertakings, climate, sports and amusement. News destinations like CNN
and entertainment biggies like ELLE both fall into this classification. The
content on media locales is dynamic, which means it's refreshed normally.
6. Portfolio Website
Portfolio Websites are great for showcasing your work; everyone from
photographers to models are utilising such sites to flaunt their work to
potential clients.
7. Social Media Websites
We are all aware of the giants Instagram and Facebook; who doesn’t know
of them? However, social media comes in various forms. These websites are
normally made to let individuals share contemplations, pictures or thoughts,
or just associate with others corresponding to a specific topic.

LESSON 3: Navigating the Web
Searching the Web requires both skills and patience but, where should we
start?
To enter the world wide web (www), you need to have either of these two:
1. Internet connection or WIFI (it can be a modem or a pocket wifi) or
2. Data subscription (cellphone load)
There are two ways to search for information:
A. Using keyword/s
B. Using Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
Searching Using Keyword/s
Follow the steps wholeheartedly that are provided for you so you can arrive at
the correct output.
Step 1. Open the page first using Google Chrome and enter the texts or
keywords in the search bar pointed by the red arrow to find relevant
information
Step 2. Type in the search bar the topic you want to search. For example,
the word “COVID-19”. There, you will find out several information about the
topic.
Step 3. Click the first search result inside the red box.
Step 4 Click the Back Button to go back to the Home Page.
A. If you’re using a cellphone click the x button as pointed by the red arrow.
B. If you’re using a computer, click the back button enclosed in a red box as shown
in picture
