1) Intro page for a diamond jewelry brochure written at JWT Mumbai
Welcome! We are proud to lay before you our new designs. Brought to life by the best craftsmen for
the very best. You.
You, who are no stranger to the power and beauty a diamond holds in itself. For you, we leave no stone
unturned in bringing forth the brightest, biggest, most exquisite flawless glimmering stones of Mother
Earth. Stones no less than a carat. The most exclusive set of solitaires - Arisia.
Drawing inspiration from the princely times, our new solitaires bear the marks of the two great seats
of beauty & royalty that have withstood the test of the times - Kashmir & Jaipur!
Both collections capture the essence of the majestic and royal times of princely India. A master
craftsman carefully handcrafts each piece. The magnificence of craft that so awed the royals is seen in
each and every piece of precious metal with the beauty culminating in the release of fire through the
single solitaire crowned atop.
As you proceed to see the new creations, look out for that glint in your eye as you behold the royal
jewel that is just right for you.

3) A proposed TVC for Kellogg’s written at JWT
Kellogg’s Frosties TV “The Machine” 30 seconds
A Boy comes out of the dressing room wearing his Cricket uniform after just having bathed. At the
same time, a big vacuum cleaner-like machine about his size comes out from the next room. They both
look menacingly at each other, their rivalry is apparent. The camera zooms into the boy’s eyes as he
stares at the machine in an overdramatic fashion. Then it zooms onto the machine at that part, which
looks like two eyes. There is a visual match throughout the film between the actions of the boy and the
machine.
They turn away, the boy goes and sits at a table and the machine goes to a wall nearby. There is a
whizzing sound from the machine and it starts shaking and vibrating, someone has plugged it into an
electricity point. We see the meter on the machine showing that it is getting charged. Then we see the
boy gobbling up spoonfuls from his bowl.
A ‘ting’ sound comes out from the machine and it stops shaking, it must have got fully charged.
Similarly, the boy is finishing off the milk by drinking it directly from the bowl and then he throws in
the spoon, which makes the same ‘ting’ sound. The boy gets up, picks his kit, and moves to the cricket
ground outside, he feels that he is being followed, when he looks behind, there is nobody. When he
reaches the nets and after he has put the stumps in a place he looks behind to find the same machine
now standing near the non-striker end. The boy readies himself by pulling up his gloves and getting
into stance. Now we know that the machine is in fact a bowling machine as a bowl pops out and the
boy expertly dispatches it away. Cuts of the machine throwing balls and the boy hitting the balls all
over the place.
There is a break in the action, the calm before the storm, the machine is again shaking but this time
out of anger and frustration, and the boy has a smirk on his face. A duel is about to begin. The machine
emits a humming cry and drives forward just like a bowler, the boy takes a few steps forward as if
going for a six.
A super-fast full toss shoots out of the machine as it gives it all it’s got and the ball goes straight for the
boy’s head. The boy now slams it back the way it had come and it hits the machine flat onto the
ground. The machine is shooting balls straight up into the sky.
MVO: New Supercharged Frosties. With Z-Power. (Super: Glucose + Zinc + Vitamin B) Packshot and
Tony behind it says, “Breakfast of the tigers! They are Grrrrrrrrrrreat!”
The kid turns the bat upside down, flicks off some dust from the bottom, and blows some air over it as
if holding a pistol, outside the nets his teammates and Coach Tony the tiger are clapping appreciatively.
4) Reviews of some crowdsourcing sites
Creative Crowdsourcing Reviews - VictorsAndSpoils.com
The closest thing online to an actual ad agency - that’s V&S. They have ECDs, CDs, Copywriters & Art
Directors on their payroll. And we the contestants act as junior/senior creatives bouncing our ideas off
them and seeing if they get a “Yes”, “No”, or “Maybe”.
I’ve won a substantial amount at V&S. First I won $1000 for my TVC idea for Harley Davidson. Then I
got another $1000 from the same brief for doing a small duty of moderating their FB IdeaMachine App
(crowdsourcing from fans). I recently also won $200 for the Clearasil brief. But the thing about V&S is
that it is so nice, so apt for someone who has worked in an agency, that even if I had won $0 I would
still have continued giving ideas for each brief that came my way. It gives you tremendous work
satisfaction to know that you are reading a real live agency brief and that the ideas you are submitting
can be seen/shown to the Global CEOs of Big Brands.
Since V&S is an agency - an online ad agency, the briefs are also just like the ones you would get in an
agency. You can bounce ideas off the assigned CD. They have now made tremendous changes and
improvements. We can now bounce our ideas off fellow crowdsourcing participants and get feedback
on them even before the CD sees them. Noah Clark Sir, the Head Creative at V&S, listen to even a small
guy like me. He personally took feedback on how to improve the site and now new changes are
happening. One other cool thing about Victors & Spoils is that they give you badges like military stars
and medals. How they use this system is known to them alone. They have an extensive team and
everything about them is nice. I am a person who complains a lot but even I cannot find fault with V&S.
Long live V&S. May it grow to become the largest Creative Department on the planet. Long live
Crowdsourcing.
update: HAVAS bought them and nipped ad agencies going online in the bud. V&S lives no more, not as
it used to, not as promoted, not as initially promised anyway

Creative Crowdsourcing Reviews - Various Design-centric Sites
Although I'm a writer, I know how to use design software and sometimes the big prize money entices
me to try my luck at Art Direction/Graphic Design. But I fail miserably at it. Nonetheless, for the
benefit of the Artists out there I'm doing a quick review of 3 design sites. Whatever I have gathered
about them from my trials may be useful info for you.
LogoTournament.com - Without any doubt, the BEST logo crowdsourcing site. They do nothing else,
they specialize in logos, as their name suggests. Not just anyone can join the site. You apply to join at
the time of registration, give 3 samples of your best work and the community seniors then decide
whether to let you in. I got in on my 2nd or 3rd attempt, but the standards were so high and the
competition was so good that I got discouraged from entering any more contests. Their name is very
apt. I wish there was a group of such sites run by a single "Tournament Ad Agency" site -
LogoTournament, CopyTournament, AdTournament, PosterTournament. AdTournament exists, but the
site’s name is a misnomer. They do mostly logo contests, instead of Ad Concept, Ad Creation, Ad
Campaign Ideation contests that one would expect from a site of such a name. Back to LT, I am so
confident about the site and the people participating there that if I ever need a crowdsourced logo I
would go there.
LogoSauce: It is a nice, neat, small, tidy, cozy site with a strong and closely-knit community of
designers. One particular designer, there is the superstar who keeps winning most of the contests,
justifiably so as his/her designs are really awesome. They announce winners quickly and their clients
communicate often and very well with the designers. The community projects a good vibe in their
interactions and comments. Not as much competition as in LogoTournament but still high standards of
logo quality. Yes, they too do only logo contests.
AdTournament: When I saw the name of this site even before clicking on the link, I was excited beyond
recognition. I thought finally, a site where I can enter ad ideas i.e. nice subtle ads of the kind you see on
AdsOfTheWorld.com. But my excitement was short-lived, I opened the site and realized it was just
another logo design/logo crowdsourcing site. True they had some t-shirt contests and print ad
contests, but it wasn’t what I had expected. I really want an ad-contest-specific site (for the moment
only VictorsAndSpoils.com fits into this peg, UPDATE: nope, V&S is not there anymore). But I
nonetheless tried my luck at this site, I entered a few logo and print ad contests, but did not win
anything. They have put some kind of gamification system of badges and points where you can earn
Amazon vouchers and whatnot, it totally fails and is unnecessary. They are not doing justice to the
great domain name they have purchased. They should run it as an ad concept contest site. Basically,
the job that a Copywriter does, i.e. read a client brief and put pen and paper together, and come up
with lots of ideas and ways of doing an ad. They run it like just another logo crowdsourcing site.
Nothing special. I don’t participate there at all now, as my strike rate is 0 after multiple attempts at
multiple contests.

Creative Crowdsourcing Reviews - Eyeka.com
When I found out about Eyeka I was excited. But when I started using it, slowly my excitement started
waning. At first look, the giant prizes they are offering would entice anyone. They have all the big
brands in the contests and big prizes. But somehow it all sounds too good to be true.
I participated only in a handful of contests and won nothing. I keep getting their emails almost 2-3
times a week, announcing yet another big prize pot for yet another big brand. But I simply don’t feel
like clicking on the link and participating.
They take feedback diligently, they have done it a few times with me as well. But I don't know if the
site has changed with the feedback given by contestants. The main problem there is the huge delay
between contest launch and payment to the winners. Their other main problem is that they do not
take scribbles, text ideas, etc. They want 100% fully finished work that the client can take as is and
use. Readymade stuff in crowdsourcing? I think they got this one very wrong.
Still, the contests are big and sometimes they have just idea generation contests as well. The process of
uploading the files is sometimes tiresome and many of my files have been rejected because of one
thing or other. I can’t blame them for this last point, but what I mean to say is, someone is giving you
their ideas for free without getting anything in return, so make it easy for them to do so. They should
also start announcing the winners promptly after a contest closes.
But the fact that they have been running for a long time shows that they keep getting clients and
contestants. Which is good. I wish them all the best and hope they polish away the chinks and become
a leading platform. Marghe from Eyeka was one of my favorite crowdsourcing managers. She left Eyeka
and joined Userfarm. Maybe for the same reasons that I find in Eyeka. But they have invested a lot of
time and money into the site and I wish for them to succeed. They need to put on more Idea Phase
contests like Tongal.

Creative Crowdsourcing Reviews - IdeaHunting.net
IdeaHunting is a Portuguese site, but they are kind enough to accept submissions in English as well. I
won 400 Euros there for an idea for Volkswagen and I was thrilled to receive the prize. The best thing
about them is they celebrate each win by mentioning the winner on Facebook. This lends a lot of
credibility to a Crowdsourcing operation - announcing winners fairly fast, fairly openly, and most
importantly, fairly.
Their system of reviewing ideas is very good too. They have a moderator whom they call a “Hunter”
(coz their site name is IdeaHunting). S/he does a great job of giving comments on each idea you enter.
The site is extensive but very easy to use. They use precise long numbers to code each submitted idea.
The briefs are also very detailed and the community interacts, posts comments, and clears their
doubts fairly well. They are not running as many live contests as they deserve. I wish more clients
would come to them.
The name chosen by them is also very apt and will help them SEO-wise well into the future. All
Creative Crowdsourcing is after all Idea Hunting. The Hunter is kind enough to give you feedback even
if you don’t win or your idea isn’t up to the mark. I have participated in very few contests, I wish there
were more to participate. I wish them the very best, and I will participate in every contest they put
forward.

My below winning ideas in Creative Crowdsourcing for Google+, Sony Logitech Google TV and Intuit Digital Wallet prove
that I'm well wired for technology
gplusideas.wordpress.com
won $1000 for this on Prizes.org
ultimategoogletv.blogspot.com
won $1700 for this on NapkinLabs.com
digiwallet.blogspot.com
won $1000 for this also on NapkinLabs.com
My biggest win financially as well as brand prestige wise was $2000 won for a TVC Idea & Script for Harley Davidson on
VictorsAndSpoils.com, the first and probably last Crowdsourcing Powered Ad Agency - HAVAS bought them and after that, it
totally changed, actually shut down contests, maybe the Network(s) felt threatened, who knows! I also won on the same site
for a Clearasil brief.
The Harley Davidson brief was about making an ad that sold even in the gloom of recession on the new "No Cages"
proposition of HD. The idea, in brief, was a film that opened on what appeared to be a tearful eye, the tears were rolling
horizontally, the VO went "No Job. No Money. No Future. No Hope..." etc., etc., it went on as the camera zoomed out to
reveal why the tears, which were not tears at all, were rolling horizontally because the man was riding a Harley very fast.
The depressive narration ended with "No Problem" just as the whole big came into frame. They were tears of speed. Super
and Logo - HD, No Cages.
The Clearasil idea required attracting the attention of teens, so the opposite sex was dressed as a hot nurse/doctor that
handed over a prescription to the pimple-stuck lover "2 doses of Clearasil and 1 dose of me daily"
I've won other contests & brand challenges too. On Google/Slide.com's Prizes.org, I was ranked #1 in the Business Ideas
category. All my 1000+ slogans submitted on SloganSlingers.com can be read at

Tongal is an example of a probably-not-scam successful site, there are very few such left
some ideas for Lenovo on embrioo.com

Embrioo is an example of a definitely-scam-site that is not even successful, there are tons of such sites
1. Harley Davidson TVC Brief on VictorsAndSpoils.com
An idea that I'm proud of, a TVC for Harley Davidson, it won a $2000 prize on Victors&Spoils, the first (and probably last)
Crowdsourced Ad Agency.
2) Wins on NapkinLabs.com
I won contests for Intuit Digital Wallet (digiwallet.blogspot.com) and Sony Logitech Google TV
(ultimategoogletv.blogspot.com) on NapkinLabs while it lasted.
3) Wins on Google’s Prizes.org
I was ranked #1 in the Business Ideas category on Google's Prizes.org while it lasted, where I won a contest seeking ideas
to improve Google+, see my ideas atgplusideas.wordpress.com
4) Some of my better ideas at JWT Mumbai (2004-2006), here’s one for LIC
And one for SBI Mutual Funds
Copy reads
This was an entry form for Lux Body Wash Style Divas Model Hunt, on the back of a measuring tape
5) A spec idea that I just made and uploaded on AdsOfTheWorld, got on the front page and got replicated across a lot
of creative-ads blogs
5) Proof of my Cannes Trip (won a student contest sponsored by Ad Club of Bombay and TOI)
