Blessed
Virgin Mary
Commentator: Good morning. Mabuhay! Blessed be God for ever! In today’s Gospel we are reminded to
be child-like for us to attain the kingdom of heaven. Let us also pray to the Father in this
Eucharistic celebration that we may deepen our respect for those whom the world holds
in low esteem, the weaker people, and those who require much of our care and concern.
Today is Saturday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time and we commemorate today
the Blessed Virgin Mary. Please all stand as we welcome our Mass presider, Reverend
Father Alfredo Sabado of the Society of the Divine Word.

LITURGY OF THE WORD
The Reader goes to the Ambo and reads the First Reading, while all sit and listen.
A Reading from the Book of Joshua
(24: 14-29)
Joshua gathered together all the tribes of Israel at Shechem, and addressed
them saying, “Fear the Lord an serve him completely and sincerely. Cast out
the gods your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt and serve the Lord.
It does not please you to serve the Lord, decide today whom you will serve, the
gods your fathers served beyond the River or the gods of Amorites in whose
country you are dwelling. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
But the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the Lord for the service
of other gods. For it was the Lord our God who brought us and our fathers up
out of the land of Egypt, out of a state of slavery. He performed those great
miracles before our very eyes and protected us along our entire journey and
among all the peoples whom we passed. At our approach, the Lord drove out
all the peoples, including the Amorites who dwelt in the land. Therefore we
also will serve the Lord, for he is our God.”
Joshua in turn said to the people: “You may not be able to serve the Lord, for he
is a holy God; he is a jealous God who will not forgive your transgressions or
your sins. If after the good he has done for you, you forsake the Lord and serve
strange gods, he will do evil to you and destroy you.”
But the people answered Joshua, “We will still serve the Lord.” Joshua
therefore said to the people, “You are your own witnesses that you have
chosen to serve the Lord.” They replied, “We are indeed!” Joshua continued:
“Now, therefore, put away the strange gods that are among you and turn your
hearts to the Lord, our God and obey his voice.”
SCC Manila | LuVOPSEA Auxiliary and Support Personnel Gathering
So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day and made statutes and
ordinances from them at Shechem, which he recorded in the book of the law of
God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak that was in
the sanctuary of the Lord. And Joshua said to all the people, “This stone shall be
our witness, for it has heard all the words which the Lord spoke to us. It shall
be a witness against you, should you wish to deny your God.” Then Joshua
dismissed the people, each to his own heritage.
After these events, Joshua, son of Nun, servant of the Lord, died at the age of a
hundred and ten
The Word of the Lord.
The people reply:
Thanks be to God.
The psalmist sings the psalm, with the people making response:
R: You are my inheritance, O Lord.
Keep me, O God, for in you, I take refuge;
I say to the Lord, “My Lord are you.”
O Lord, my allotted portion and my cup,
you it is who hold fast my lot
R: You are my inheritance, O Lord.
I bless the Lord who counsels me;
even in the night my heart exhorts me;
I set the Lord ever before me;
with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed
R: You are my inheritance, O Lord.
You will show me the path to life,
fullness of joys in your presence,

the delights at your right hand for ever.
Commentator: Please all stand to honor the holy Gospel.
After this, follows the Gospel Acclamation. The priest, bowing before the altar, says
quietly:
“Cleanse my hearts and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your
holy Gospel.”
ALLELUIA (Mass of Mercy and Compassion)
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Allelu-Alleluia!
Antiphon: Blessed are you, holy Virgin Mary
deserving of all praise;
from you rose the sun of Justice,
Christ, our Lord.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Allelu-Alleluia!
The priest, bowing before the altar, says quietly:
“Cleanse my hearts and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your
holy Gospel.”
The priest then proceeds to the Ambo. There, he says:
The Lord be with you.
The people reply:
And with your spirit.
The priest continues:
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
SCC Manila | LuVOPSEA Auxiliary and Support Personnel Gathering
The people reply:
Glory to You, O Lord.
(19:13-15)
Children were brought to Jesus that he might lay his hands on them and pray.
The disciples rebuked them, but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and
do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. After
he placed his hands on them, he went away.”
At the end, the priest says:
The Gospel of the Lord.
The people reply:
Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
HOMILY
The priest will deliver his prepared homily.
PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL
THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST
When all this has been done, the Offertory Chant begins.
It is desirable that the faithful express their participation by making an offering, bringing
forward bread and wine for the celebration of the Eucharist and perhaps other gifts to
relieve the needs of the Church, and of the poor.

The priest standing at the altar, takes the paten with the bread and holds it slightly raised
above the altar with both hands, saying in a low voice:
Blessed are You Lord God of all creation
for through your goodness, we have received
the bread we offer you:
fruit of the earth and work of human hands.
It will become for us the Bread of Life.
Then he places the paten with the bread on the corporal. The priest then pours a little
water into the chalice, saying quietly:
By the mystery of this water and wine
may we come to share in the divinity of Christ
who humbled himself to share in our humanity.
The priest then takes the chalice and holds it slightly raised above the altar with both
hands, saying in a low voice:
Blessed are You Lord God of all creation
for through your goodness, we have received
the wine we offer you:
fruit of the vine and work of human hands.
It will become for us our Spiritual Drink.
Then he places the chalice on the corporal. After this, the priest bowing profoundly, says
quietly:
With humble spirit and contrite heart
may we be accepted by you, O Lord,
and may our sacrifice in your sight this day

be pleasing to you, Lord God.
Then the priest, standing at the side of the altar, washes his hands, saying quietly:
Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
Standing at the middle of the altar, facing the people, extending and then joining his hands,
he says:
Pray brothers and sisters
that my sacrifice and yours
may be acceptable to God
the almighty Father.
The people reply:
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands
for the praise and glory of His name,
for our good and the good of all His Holy Church.
PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS:
Then the priest, with hands extended, says the Prayer over the Offerings:
May the humanity of your only begotten Son
come, O Lord, to our aid, and may he,
who at his birth from the Blessed Virgin
did not diminish but consecrated her integrity
but taking from us now our wicked deeds
make our oblation acceptable to you.
Through Christ, our Lord.
The people reply:
Amen.
Preface of the Blessed Virgin Mary II
Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit,
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
SCC Manila | LuVOPSEA Auxiliary and Support Personnel Gathering
Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.
People: It is right and just.
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
to praise your mighty deeds in the exaltation of all the Saints,
and especially, as we celebrate the memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary
to proclaim your kindness as we echo her thankful hymn of praise.
For truly even to earth’s ends you have done great things
and extended your abundant mercy from age to age:
when you looked on the lowliness of your handmaid,
you gave us through her the author of our salvation,
your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Through him, the host of Angels adores your majesty
and rejoices in your presence for ever.
May our voices, we pray, join with theirs
in one chorus of exultant praise, as we acclaim:
At the end of the Preface, he joins his hands and concludes the preface with the people,
singing:

THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
SCC Manila | LuVOPSEA Auxiliary and Support Personnel Gathering
The priest, with hands extended, says:
You are indeed Holy O Lord,
the fount of all holiness.
He joins his hands, and holing them extended over the offerings, says:
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
by sending down your Spirit
upon them like the dewfall,
He joins his hands and makes the Sign of the Cross over the bread and the chalice together,
saying:
so that they may become
the Body, ✠ and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He joins his hands. In the formulas that follow, the words of the Lord should be
pronounced clearly and distinctly, as the nature of these words requires:
At the time he was betrayed
and entered willingly to his Passion,
He takes the bread, and holding it slightly raise above the altar, continues:
he took bread and giving thanks, broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying:
He bows slightly:
TAKE THIS ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT,
FOR THIS IS MY BODY,
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
He shows the consecrated host to the people, places it again on the paten and genuflects in
adoration. After this, he continues:
In a similar way, when supper was ended,
He takes thr chalice and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues:
he took the chalice
and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:
He bows slightly.
TAKE THIS ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,
FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,
SCC Manila | LuVOPSEA Auxiliary and Support Personnel Gathering
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT
WHICH WILL BE POURED OT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
He shows the chalice to the people, places it on the corporal, and genuflects in adoration.
Then he says:
The mystery of faith.
SI KRISTO AY GUNITAIN
Si Kristo ay gunitain
sarili ay inihain
bilang pagkai’t inuming
pinagsasaluhan natin
hanggang sa s’ya’y dumating
hanggang sa s’ya’y dumating.
Then, the priest, with hands extended, continues:
Therefore as we celebrate the
memorial of his Death and Resurrection
we offer you Lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly, we pray, that partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
