Tweetfluence - How to Create Million Dollar Networks on Twitter

The Basics

This guide exists to help you make friends on Twitter. It will assume you are starting on Day 1 but these
concepts can be applied to any accounts. Our goal is to make you aware of what is possible.

NOTE: This .pdf is a supplement to the video module, “How to Manage a Million Dollar Network”

The biggest mistake new accounts make is focusing too little on outreach.

Before You Begin…

● Visualize the Town Square: Elon Musk once said, “Twitter serves as the defacto Town Square.”
○ At its core Twitter is a place to share ideas. It is like a Greek Agora. And that is what makes
Twitter beautiful because these ideas are a starting point to make connections.
● Understand: In the early stages you need to be seen (in a good way) in the town square.
● Be Realistic: The BIGGEST mistake new accounts make is thinking that content wins on Twitter. This
is true for only for accounts that already have TRAFFIC. You need people to see your content first.
● Make Friends: I despise the word networking. It’s so sterile. Aim to make real friends instead. Nothing
beats coming onto Twitter and having a group by your friends by you side.
● Focus: Center your energy on creating more traffic toward account.
● Have FUN: Everything becomes so much easier when you are having a good time.

This guide will help you with the 3 ways that you can be SEEN…

1. Comments on the TL
2. Direct Messaging accounts
3. Networking in Large/Small Groups

The supplemental video will cover what to do ONCE you are seen.

Let’s Begin…

“The key to networking is to give more than someone asks for and never
expect anything in return.” - Clint Murphy

Comment Strategies

In the early stage of Twitter, making comments under large accounts is key. You can best achieve this by making
comments under other large accounts. This page will show you how to do it PROPERLY.

● Create a List of Mentor Accounts: Create a list of accounts that you want to comment under. The
bigger the BETTER. The closer to your niche the BETTER.
a. You should follow these accounts.
● Change Settings: Change your settings to see the latest tweets. This will give you an advantage. The
quicker you make a QUALITY comment the higher probability it will pop off.
a. Avoid putting accounts on a list. Just give them a follow!
b. Bonus points if you turn on notifications.

Make smart comments that add VALUE to the conversation. Make comments QUICKLY.

● Add Value: Your main goal is to add something meaningful to the conversation.
● Reflect: Use comments as a way of gauging what works. Every time I have a comment that does well I
know that there is an audience. Use great comments as future CONTENT.

Masterclass Tip
“DON'T comment acktually’s. DON'T make your comment overly long
or wordy. DON'T comment canned responses. Think: 'yes, and', what
comes after the 'and' is your comment.” - Save Your Sons

Direct Message Strategies

Once you have comments and content down you need to focus on meeting SIMILAR size accounts.

● Create a List of Networking Accounts: Create a list of accounts that you want to form potential
alliances with. DM them. Ask questions. Build a relationship. Network.

Recommended Accounts to Direct Message:

1. DM accounts in a similar size range.
2. DM accounts that are in a similar niche.
3. DM accounts that you GENUINELY enjoy.

This is great but how do I approach?

Remember the Ultimate GOAL: Turn Strangers into FRIENDS

General Direct Message Tips: Before you start make sure you open up your DMS.
1. Observe: Go to their account and first take notes. What is it that you love the most about their
account? How do they inspire you? What is your favorite tweet that they have written?
a. TIP: If you can NOT find anything do NOT DM them.
2. Open: Start the conversation by giving a GENUINE compliment. People like compliments.
3. Visualize: Treat the convo like you are at a bar. Twitter is like grabbing drinks after work. Socialize and
try to connect with people. Do not treat the convo like you are a robot.
4. ASK (small): Drop one small ask during the convo for the purpose of keeping the conversation rolling.
Take in mind, the goal is NOT to get something in return (ex. Do you have a tip for newbie account?).
The goal is to flatter. People are secretly flattered when you ask for a small favor.
a. TIP: Research the “Ben Franklin Effect” for more info.

Masterclass Tip
“Show genuine interest in the other person. Approach them from a
place of wanting to build a relationship, not simply using them for
your own personal gains.” - Joey Justice

Examples of BAD DMs (and why)

Don’t be a jerk…

Leaves the reader with a question ...

This is 90% of my DMs. They get deleted.

NEVER ask Googleable questions.

It’s my lucky day!

Do some research before you DM. I was once offered a

sum of $2500 for my Twitter. They forgot a few zeroes :)
Classic example of all balls and no brains.

Examples of GOOD DMs (and why)

Tell me more…

This is how you ask to be an affiliate.

An example of someone who did research BEFORE DMing.

A SMART comment made during a Spaces gets the ball rolling…

A casual YES I love your stuff!

Flattery gets you everywhere.

An example of a GOOD testimonial… WOW an actual good tip!

Networking in Large/Small Groups

Once you have started to make friends, your NEXT move should be to join and form groups.

Assemble Your Crew

It is incredibly hard to grow in a vacuum on Twitter. You NEED friends.

What’s the difference between “engagement groups” and “networking groups”?

- Engagement groups: A group chat focused solely on sharing content and
obligatory engagement on that content. Low-value. AVOID!
- Networking groups: A group chat focused on sharing strategy, sharing
content, and helping each other learn. This is what you want.

TIP: Avoid Engagement groups. Focus on Networking Groups. Find peers that are where you want to be.

You can do this by…

● Joining an Outer Circle (a community):
○ Use a community to help you find people around your account size/age, with whom you align,
and share values with. These are people who will be with you for the long haul.
○ I am close with many people I started out with on Day ONE because we are all focused on
writing good content, helping people, and remaining consistent. Find peers that share your
values. You can start here with communities like Masterclass 24/7.
● Forming an Inner Circle:
○ Use the community to help you find like-minded friends. Vet them and create side group chats
where you support each other by engaging on posts and giving each other DAILY feedback.
○ Talk about MORE than just Twitter. Share stories and get to know each other.
○ The ultimate goal is to make lifelong friends.
○ TIP: Use an off-platform app like Discord or Telegram. It’s easier than Twitter.
