On September 3, 2022 at approximately 1204 hours I, Officer Walter Mangum was dispatched to Electric apartment
building 308 East Pearl Street in reference to a weapon being pointed at an individual. Upon my arrival I, Ofc.
Mangum spoke with Joshua Towns who stated that he was in apartment 1002 with his lady friend a Ms. Samantha
Grant. Mr. Towns stated that at approximately 2330 hours a black male entered the apartment and pointed a
handgun at him. Mr. Townes stated that the black male was Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens. Mr. Towns
and myself along with Ofc. Joshua Johns, Ofc. Mike Hill, and Ofc. Zekia Lewis escorted Mr. Towns upstairs to get his
belongings out of the apartment. Upon making it to the apartment Ms. Samantha Grant opened the door. Ofc. Johns
asked was their anyone in the apartment with her and Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens came around the

corner and showed that he didn't have a weapon on him but had a holster on his side. Ms. Grant provided us with Mr.

Towns belongings and we walked Mr. Towns out of the apartment complex. Mr. Towns then advised me that he
believes that Ms. Grant and DA Owens were in a romantic relationship and was mad because he was in the

apartment with her. I Officer Walter Mangum gave Mr. Towns a case card for Simple Assault Pointing & Aiming and
advised him he would have to go to the Hinds County Justice Court to file charges on Mr. Jody Owens.

About 15 minutes after Mr. Towns left the scene DA Owens came downstairs and started to explain what happened.
Mr. Owens stated that he received a call for help from Ms. Grant, who he advised was one of his employees. Mr.

Owens stated that he was familiar with the name Joshua Towns but had never met him before. Mr. Owens stated that
Ms. Grant advised him that Mr. Towns was intoxicated and had physically assaulted her. When he arrived to the
apartment he could hear extremely loud music coming from the apartment and no one would come to the door. Once
Mr. Towns came to the door he asked him to leave and he left the apartment shortly after. No further information at
