DAHHA prepares for 35th founding anniversary celebration
To commemorate DAHHAs 35th founding anniversary on June 22, a 2-day celebration will be held on June 18 and 19, 2011. The theme for this years celebration is: Together, Lets Build a Safe and Healthy Community. CCTV cameras are installed at main gates to augment security
DAHHA has installed 4 closed-circuit television camera units to monitor and record entry & egress and activities at the north and south gates of the subdivision. The system is intended to discourage the entry of unwanted elements and help preserve the security, peace and order in the community. This surveillance measure, now on pilot-test, will aid our security force and the police in tracking down the identity of criminal elements passing through the gates. Interactions with the guards are recorded so the system could help confirm discourteous behavior on the part of the guards on duty.
We urge all homeowners to join the above activities and get acquainted or renew friendships with neighbors. The annual souvenir program will be published in this regard. We invite homeowners and businesses to support the Association and place an advertisement in the souvenir program. For particulars, please call Joan at the DAHHA office (tel 952-2715 or 951-2661).
DAHHA hosts unique medical & dental mission that served 550 lives
DAHHA successfully hosted an Oriental Medical & Dental Mission last April 9, 2011 at the covered court of Don Antonio Heights in Barangay Holy Spirit. A team of five Korean acupuncturists, namely: Eui Bong Jung, OMD, Dong Sung Park, OMD; Yang Sub Hahn, OMD; Hwan Ha, OMD; and Yong Jin Choi, OMD served 170 patients for acupuncture and cupping services.
Medical & Dental Mission Apr 9, 2011 DAHHA Vice President/OIC Dr Roger Belleza was on hand to provide medical consultations to patients who preferred the traditional/western health service. He was joined by his son, Dr Robert Belleza, and daughters-in-law Dr Yolando Belleza and Dr Connie Belleza in catering to 270 patients, more than half of whom were pediatric cases.

Feeding program for 150 children
Children from depressed areas in Barangay Holy Spirit were beneficiaries of the feeding program sponsored by Lions International and Starship Security Agency, in partnership with St Benedict Parish, which identified and invited the children and DAHHA, which provided the clubhouse as venue. The feeding program was done for six (6) Fridays starting on April 15 and ended last May 27, 2011. The kids were treated to a full lunch regimen during each session. The principal sponsor of the program is the Quezon City Phoenix Lions Club of Lions International District 301-D1. Mr Romy Taraytay, proprietor of Starship Security and acquaintance of many Don Antonio residents, is Vice President of QC Phoenix Lions Club.

Free FBS monitoring service continues
The free monthly FBS monitoring service for diabetics and diabetesprone members of the community was held last April 30, 2011 at the Don Antonio Heights Wellness Center. This is a project of DAHHA Vice President/Officer-in-Charge Dr Roger Belleza and is being undertaken with the sponsorship of the Natrapharm-Patriot Group, with support from the Rotary Club of Holy Spirit and the Don Antonio Heights Homeowners Association.

DAHHA directors & sector coordinators witness a sustainable livelihood-building approach for farm communities. Could we replicate concept in Bgy Holy Spirit?
The long-planned outing of DAHHA directors and sector coordinators finally came to reality last May 22, 2011 in Talavera, Nueva Ecija at the DVF Dairy Farm owned by Director Danny Fausto. The group was treated to an educational experience where everyone witnessed how carabao milk is sourced, tested, processed and marketed. The strict quality assurance and quality control procedures being adhered to by DVF Dairy throughout the milk chain from the farm to the processing plant to supermarket outlets in Metro Manila 130 kms away, were highlighted during the visit. An equally significant learning is how Director Danny has been providing livelihood opportunities to farmers in Talavera through an innovative partnership with them based on the cooperative form of organization. Gracious hosts Director Danny and wife Peia served delicious lunch at the their lovely rest house, after an interesting talk on how entrepreneur Danilo V Fausto has made a difference in the lives of his town-mates.
2011 Basketball Tournament is rolled out
The 2011 DAHHA Presidents Cup basketball tournament started last Saturday, May 21 at the covered court. Fr Steve Tynan, Treasurer Violy Salvador, Sports Committee chair Abe Floro (shown in the photo), and tournament coordinator & DAHHA Marshall Lanny Calleja welcomed the ten participating teams and guests. Awards for winning teams shall be handed out on June 18 as part of the DAHHA founding anniversary celebration.

TIPS FOR A STRESS-FREE AND HEALTHY OLD AGE 1. Be debt free. Most homeowners say that debt is usual or normal. Tackle your lowest debt first, progressing to the highest. If you have to eat salt and rice or continue moonlighting, do it. 2. Pay as you go with cash. Get rid of your credit cards. Eighty percent of your impulse-buying is curtailed by paying cash. 3. Set aside cash that is available at moments notice, besides having 3-6 months expenses in savings for real emergencies. Emergencies such as sudden unemployment or disability, medical expense deductible, repair of a broken air conditioner, car breakdown, etc can wreck your budget. 4. Buy a car you can afford. If you cannot pay cash, you cannot afford it. Buy a car that is at least 2 years old. 5. Buy a home you can afford. Buy a home after putting aside the emergency funds needed. Pay at least 20 percent down and do not take a mortgage more than 15 years. Your total house payment should not be more than one fourth of your take-home pay. 6. Do not gamble. The odds of winning a lotto is 1:96 million. This means the odds are that you will not win. If this amount is saved and invested in mutual funds for a lifetime working, you would have more than a million pesos return. 7. Insure yourself. Insurance is an absolute must. Most people now have life, medical, disability and other insurances. Medical bills are listed most often as the reason for bankruptcy. Insurance can be the difference between being prosperous in your retirement or being a pauper. 8. Save. Get rid of the keeping up with the Joneses attitude. Try to moderate your compulsive buying habits and make the saving obsession an emotional priority. 9. Invest. Invest after you are out of debt. Invest a minimum of 15% of your income in good growth mutual funds. Spread out your investments: one fourth to large cap, one fourth to medium cap, one fourth to small cap and one fourth to international. A trusted financial adviser like BPI will help you sort it out. Caution: Do not engage in a business venture you dont understand. 10. Give. Give donations to charitable institutions like DAHHA, St Benedicts Parish Church, Unicef, Rotary and the Red Cross. You can give what you have and in return, receive double the amount of Gods blessings. Always keep your lifestyle in check and begin a disciplined savings plan early. The best investment is to keep yourself strong and healthy. Remember Aesops fable, the goose that lays the golden eggs. Dont kill the goose, you are the goose. And the last but not the least bit advice I offer is listen to your wife. She is the best retirement planner and the finest financial adviser you can easily afford.
