Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale faced obstacles from her wealthy family who opposed her dream of becoming a nurse, but she persisted in her goal. During the Crimean War, she cared for sick soldiers and saw their suffering from disease rather than injuries. Nightingale helped establish nursing as a respected profession and emphasized treating patients with dignity. Her story inspired the author to pursue nursing despite challenges and to serve patients selflessly, without expecting anything in return.

REFLECTION ABOUT FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE
Florence Nightingale is widely regarded as the "Mother of Nursing." But, before she became one, she faced
numerous challenges. She came from a wealthy family, and her family was opposed because they associated
nursing with working-class women. Despite the fact that they advised her not to pursue her dream of
becoming a nurse, she persisted. Becoming a nurse is not the end of the road; it is only the beginning. She
saw and experienced much suffering during the Crimean War after receiving her parents' approval and
doing what she wanted. Soldiers were suffering from diseases, not from the war. And, as a nurse and caring
individual, Nightingale assisted and cared for those sick soldiers. Nightingale Wbynot only helped sick
soldiers during the Crimean War, but she also helped me understand my role in the healthcare setting. She
emphasized the importance of treating patients with dignity. Nursing is not just simply a job, it is a
commitment.
Learning about her life gave me even more motivation to pursue a career in nursing. It gave me the
determination to achieve my goal of treating and caring for my patients. She reminded me that being a nurse
is more than just a job; it is a divine calling. She inspires me to pursue her path and become who I want to
be, despite the many obstacles that will stand in my way. Her leadership embodies the characteristics of a
true leader. Nightingale’s story also greatly influenced me. She was the mother of nursing, not only because
she cared for patients, but also because she demonstrated to us that it doesn't matter who you are, what your
social status is, or what you can gain from it. You will serve because you want to serve, not because you
want something in return.
I will never stop learning, just like Florence Nightingale. I will never let obstacles prevent me from pursuing
my career. I know that entering this profession will never be easy, but I will do my best to be one of the
nurses who will help people in their most vulnerable moments, relieve their pain, and improve their quality
of life. I will serve them with tenderness, gentleness, and love, without expecting anything in return. I will
treat them as if they were family. In the same way that Nightingale did, I will give my patients hope by
assuring them that they are safe, secure, and healthy. I will do everything in my power to assist and make
someone happy. Because this is my vocation and my calling. This is what I believe God intended for me to
do: become a nurse.
