Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University.
Being an emerging Medical University, our hallmarks include striving
to achieve international standards of excellence; problem-oriented research
that improves quality of life for the public at large; embracing pluralism;
and dedication to ensuring that our academic programmes and healthcare
services are accessible to the disadvantaged.
Addressing complex social problems requires action in multiple arenas, collaboration by experts
in different fields, and the ability to work with varying multidisciplinary experience. SZABMU strives for
provision of education in order to prepare ethical leadership, thoughtful citizenship, service to the society,
and success in the global knowledge economy.
As we go through a difficult time fighting against the COVID-19 Virus and the major disruption it
has created in our lives, I would like to thank our students, faculty and staff of SZABMU along with all the
healthcare professionals for their dedication, sacrifice and facing a myriad of challenges with courage and
resilience.
At SZABMU, we must strive to face these challenges as a team, including students, faculty and staff
members, so as to rise to their best potentials, identify their strengths and acquire much needed lifelong
learning skills for academic and social pursuits.
As a future vision, we must pursue groundbreaking research on deadly diseases, educating the
next generation of leaders here at their Alma Mater and at renowned universities around the world, using
technology that deliver solutions to help the society and heading relief efforts in areas racked by conflict
and catastrophes. In addition, working to ensure that every human receives the needed vaccinations and
that those are very timely.

Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University.
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University is committed to
establishing a state of an art health care sector in Pakistan. It has been planned
to support improvements not only to match internationally acceptable
medical education standards but also an alma-mater of medics second to
none in the region. Our primary focus shall remain the establishment of
research infrastructure right at the outset coupled with research-based
teaching both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level so as to establish
a culture capable of exploring new dimensions and introducing innovations in the healthcare delivery
system.
Our earnest and honest endeavor at this University shall be to establish a most modern and efficient
model of the healthcare system by enhancing the capability and capacity of both mentors and their subjects
so as to produce leaders capable of transforming health care par excellence for the nation and the humanity.
The University is dedicated to simultaneously promoting basic along with applied medical
disciplines, medical administration, public health, nursing, allied health sciences, genetics, biomedical and
biological technologies, on the campus and through its constituent as well as affiliated institutions.
This University undertakes the challenging responsibility of ensuring transparency merit-based
proceedings which shall lay the foundation of producing the best caregivers for the motherland in particular
and humanity at large. I have a firm conviction that this university will provide unmatchable opportunities

In the Year 2020, University launched a number of programs which include, M.Phil Molecular Biology,
M.Phil Physiology, M.Phil Pharmacology, Master in Public Health, Certificates course in Health Professions
Education, and Diploma in Clinical Research.
May Allah grant us fortitude and steadfastness to rise to the expectations of the society and the
nation in a befitting manner (Ameen).

About SZABMU
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad was established through an Act of
Parliament on 21st March 2013. The first Vice Chancellor was appointed by the Chancellor, President of
Pakistan, on the recommendations of Search Committee on 7th January 2014. Pakistan Institute of Medical
Sciences (PIMS) Islamabad is the Teaching Hospital of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University.
The Federal Medical College and School of Dentistry are the Constituent Medical and Dental Colleges
of the University. The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (largest tertiary care hospital in the capital) and
the Dental Hospital are the attached teaching hospitals. There are over 20 Medical, Dental, Nursing and
Allied Health Sciences Institutions in the Federal Capital Territory that are affiliated with SZABMU.
Since its inception, SZABMU has successfully standardized the curricula, brought uniformity in
the quality of healthcare education, examinations transparency, and the award of Undergraduate and
Postgraduate qualifications on merit. Over the last 7 years, there have been many peer-reviewed publications
in both National and International Impact Factor Journals, highlighting the emphasis placed on quality
research.
The University offers structured Residency Training programs in 40 disciplines of Medicine and
Allied, Surgery and Allied, Dentistry and Allied Health Sciences. M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs are offered in
Basic Medical Sciences as per HEC policy.
The degrees awarded by the University are recognized by HEC and our Graduates/Postgraduates
have received appointments as faculty members, clinicians and researchers both at the National and
International levels.

ADMISSION FOR MBBS & BDS IN AFFILIATED INSTITUTES
BASIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSIONS
a) Qualifications: In accordance with PMC Medical and Dental Undergraduate Education (Admission,
Curriculum, and Conduct) Regulation 2021 (Amended) Section 3; Any person seeking admission in
any undergraduate Medical or Dental College in Pakistan shall be eligible, provided the following
mandatory criteria are fulfilled.
i) Possesses a Higher Secondary School Certificate qualification (“HSSC”) or an equivale12th-
grade qualification recognized in Pakistan with more than sixty-five (65%) percent marks
therein, or a higher percentage as may be notified by the Medical and Dental Council; and
ii) passed three subjects (Biology and Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics) in the
examination of the Higher Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent 12th-grade
qualification recognized in Pakistan (such courses must have been duly certified by the
Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) as equivalent to HSSC). iii) For merit calculation,
the actual marks obtained in the Science Electives of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/
Mathematics by the applicants in their FSc. or A-level or any equivalent HSSC qualifications
results must be used.
b) Domicile:
i) The candidates possessing valid domicile certificate/ residence certificate are eligible to
apply for admission against the reserved seats of concerned province/region.
ii) For SKZMDC, domicile holder of Islamabad (ICT) are eligible to apply against Punjab Quota
seats.
c) MDCAT i) Reference to PMC Conduct of Examinations Regulations 2021 section 5 (8) & PMC Medical
and Dental Undergraduate Education (Admission, Curriculum and Conduct) Regulation 2021
Section 3(a) for admission against any category of seats, passing the PMC MDCAT with minimum
65% marks is mandatory and compulsory, and no exception, whatsoever, shall be taken under any
circumstances.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
a) General Rules:
i) Online Applications along with all required documents once submitted shall not be editable.
Similarly, documents once submitted cannot be changed and shall be considered as final
subject to exceptional circumstances intimated through application.
ii) Revision of result or improvement of marks by any Board after the closing date of submission
of Online Application shall not affect the merit list of admissions for the current year in any
way. Similarly, results declared after the closing date of submission of Applications shall not
be accepted for admission in the current session.
iii) In case final merit of more than one candidate is equal up to four decimals, the candidate
older in age shall stand higher in merit.

iv) All selected candidates shall have to submit all original documents including Matric, FSc. ,
Domicile, Disability certificate and any other supporting document at the time of admission
in the medical/dental college for which they have been selected along with attested copies
of these documents.
v) No candidate will be admitted unless he/she has paid the fee and other dues within due
date & time. Otherwise, the admission of defaulting students will be canceled and next
candidate on merit will be considered for admission.
b) Foreign Seats (SKZMDC):
i) Foreign student means a student who is not a Pakistani Student and holds only a foreign
nationality.
ii) Valid Passport of the candidate
iii) A-Level/12th Grade, or Equivalent Certificate issued by IBCC/ concerned board.
iv) Transcripts of 12th Grade/Equivalent issued by concerned foreign institute.
v) The candidates having foreign qualification shall also upload their original results issued by

vi) The candidates having foreign qualification (A-Level, 12th Grade etc.) shall submit a letter of
Equivalence of Grades in Science Electives of Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics
issued separately by IBCC. This is mandatory, according to the directions of Pakistan Medical

c) Seats for Disabled Students:
i) The candidate shall have to attach a certificate from a Federal/Provisional Government
Disability Board about the nature of his/her disability. Such certificate, however, will only
make him/her eligible to apply against the respective reserved quota for disabled students.
ii) A Medical Board shall be constituted by the Chairman Admission Committee which will
make the final decision about the eligibility of the candidate for admission against the
reserved quota verifying the veracity of an individual candidates claiming.

“substantial” means neither minor nor very severe “permanent” means that the effect of the
impairment is likely to last for the rest of person’s life ”normal day-to-day activities” include
mobility, manual dexterity, speech, hearing, seeing, understanding danger, and memory.
v) In case, the number of applicants exceeds the number of seats in the disabled quota, the

ii) Twenty (20) marks will be added to HSSC or equivalent marks of a Hifz-e-Quran, subject to
proficiency in Hifz test conducted by the committee constituted by the Chairman Admission
Committee.
iii) The decision of the Hifz-e-Quran Committee shall be final.
i) Display of Provisional Merit List:
i) After the completion of online application process, the University shall display on its website
Provisional Merit List of the candidates who have successfully applied for admissions.
ii) The merit lists shall be provisional. The Chairman Admission Committee shall have the power
to review the provisional merit list in case of any error, omission, lapse, mistake, fraud or
misrepresentation that occurs or is brought to their notice at any time during the admission
process, in which case the merit list will be amended accordingly. Moreover, the inclusion
of name in the merit list will not confer any right on the candidate if he/she is otherwise
found ineligible on detection of an error /mistake / fraud / misrepresentation at any stage of
admissions.
iii) The candidates will be given 48 hours to make written representations against any error,
omission, mistake, fraud or misrepresentation in the provisional merit lists. Documentary
proof is mandatory in this regard otherwise the complaint shall be rejected. No complaint/
representation will be entertained after due time.
j) Preparation and Display of Selection Lists:
i) The University shall prepare a Merit list college-wise and Quota-wise.
ii) Merit Lists of candidates will be prepared strictly on the basis of merit and availability of

l) Cancellation of Admission:

unfit at any stage of MBBS/BDS course on the recommendation of the appropriate Medical

• Selected residents must be registered with Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University
within 30 days of the date of issuance of Notification of Registration along with the recipient
of the prescribed registration fee, failing which the admission of selected residents shall be
deemed canceled.
• Residents have to complete all the mandatory workshops in 1st year of training.
• Within the first year of registration, the trainee is required to submit a Synopsis of the thesis

(as per guidelines issued from Supervisor, Dean, Synopsis Committee, ERB of SZABMU. Then
final approval will be through AS&RB).
E. SUPERVISOR, SYNOPSIS AND THESIS TITLE
• The title of research shall be selected by the student in a particular speciality with the approval of
the Supervisor and Ethical Review Board as well. Synopsis of the Thesis will be submitted within one
year of registration and has to be approved by the Supervisor & AS&RB of the University.
• The synopsis is a brief outline (about four A-4 size pages or 1000 words is the maximum limit) of the
envisaged Research Project to be conducted as a mandatory requirement of the degree.
• The Research Board shall appoint a supervisor (and a co-supervisor, if necessary) from the relevant
field of specialization and approve the field of research/ title on the recommendations of the Head
of Department/Institute concerned.
• The Supervisor (and a co-supervisor, if necessary) shall be a Professor/ Associate Professor having
the qualifications of MD/ MDS/MS/Ph.D./ FCPS/ FRCS/ MRCP/ MRCOG /M. Phil, (old courses of four
years) or any other equivalent terminal qualification with five years’ experience in the relevant field.
Assistant Professor with five years of teaching experience shall stand eligible to become Supervisor
of the program.
• Number of candidates in each department. The Professor / Head of the Department/ unit can have
up to two post-graduate residents per year and the Associate/Assistant Professor will have one per
year.
i. From the date of registration, the maximum period shall be six years for the submission of
the thesis. Only under exceptional circumstances, to be described in detail by the candidate
and supported by the supervisor, the Research Board may allow an extension of one year
beyond seven years. The candidate shall appear in the final examination within eight years
of his/her registration.
ii. The training will be full-time and residential.
F. Longitudinal evaluation (Logbook, Assignments, Assessments)
• Throughout the length of the course the performance of the candidate will be recorded on the Log
Book. The Log Book will reflect the performance of the candidate in the following parameters:
a. Entries in the logbook should be on regular basis, not at the end of the program.
b. Record of competence of technical skills.
c. Record of the assignments.
d. Record of effective and interpersonal behaviors.
e. Record of Journal clubs, conferences, and lectures attended.
G. Mandatory Workshops
During training candidate will attend the following mandatory workshops:
i. Communication skills.
ii. Research methodology, Biostatics & Medical writing
iii. Computer and Internet skills.
iv. Basic Life Support

v. Surgical skills (For Surgery & allied disciplines) Candidate will submit a copy of the Certificate
of Attendance of the above-mentioned workshops to the University.
H. Thesis
The thesis submitted by all post-graduate residents shall comply with the following conditions:
i. It shall form a distinct contribution to knowledge and afford evidence of originality, shown by the
discovery of new facts, by the exercise of independent critical judgment, and/or by the invention of
new methods of investigation.
ii. It shall not include research work for which a degree has already been conferred in this or any other
university/college.
iii. It shall be written in English and the presentation must be satisfactory for publication.
iv. Any part of the thesis which has been published before submission of the thesis may be appended
at the end of the thesis.
v. The thesis shall be typed on A4 size (11.69”x8.27”) paper with margins of 1- 1/2” on the left and 1” to
the right, top, and bottom of each page.
vi. The thesis shall be hardbound with the black cloth cover and gold lettering on the front and the
back.
I. Thesis Evaluation
i. There shall be a standing list of External Examiners for each discipline consisting of persons of
eminence in the respective field of research. The list shall be suggested from time to time by the
Board of Studies of the Department/ Institute, Board of Faculty concerned, and approved by the
Research Board. The External Examiner will be requested to critically examine the thesis for its
suitability for acceptance.
ii. The candidate shall in the first instance submit four unbound copies of his/her complete thesis
along with an application on prescribed form for the evaluation of his/ her thesis, duly forwarded
by his/her supervisor and the Dean/ Principal/ Director of the institute/ department, along with
prescribed Thesis Evaluation fee. The University will pay each Evaluator for the thesis evaluation.
iii. The Vice-Chancellor shall appoint three External Examiners from the approved list of External
Examiners.
iv. The reports of the examiners shall be placed before the Research Board for consideration.
v. If two of the three Examiners find that the thesis is wholly inadequate it may be rejected by the
Research Board.
vi. If any of the examiners suggests modification / revision of the thesis, the candidate shall be required
to resubmit a revised version of the thesis duly certified by the supervisor, within one year (in case
of Major Correction).
vii. The revised version of the thesis shall be approved by the same examiners (s) who suggested
modification/ revision of the thesis (in case of Major Correction)
viii. If any examiner finds the thesis adequate but suggests minor modification/ revision, this may be
incorporated without referring again to the examiners. However, the supervisor will recommend
the correction.
ix. The candidate will submit the research thesis in the final year of training, six months before
completion of the training.

J. Thesis Evaluation Criteria for AS & RB:
In pursuance of recommendations of the Academic Council, decisions were taken about thesis
evaluation of MS/MD/MDS/M.PHIL thesis. Three (03) copies of the thesis will be sent to three (03)
external examiners for evaluation (28th February for Aug/Sep exam & 31st August for Mar/Apr
Exam). In consideration of thesis evaluation reports in respect of MS/MD/MDS/M.Phil. (Postgraduate
Students), the Board’s decision for thesis evaluation is as follows.
i. If three examiners have accepted the thesis with minor corrections in the present/accepted form
thesis should be sent to the Advanced Studies & Research Boards (AS & RB) for further necessary
action.
ii. In case two external examiners accepted the thesis as minor in present/accepted form and the third
examiner rejects the thesis, all thesis reports will be rejected, and students must rewrite the thesis.
iii. In the case of two minor and one major correction students will resubmit the thesis after three
months.
iv. Time required for Thesis evaluation is within one year.
• Residents will be evaluated by the Supervisor quarterly throughout the residency according
to the syllabus/curriculum and reports will be submitted to the Registrar’s office.
• After completing required years of training Residents have to appear in the MTA (Mid Term
Assessment) examination as per syllabus.
K. Mid Term Assessment (MTA)
The Mid Term Assessment (MTA) examination is a mandatory eligibility requirement for all
Postgraduate Final examinations. Candidates are required to have passed Part-I in respective
Discipline or been granted official exemption *, complete two years training in respective specialties,
get the approval of their Synopsis from AS&RB, and take the MTA Examination. In case of failure in
the MTA examination, the trainees are permitted to continue their training in the chosen speciality
but must pass the MTA examination before appearing in the final examination.
• Required Documents for Appearing in MTA Examination
1. Copy of CNIC/ Passport (foreigners only).
2. 4 passport size attested photographs
3. Copy of MBBS / BDS Degree.
4. Copy of PM&DC / PMC valid registration.
5. Copy of Registration Card issued by the Registrar Office
6. A Copy of Workshop Certificate
7. A Copy of the Letter stating completion of two years satisfactory training experience
duly signed by the Supervisor from Registrar Office.
8. Letters of Synopsis Approval issued by Meeting Section.

L. MD/MS/MDS Final Examination
ELIGIBILITY FOR MD/MS/MDS/ Final EXAMINATION
The eligibility requirements for candidates appearing in MD/MS/MDS Final Examination are:
1. To have passed MD/MS/MDS Part-I in respective Discipline, or been granted official exemption *.
2. To have undertaken the specified training in Respective Speciality, all of which should be after
passing Part-I (a certificate testifying attendance is obligatory for admittance to examination) in an
institution affiliated with SZABMU
3. Provide the certificate of attending of mandatory workshop.
4. To submit a completed and duly signed logbook from the respective supervisor.
5. To provide a certificate of having passed the MTA Examination.
6. To provide a certificate of approval of Thesis

Note: If a candidate is declared pass in the Defense of Thesis Examination, he/she shall be exempted
from this component for subsequent exams attempts.
Provisional Certificate, Transcript and Degree will be awarded only after passing all the components
of the final MS, MD, MDS, M.Phil & MSc examination.
N. Result Declaration and Awarding Certificates/Diploma/ Degree
1. The result will be announced after the examination.
2. Transcript / DMC will be issued within one month of result declaration.

O. M.Phil. / MSc Program
M-Phil/MSc degree program consists of;

• Before starting to work on Research Thesis, the Postgraduate Trainee has to send a Synopsis
to Ethical Review Board and get the topic approved. The synopsis is a brief outline (about
four A-4 size pages or 1000 words is the maximum limit) of PGR’s future work. After topic
approval from ERB, the Synopsis will be placed before the Advanced Studies & Research
Board and the candidate has to defend his Synopsis for seeking approval. (This should be
done within the first year of training.
• The Research Board shall appoint a Supervisor (and a co-supervisor, if necessary) from the
relevant field of specialization and approve the field of research/ title on the recommendations
of the Institute concerned.
i. Part I Examination:
The Scholars are required to complete one year’s training in their respective discipline, get the
approval of their Synopsis from AS&RB and take the Part- I Examination.
In case of failure in the Part I examination, the Student is permitted to continue their training in the
chosen discipline but must pass the Part - I examination before appearing in the final examination.

• In case of failure to submit the synopsis in the first year of training, the Resident can be
removed from the residency program.
• Residents who avail of the maternity leaves have to complete the training against said leave
without stipend and no additional time for research will be given to the residents after
completion of said duration.
• Road Map for Postgraduate Residents will be revised from time to time as per policy by the
University.

FEE POLICY
The fee structure for MBBS and BDS (all categories of seats) in public sector medical and dental colleges
under the control of the Federal Government, for Session 2021-2022 is as follows:
1. Newly selected candidates must pay their fee within the notified period. Failing to pay dues within
the specified date and time, the candidate will lose his/her seat to the next candidate on the waiting
list.
2. If the fee is not paid within the due date fixed by the institution authorities ‘defaulting students’
names will be struck off from the college rolls.
a) Refund of Fee:
i) Where a student has deposited fee and joins or does not join classes but, within fifteen
working days on the commencement of classes, informs in writing the medical and dental
institution and the university that he/she wishes to leave the institution, his/her seat shall
be deemed to have become vacant upon furnishing of this information and he shall be
entitled to hundred percent refund of all his deposited fees and charges, except onetime
admission fee and a student from waiting list may be admitted against this vacant seat in
accordance with merit.
ii) Where a student who has paid fee and joins classes opts for a private sector medical or
dental institution within three months during same admission process, that student shall be
entitled for refund of fee after deduction of fee for study period availed in terms of months
in that medical or dental institution and the seat shall be considered as vacant No fee shall
be refunded after three months of commencement of classes.
iii) Where a student migrates from one medical or dental institution to another medical or
dental institution at any stage of the academic session, the medical or dental institution,
as the case may be shall be bound to refund all dues and fee charged proportionate to
remaining period of academic year.

Rules & Regulations/ Policy for Migration of
MBBS/BDS Students
Migration from one Public / Private Sector Medical / Dental College to another in Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto
Medical University will be governed by the following rules & regulations.
1. An application for migration will be submitted by the student him/herself, and not through a
nominee or relative of the student.
2. Migration Committee constituted by the Academic Council shall consider all cases on merit.
3. All prerequisite documents, duly attested by Principal must be submitted along with the Request
Form for Migration (MBBS/BDS).
4. No Objection Certificate (NOC) must be submitted from the Relieving Institute/ Parent University.
5. No Objection Certificate (NOC) must be submitted from the Accepting Institute/ Parent University.
6. Payment of Prescribed Migration Fee (Rs 8,000/- non-refundable) in form of Bank Draft in favor of
SZABMU.
7. Migration will only be allowed after passing MBBS (2nd Year) Second Professional Examination and
BDS (1st Year) First Professional Examination.
8. Migration will be allowed only
a. Between institutions recognized by the Regulatory Body i.e. PMC.
b. Between Constituent/Affiliate Institutions of HEC recognized Universities.
c. If the reason submitted is considered valid by the Migration Committee.
d. From Institution of higher merit to lower merit (private institutions).
9. Migration Request of undergraduate MBBS/BDS students will not be accepted if,
a. Admission was granted in violation of the respective admission criteria, or on reserved seats.
b. Migration is requested from private to public institutions or vice-versa.
c. The receiving institution is exceeding the sanctioned strength of the session class.
d. A student applies before passing all subjects of MBBS (2nd Year) Second Professional
Examination or BDS (1st Year) First Professional Examination.
e. Student is in the last year of the study (5th year MBBS / 4th year BDS)
f. Mutual Migration is requested.
10. In case, wherein the Scheme of Studies varies in parent Institution/University and Accepting
Institution/ University, the case will be decided on case to case basis (exemption maybe granted
or student might be asked to undergo additional training/teaching or assessments during the
academic year).
11. Intra-city migration from Private Medical/Dental Colleges will not be encouraged, however; maybe
allowed on case to case basis after personal hearing.
12. Those cases not covered in the Migration rules of the SZABMU will be referred to the Vice Chancellor,
SZABMU for decision.
Rules & Regulations for Migration of DPT/AHS/Generic BSN
1. Migration of students will be allowed only from affiliated/ Constituent Institutions of HEC recognized
Universities.
2. Migration of students will be allowed only from Institutions/colleges recognized by their relevant

Regulatory Bodies i.e. PMC, etc.
3. No migration shall be allowed within SZABMU constituent colleges and its affiliated colleges/
institutions.
4. The migration shall be allowed only once from/to SZABMU.
5. A migration will be allowed only if that does not result in any increase in the number of seats
sanctioned in the Institution/College for that session.
6. Mutual Migration of students shall not be allowed.
7. No migration shall be allowed from a private Institution/college to a public Institution/college or
vice-versa.
8. An application for migration will be submitted by the student him/herself, and not through nominee
or relative of the student.
9. Migration application will only be entertained on the prescribed application form available at
szabmu.edu.pk
10. Migration Committee constituted by the Academic Council shall consider all migration cases on
merit.
11. All prerequisite documents, duly attested by Principal must be submitted along with the prescribed
Migration Application Form.

15. Intra-city migration from different universities/ institutes will not be encouraged, however; maybe
allowed on case to case basis after personal hearing.
16. No student shall be admitted to First semester by migration. In terms of semesters, migration is only
permissible into the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th semester, 3 weeks before mid-term exams.
17. No student shall be admitted to First Year by migration. In terms of annual system of examination,
migration is only permissible into the 2nd and 3rd year before mid-exams.
18. A migrated student is required to complete at least 50% of curriculum required for award of the
degree at SZABMU, in order to be eligible for SZABMU’s degree.
19. The applicant must have passed:
a) Intermediate (Pre-Medical) with at least 60% marks for DPT
b) Intermediate (Pre-Medical) with at least 50% marks for Generic BSN (04 years)
c) Intermediate (Pre- Medical)/equivalent with at least 50% for AHS.
20. The applicant shall submit the copies of all previous transcripts, duly verified by the Registrar/
Principal of the college of the institution where he/she was previously enrolled.
21. The applicant shall have minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0.
22. Depending upon the similarity and equivalence of the courses, Credit Hours of only those courses
shall be transferred in which at least 65% marks have been obtained or grade is not less than C.
23. In case a disparity exists between the Syllabus of the two Universities, Equivalence will be determined
by SZABMU.
24. If allowed migration, the student shall have to cover the entire deficient course(s) (if any) within the
stipulated time for the completion of a particular degree.

25. The migration will be purely merit-based. Merit will be calculated on the basis of CGPA among
candidates who otherwise eligible for migration in case of more candidates and less available seats.
26. In case, wherein the Scheme of Studies varies in parent Institution/University and Accepting
Institution/ University, the case will be decided on case to case basis (exemption maybe granted
or student might be asked to undergo additional training/teaching or assessments during the
academic year).
27. Those cases not covered in the Migration rules of the SZABMU will be referred to the Vice Chancellor,
SZABMU for decision.
List of Mandatory Requirements for Migration (MBBS/BDS)
1. Duly completed Request Form for Migration of Undergraduate Student (MBBS/BDS) by student
along with valid reason for migration, addressed to Registrar, SZABMU.
2. Payment of Prescribed Migration Fees (Bank Draft)
3. PMC valid student Registration Number
4. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Head of relieving College/ University
5. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Head of receiving College/ University
6. No Objection Certificate (NOC)/ Migration Certificate from parent University in case of Inter-
University migration.
7. Detailed Transcript/academic record in case of Inter-University migration on the prescribed format.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Migration of MBBS/BDS Students
1. Student will submit a complete Request Form for Migration of Undergraduate Student (MBBS/BDS),
with NOCs and attested copies of requisite documents, and Fee Receipt to the Registrar, SZABMU
2. Migration Committee will process the application on merit, in the light of SZABMU approved Rules
and Regulations.
3. If the Committee considers the case valid and complete, Migration will be accorded, otherwise
declined.
4. Cases outside the rules and regulations of SZABMU will be referred to the Vice Chancellor for
Decision.
5. The process should be completed within the first three months of the Academic Session.
6. In case, migration is allowed, the student information will be shared with the PMC.

PROCEDURE FOR CREDIT HOURS TRANSFER
The cases of transfer of credit hours shall be placed before the SZABMU equivalence committee to examine
and take necessary decision in the matter. However, no credit hour of a course will be transferred if the grade
is less than C for undergraduate and B for graduate. Procedure to transfer credit hours step by step is given
below.

HOSTEL FACILITY
There are two hostels for postgraduate residents in Teaching Hospital, PIMS of SZABMU for males and
females residents. Female PG hostel has 30 rooms, while the Male PG hostel has 75 rooms.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) aims to assist needy students by providing access to quality
education through needs-based scholarships, providing an opportunity for talented, academically
qualified students from remote and rural areas of Pakistan (FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and
Baluchistan), who are financially disadvantaged and are in capable of meeting higher education
costs in various disciplines.
4. US AID NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS:
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is committed to playing its role
in the progress and development of the higher educationsector and has offered Scholarships to
financially disadvantaged students to study Medical and Allied Health Sciences. The scholarships
will be offered to the students fulfilling their criteria and subject to the availability of funds.
5. PRIME MINISTER TUITION FEE REIMBURSEMENT SCHEME:
The Higher Education Commission, Islamabad support the educational sector of the following

Reimbursement Scheme and pay tuition fee of the students studying in Masters, M.Phil and PhD

The directorate of quality assurance at SZABMU is assigned with the continuous research activities and
inculcating the best possible and up-to-date methods and procedures to improve the academic programs
offered in the institute and all the constituent colleges and institutions. The Directorate also ensures the

The quality assurance framework is based on connected processes; such as Self-Assessment of programs by

The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) was established at the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali
Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad in September 2015. The Department of ORIC was set up to develop
the research culture in the SZABMU, encourage and bolster all types of research, and establish linkages
with industry for commercial and academic benefits. ORIC offers help and technical support to faculty and
scholars in their mission to inquire about financing and other help.
