Introduction to Puppetry Lesson Plan

The lesson plan introduces pupils to different types of puppets. It has three sections: 1) The teacher shows pictures and videos of different puppet types (marionettes, hand puppets, rod puppets, and shadow puppets) and discusses famous puppet characters to familiarize students. 2) Through class discussion, students determine how puppets can be used for education, like a public service announcement on proper mask wearing. Students start frameworks for short scripts. 3) The teacher recaps the importance of appropriate language and audience for messages. As a final evaluation and follow-up activity, students are assigned to make their own puppet.
