Encanto Script

Introduction by narrator. (Musa)

The Madrigals are an extraordinary family who lived in the mountains in a

charmed place called the Encanto. The magic of Encanto has blessed every
child in the family with a unique gift except Mirabel. It is a story of Alma
Madrigal and her family who are blessed with magic by a candle that Alma held
onto during their escape from armed conflict. Through this magic, they build a
town called Encanto where each of Alma’s children are born with special gifts.
Mirabel is the last child born and she seems to have no gift at all.

Alma (Annaya): Open your eyes!

Mirabel (Zahra): This is where the magic come from?

Alma: Mmmhmm, this candle holds the miracle given to our family.

Mirabel: How did you get the miracle?

Narrator: Long ago, when my three babies had just been born. A and I were
forced to flee our home, hoping to find a new home. We could not escape the
dangers and A was lost. In our darkest moment, we were given a miracle. A
candle with magical flame that could never go out. It blessed us with a place of
wonders.

Mirabel: An Encanto!

Alma: An Encanto!

Narrator: The miracle grew and the house came alive to shelter us. The miracle
blessed each child with a magical gift to help us. When their children came of
age…..
Mirabel: They got the magic too.

Scene 2: Gift ceremony of mirabel

Mirabel holds the candle and opens the magical door.

The light of candle turns out

Alma frowned and says ‘will you use your gift to honor the miracle?’

She is sad and went to her room and takes out a gift from her drawer

M: everyone is looking for you!

Take this present 3, 2, 1

Oh huhh

M: Nervous?

Antonio (Musab): ……

M: you’ve nothing to worry about, you will get the gift and it would be the
coolest thing ever!

I know it…

Antonio: What if it doesn’t work?

M: well! That’s impossible,

Antonio: I wish you can have a door.

M: you know what? You don’t have to worry about me, because I have an
amazing family and an amazing house and an amazing you.

Antonio opens the gift and gets a toy.

SCENE 2

Setting: Bedroom scene of mirabel and song ‘Family madrigal’ introduction of

all the characters along with their magical powers.
Narrator: Mirabel gets snubbed during her gift ceremony in Casita. The
madrigals all get magical gifts to help family and their village. However,
Meribal doesn’t get a gift which causes problems in her relationship with Alma.
Alma is constantly worried about losing the magic, and letting down her family.
So, she is disturbed when Mirabel doesn’t receive a gift during ceremony day.

Resources/ props
Room setting- bed, side tables and closet
Dinning table outside, plates (Mirabel will be setting up the dinner table)

Mirabel will grab her glasses from the table, finds her clothes from the
wardrobe while throwing away things in the basket and wear her bag. Then,
steps out of her room.
While rushing through the staircase, she says ‘Hi, morning! Alvelo.
Meanwhile, town kids came to her house.

One kid says (alizay) : Hey! Wheres the magical gift?

Mirabel: my cousin’s ceremony is tonight.

Town kid (hiba): Whats his gift

Merabel: We’re gonna find out.

Zaka: Whats your gift.

Merabel: Whos asking?

Town kids: Us

Merabel: Well us, I just cant talk about myself. Im only part of the amazing
madrigals.

Town kids: Who are the amazing madrigals.

The song will begin (The family madrigal)

Extended scene 2
Resources and props required
Village background, the setup would be streets of a village. (trees, animals,
small shops)
Coffee cup (town kid will be holding), flowers, julietas food that is any
sweetmeat to heal people, umbrella (that felix will hold),

Narrator:

Mirabel is dancing in the streets of the village

Background music will be played (im part of the family magical!)
Town kids surrounds her

Town kid (syeda Fatima): oh my gosh its them

Town kid (hiba): I cant remember all the gifts.

Town kid (alizay): I don’t know whos who?

Town kid continues (fatima): what are the gifts

Meribal: alright alright relax relax.

Kid 1 (Rehan): it is physically impossible to relax

Kid 2 (Momin): just Tell us everything, what are your powers?

Kid 3 (hiba): just tell us what everyone can do?

Mirabel: That’s why coffee is for grownups.

The song will begin from ‘My Tia Pepa, her mood affects the weather’ (1.33)

Pepa (umaiza) will dance (when shes unhappy the temperature gets weird as
thunder storm.
We don’t talk about Bruno (shahmeer), pause and Bruno can see the future

Mother julieta (Huda) can heal people with meal.

Meribal: the truth is she can heal you with her meal.

Town kids (syeda Fatima): wait whos the sister and whose the cousins?

Town kid (alizay): Theres so many people!

Town kid (hiba): How do you keep them all straight.

Mirabel: okay okay okay.

Song will begin from (2.52)

Mirabel: adiola

Town kid (zaka): what is your gift?

Song will begin from 3.48

Town kids will keep saying: what about Mirabel?

Scene 3

Resources and props

Flower vase, gift basket, flowers, house setup (staircase and living room
setup)

Alma: Mirabel! Hold the vase of flowers in her hand and says to M, ‘what are
you doing?’

M: They were just asking about the family

One town kid (bella- SYEDA FATIMA): she is about to tell us about the magical
gift.
Doloris (Zimal): oh! M didn’t get one.

Town kid 2 (HIBA): you didn’t get a gift?

Mirabel: mmmmm

A man (Ahmad shahbaz) came and says ‘you have a delivery’ I give you the
special since you are the only madrigal kid with no gift, I call it special since you
got no gift.

Mirabel: thanks!

Man (ahmad shahbaz): Yes and good luck, gift ceremony was a bummer, the
last one did not work

Mirabel awkward sign.

Town kid 2 (Alizay): if I were you, I would be very sad.

M: well my little friend, I am not because gift or no gift im just as special as rest
of my family.

Luisa (Mahnoor):

Town kid (Zaka): May be your gift is in denial.

Mirabel walks inside the house

More characters join in

Luisa (Mahnoor): im on it.

Pepa (Umaiza): the night has to be perfect, and if it’s not perfect, and people
are going to be coming

Felix (IBRAHIM): and flowers…….

Isabela (Fatima Faizan): did someone says, flowers.

Felix: oooo angel.

Isabela: Please don’t clap and gives flowers to Pepa.

Pepa: Oh Thank you!

Isabela: oh! Its nothing. A Little sisterly advice, if you want to waste time too
hard, you wouldn’t be in a way.

M: Actually, this is called helping. and I’m not in a way, you are….

Bumps in a door.

Mother (huda): ohhooooo, Meribal you don’t have to do this.

Meribal: I know mama! Phew (she puts the gift basket on the shelf)
Just want to do my part for the rest of the family.

Father (umer): first day after gift ceremony, you might have lots of emotions.
Chhchhhchhh

Mother: uhhh! Austin.

Father: when I was married into this family, outsiders never ever have gifts and
surrounded by the exceptionals, it was easy to feel unexceptional.

Meribal: ok daddy!!
Mother: Eat, Austin!

Mother: Meribal, if you ever wanna talk…

Meribal: I gotta put up stuff. (holds things in her hand)

Father and mother: Remember, you have nothing to prove. (outloud)

Scene carried forward:

Mother: I know today is very hard for you. I wish you could see yourself the
way I do. You are perfect! Just like that and just very special as anyone else in
the family.

Meribal: you just healed my hand with a macron.

Mother: I just healed your hand with love and I love my daughter with
wonderful brain and big heart and cool glasses…

Meribal: Mama

And mother starts kissing meribal.

Scene 4 (conversation with luisa)
Resources/props required

Fish bowl, empty cartons, tent

hut for kids, (village
background-trees, plants,
muddy surface, bricks, walls
(made of cardboard).

Fish girl (shanzay): Hey luisa can you re-wrap the river and place the bridge
along the river?

Luisa: Will do.

Man (Ahmad Shahbaz): The donkeys are out again.

Luisa: On it.

Luisa stacks heavy things on her shoulders and walks down the road.

M: LUISA, wait a second, you gotta tell me about the magic. What are you
hiding?

Luisa: ive a lot of chores, you should go home now.

M: something is making you nervous.

Luisa: don’t make me drop a donkey.

M: luisa, urghhhhh just tell me what is it.

You are obviously worried about something. You need to tell me what is
wrong.

Luisa bellowed nothing is wrong,

Pause

Luisa: wowwww mmmm sorry

Scene 5: Bruno vision scene.

Background music plays

Resources/ props required

Sticks, sand, dried leaves, trees and plants on the side, candle and green
sparkly puzzle.

Bruno: what if I tell something that ive seen and you don’t like it and you
think Bruno always makes bad things happen or he is so creepy. His vision
killed my gold fish.

Mirabel: I don’t think you make bad things happen. You can do this.

Bruno: you might wanna hangon. (lend his hands and grips Ms hands)
Both closes their eyes.
Background music outloud

Bruno: we gotta stop..

Meribal: No, I need to know which way it goes, what is your vision? I need
answers.

Bruno: The magic will die and house would break and it’s the candle, candle is
getting brighter, I think you gonna help the candle.

Meribal: how?

BRUNO: There is someone with you. You are a fighter

Meribal: what?

BRUNO: No no, is that a hug.

Meribal: am I fighting or hugging?

Bruno: Embrace. Embrace (he shouts), You gotta embrace her.

Meribal: Embrace who?

BRUNO: Mmmm almost there

Meribal: who is it?

BRUNO: I got it

Meribal: Isabel (she shouts)

BRUNO: Oh your sister, that’s great.

Meribal: growls!!! grrrrrrrr

Scene 6: Another scene (we don’t talk about Bruno song)

Umbrella, living room setup and village street, a chair for doloris to stand
on, mouse for Camilo, flowers for Isabela, a glass bowl and a fish inside for
fish girl, a magical puzzle in mirabel’s hands.

Mirabel will try to join the puzzle to save magic from dying and thunder will
start.

Scene 7: Final scene- the magic is dying

Meribal: Anyone would know whats wrong with the magic. (while hiding the
green sparkly thing)
Father steps in and see her hiding that

Meribal: oooooohhhh, paaaa

Father: you said nothing, Isabela night would be perfect, nothing gonna
happen, magic isn’t dying and this house isn’t breaking…. You are not gonna
break brunos tower.. no no no just act normal.

Another door opens and D hears the conversation…

D (zimal): oooo I know! and walks away.

Meribal: she gonna tell everyone.

Scene 7 (extended) : Dinner scene of Isabela proposal begins

Resources and props required

Dinner table, napkins, runner, crockery, cream cheese bowl, avocado bowl,
drink jar, glasses, piano or guitar,

Everyone will sit on the dinner table

Alma (annaya): the madrigals will be together and that would be too good for
Encanto.

Mariano mother says (syeda Fatima): yes yes so tonight is not a horrible
disaster.

Alma: to a perfect night, saaalus!

Everyone says saaloos!

M while poring rice in her plate and looking at D

D tells something to Camilo (ahmed ali) and he changes his face

Alma pours drink in marianos mother glass.

Awkward situation ….

Camilo father (Ibrahim): Camilo fix your face.

Isabela: water and avocado

Camilo says into his father ears

His father spills out the water.

Alma: uhhh Mirabel the cream cheese

Meribal: oh yeahhh
Nervous M says: paa, the cream… (scared voice)

Camilo father says to her wife about the secret.

Pepa starts grinding and thunder begins

Alma: pepa the clouds (thunder sounds)

Pepa: please calm please calm

Pepa says to m mother

Floor starts to crack (cracking sound begins)

Mariano (: meribal everything okay?

Father (umer): mmmmmm everything is great shes just excited for you two to
propose. Which I think you should do.

M: yes yes

Mariano : I actually gonna …

Meribal: you actually gonna do now

Marianos mother (Haniya): Since everyone here has a talent, my son Mariano
wants to start by singing a song, luisa can you bring the piano.

Nervous luisa: okay (stammering voice)

Fake laugh by meribal

It’s actually family tradition to sing after

Mariano: Isabela, the most graceful of all madrigals, mmmmm

Meribal: you are doing great…

Mariano: the most perfect flower girl in the entire world

The floor cracks and luisa couldn’t hold the piano as her powers are dying.

Mariano : will you marryyyyyy

The squirrels joins the tower of Bruno

Luisa cries the magic is dying and floor cracks and chaos starts rising…

Mariano’s mother: what is happening????

D (zimal) shouts: meribals knows the brunos vision, and it is happening and we
are all doomed….

Everything cracks and falls apart

And it rains
Everyone starts running outside

Meribal: Abeula please there’s got to be an explanation

Isabela: I hate you (shouts)

Luisa: screams and cries ahhhh! im a loser.

Father: luisa

Pepa: what did you do???? Shouts at meribal

Meribal: im not doing anything its brunos vision

Scene 8: Merabel and abeula argument

Living room setup, casita (candle)

Alma: what is going on

Mirabel: abeula everything gonna be okay we are gonna save the magic

Abeuala: what are you talking about, look around, look at your sister

Mirabel: she isn’t happy

Abeula: ofcourse shes not happy, you ruined her proposal.

Mirabel: she needs to get rid of the proposal so we did all this, the cracks, the
candles were brighter, the cracks and that’s why im in the vision. And im saving
the miracle.

Abeula: you’ve to stop Mirabel (screams) the tiles cracked because of you,
Bruno left because of you. luisa lost her powers because of you, Isabela lost
control because of you. I don’t know why you are not given a gift but it is not
an excuse for you to hurt this family.

Mirabel: I would never be good enough for you. No matter how hard I try.
No matter how everyone tries, no matter luisa loses her powers or Isabela isn’t
happy, Bruno left our family because you saw worst in him.

Abeula: Bruno didn’t care about this family.

Meribal: he loves this family.

I love this family we all love this family.

Floor cracks sound begins

Mirabel: You are the one who doesn’t care. The miracle is dying because of you
Abeula: how dare you!

Meribal runs to save casita

,Meribal: casita im coming…..

Everything starts to collapse….

Pepa husband: Antonio, we gotta get out of here and runs away…

Father and mother screams: merabellllll get out

Merabel saves casita but the candle blows out
