LITERATURE FOR MASTER BUSHING AND KELLY BUSHING

MASTER BUSHING: ABMB-3750 SQ model :-
The ABMB-3750 SQ model hinged pin drive Master Bushing for 37-1/2 rotary table is
developed for off-shore OIL WELL ROTARY table. ABMB is capable to handle 2-3/8 through
13-3/8 inch O.D. drill pipe, drill collars, tubing and casing up to a load of 500 tons. ABMB with a
hinged design can be removed from the rotary table to pass large diameter bit and pipe
connections directly through the Rotary table yet it has all the performance features of a solid
master bushing. The ABMB is equipped with insert bowl No.3 (Std) and optional inserts bowl
No.1 & 2. Locking latches are provided to lock the bowls with the bushing. Master Bushing
is also equipped with retainer pins to prevent them from falling out when the hinges are

LITERATURE FOR MASTER BUSHING AND KELLY BUSHING
MASTER BUSHING: ABMB-3750 model :-
The ABMB-3750 model hinged pin drive Master Bushing for 37-1/2 rotary table is developed
for off-shore drilling operations. ABMB is capable to handle 2-3/8 through 13-3/8 inch O.D.
drill pipe, drill collars, tubing and casing up to a load of 500 tons. ABMB with a hinged design
can be removed from the rotary table to pass large diameter bit and pipe connections directly
through the Rotary table yet it has all the performance features of a solid master bushing. The
ABMB is equipped with insert bowl No.3 (Std) and optional inserts bowl No.1 & 2. The ABMB is
incorporated with latches that lock into the rotary table. Locking latches are provided that lock
the bowls into the bushing. Master Bushing is also equipped with retainer pins to prevent them
from falling out when the hinges are opened.

Autobahn Industries has developed Solid Body Pin Drive master bushing takingin in to
account different sizes of rotary table 20.½" and 27.½". The advantage of using Pin Drive Kelly
Bushings makes it possible to use extended slip bowls in the rotary table while the kelly
bushing is in operation. The extended bowls are made in three sizes for different sizes of
tubulars as given below :-

is supplied along with the following :-

Keeping in view requirement of shallow to medium depth wells ABMB - 2750 PSP, ABMB-2050
PSP & ABMB - 1750 PSP have been developed by Autobahn Industries for 27½" and 20.½"
sizes. Rotary Tables Pin drive has same advangaes as in ABMB 2750 PS , ABMB 2050 PS &
ABMB 1750 PS. The ABMB 2750 PSP , ABMB 2050 PSP & ABMB 1750 master bushings are
provided with an extended API taper in the bowls. Rise in taper by 2.½" inches, makes all slips
rise by 2.½" which makes slip handling easier. This rise of slips distributes the load uniformally
in the bushing resulting in less wear & tear of table bore. Additionally this taper provides 50%
more slip support resulting in better load managing capability.

MASTER BUSHING : ABMB -2750 SS MODEL

17.½" Through 27.½" ABMB-2750 SS is used for all drilling operations up to 10000 feet.
Square Drive Kelly Bushing ABMB-2750 SS is used where a large slip back-up area is not
needed. With the help of different sizes extended API insert bowls ABMB-2750 SS can handle
tubulars of 2.3/8" to 13.3/8" OD. The solid outer body is designed in a way that it supports all
transverse load and imparts suitable backing for split insert bowls even when the rotary table
is in use for drilling operation.

CASING BUSHING
While casing is run in to the drilled hole it is desired that casing string must be aligned with the
center of the hole and casing can be rotated during cementing operations. This ensures
placement of cement slurry uniformly around the casing for a good cement bond between
casing and borehole. Autobahn Industries has and developed Model ABCU, ABCUL, ABSCB.
Casing bushing to achieve these goals. Model ABSCB, is split bushing and is interchangeable
with VARCO CB bushing. Model ABCUL & ABCU are solid bushing and are interchangeable
with VARCO CUL & CU Bushings.

Different sizes of insert bowls are fitted in these bushings to lower many sizes of casing pipes.

The ABKB MODEL 27 PDHD OR 20 PDHD are developed for pin drive master bushing for
rotary table sizes from 27-1/2" to 49-1/2" having 25-3/4" and 23" dia pin centre. This unit is
used for heavy duty drilling operations and high torque conditions on off shore as well as on
shore drilling operations, and handle kelly sizes from 3" to 6" Square or Hexagonal.

This unit will consist of the following:

The ABKB MODEL SDHD is developed for Square Drive Master Bushing for rotary table size
from 27-1/2" to 49-1/2" . This unit is used for heavy duty drilling operations and high torque

ROTARY SLIPS
Rotary slips are one of the important handling tools used on oil field rigs and are used to hold
the tubulars firmly in the rotary table while carrying out specific operations. The slips are
denoted as per their usage/handling of tubulars i.e. drill pipe slips, drill collar slips, tubing slips
and casing slips. These are then classified as per size of the tubular used and depth of the
wells.
Keeping this in view Autobahn Industries has developed the slips as per API Standards for use
in the oil fields.
DRILL PIPE SLIPS
AUTOBAHN MAKE MODEL - RSST, MODEL - RSMD, MODEL - RSLG rotary slips are
developed for use in standards API insert bowls. The superior design provides for full
distribution of load through out the length of the slips which helps in preventing bottle necking
damage of drill pipes. Autobahn make slips have maximum load carrying capacity yet are light
weighted, result of a balanced design which provides the slips great strength also.
The inserts are changed at rig site itself in a very short time by simply removing the locking
arrangement and retainers.

MODEL - RSST, : Slips are developed for shallow well drilling.

MODEL - RSMD : Slips are developed for medium well drilling.
MODEL - RSLG : Slips are developed for deep well drilling.

CASING PIPE SLIPS
AUTOBAHN INDUSTRIES Casing Slips are made out of best quality alloy steel. Multi
Segment design of slips ensure self centering of casings in the rotary table. Slips insert are so
designed that these hold the casing pipe firmly with out causing any damage. The advantage
of multi segment design lies in the fact, that, by simply increasing or decreasing the number of
slip segments, casing sizes from 6-5/8 inch to 30 inch OD can be handled with ease while
dressing the slip with appropriate size of insert.

While running in or pulling out tubulars at oil rigs the joints (tool joints) are tightened or
loosened with the help of manual tongs or power tongs.

Dies are the principal element in the manual tongs or power tongs which carry out the job of
gripping the tool joints, before torque application. (Rollers or chain are also used for gripping
of tubulars while using pipe spinners)

case hardened to a desired depth, while leaving the inner portion (core) ductile. The hardened
surface is highly resistant to wear and exhibits quality gripping of tool joints. The inner ductile
