Knowledge
FLS stands for Flight Management
Landing System. In these approaches,
the FMS computes a virtual beam from
the runway threshold up the approach
path, by computing virtual lateral and
vertical deviations displayed on the
PFD.
FLS is not a type of Approach, it is a
Guidance Mode.
To fly all non-precision Approaches,
excepts RNP-AR, with a lookalike ILS
Display and guidance.
The aircraft has two independent GPS
receivers. Each GPS receiver is
integrated in a modular avionics unit
called MMR (Multi Mode Receiver)
(GPS 1 receiver in MMR1, GPS2
receiver in MMR2.

FLS Capability
- Initial and intermediate approach
accuracy checks to confirm the FLS
capability.
Failure cause capability
NAV FLS 1(2) FAULT Related MMR faulty F-LOC - F-G/S
NAV FLS 1+2 FAULT Both MMR faulty NO FLS
NAV GPS 1(2) FAULT Lost of one or both GPS F-APP+RAW
NAV FM/GPS POS FLS RAW ONLY
DISAGREE
- At 700ft RA, the MMR freezes the FLS
beam data. Therefore, NO change in
the FLS beam from the FMS.
-At 150ft, the FMA display
“DISCONNECT AP FOR LD”.

Alerts
- Massage on the MCDU
“NO FLS FOR THIS APP”
Is Displayed if the angle between final
approach leg and RWY leg is greater
than 50°.
6
limits
- Can only be flown in straight in
Approaches.
- it's automatically adjected for
temperature and QNH, once, they are
inserted in the PER page.
- Can be selected and captured up to
100nm (Be aware of obstacle
clearance).
- The FLS beam is displayed if:
- The LS pb is pressed. And
- In ARC mode the ND range at or
less than 80nm. Or
- In ROSE NAV mode the ND range
at or less than 160nm.
7
limits
- End Point EP is displayed on FLT-P
page as
- RWYxxx e.g. RWY32L, If EP less than or
equal to 0.14nm from the threshold.
- Epxxx e.g. EP22, If EP greater than
0.14nm from the threshold.
8
limits
- End Point EP is NOT displayed on FLT-P
page
- When the MAP is located before the
RWY threshold, the FMS computes a
fictitious point named pseudo FEP that
represents the anchor point EPxx, e.g.
EP22 (22 RWY identification) but not
displayed in the FLT-P.
