COLONIAL CONSTITUTIONS
The general features of colonial (pre-independence)
constitutions of Nigeria are:
• The constitutions were made in Britain.
• The constitutions discriminate against Nigerian
members of the British colonial organs of government
by labeling them unofficial members
• governor or governor general from 1914-1960.
• The constitutions did not give Nigeria international
recognition as a state or county.
• The constitutions could not be amended or changed
