Week 7: Atomic Structure
Week 8: Electron Configuration
Competency
Learning Outcomes:
1. Performed the steps in illustrating the atomic structure.
2. Describe what an electronic configuration is.
To start with this module, you are advised to follow these simple instructions to assure
learning.
1. Look for a good place to study to. It should have clear surroundings, proper ventilation,
free from different noise, and make sure the lights are on.
2. Prepare all the learning tools and materials.
3. Answer the pre-test based on your retained learning.
4. Read and analyze the content of the module.
5. Takedown notes so that you will remember all the important details.
6. Finish all the activities in the module. Enjoy every moment of doing it.
7. Let the facilitator/guardian evaluate your work.
8. Review and prepare for the post-test.
9. Apply the skills you have learned after doing all the activities.
1. Describe the arrangement of the elements in the modern periodic table of elements.
2. Gather facts about the elements from the modern periodic table of elements.
For this lesson, you are expected to:
1. Illustrate the atomic structure given
2. Recognize the importance of atomic structure.
3. perform the steps in writing electronic configuration.

WEEK 8: ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATION Mrs. Mj Alegre
Teacher
DIRECTION: Write in box what do you know about nucleus and electrons.
In the previous lesson we learn about the elements and the parts of the periodic table of
the elements and gather some facts about the elements from the modern periodic table of
elements.
In this lesson, we will do some atomic structure to practice your mental ability as well as
the introduction in electronic configurations.

ATOMIC REVIEW
Atom is the smallest particles that can exist on its own.
Atomic Number the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom, also known as the
number of protons.
Electron the negatively charged particles that orbits the nucleus of an atom.
Element a substance that made up of only one type of atom.
Isotopes different atoms of the same element. They have the same number of protons
and electrons, but a different number of neutrons.
Nucleus the dense charged center of an atom, made up of protons and neutrons.
Neutron a neutral particle with a mass of 1, it is found in the center of nucleus of an
atom.
Mass Number the numbers of protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom.
Proton a positively charge particles found in the nucleus of an atom.
ACTIVITY #2: Do the Structure
DIRECTIONS: Do the atomic structure of the following elements in a short bond paper.

STEPS IN WRITING ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATION
1. Determine the electronic configuration of an atom, which can be seen on the periodic table
table.
17
Cl
Chlorine
3s2 3p5
2. Determine the number of electrons. The number of electrons must be equal to the
atomic number of an element, which is equal to the total number of protons.
