Bicycle Ownership: Pros and Cons

Riding a bicycle has health and financial benefits but also safety risks. It is good for cardiovascular health as it requires exercise. It is also cheap to use as it requires no fuel. However, riding in heavy traffic can be dangerous as trucks and cars present collision risks, and drunk driving at night increases injury risks. While bicycling has health and cost advantages, the danger of traffic accidents is a drawback.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES SAMPLE ESSAY – Teacher Douglas

Lately, there has been a growing trend towards owning a bicycle here in Phnom Penh. More and more
people are starting to use them for both commuting and health. There are many benefits to owning a
bicycle, but there are also some drawbacks. This essay will discuss some of these.

One of the main advantages is that riding a bicycle is good for your health. Riding a bicycle requires you
to do exercise and get your heart rate up. This then leads to your cardiovascular health improving over
time. Another advantage is that it’s a cheap form of transportation, as it doesn’t require any fuel.

On the other hand, one of the biggest drawbacks is that it can be quite dangerous to ride a bicycle.
There is a lot of traffic nowadays, such as big trucks and cars, and during the day it can be quite difficult
to successfully navigate the traffic. Furthermore, at night time, there are a lot of drunk drivers speeding
around, and they might not see you on a bicycle, so if you get hit by a car, you will probably get seriously
injured, or worse, die.

In conclusion, riding and owning a bicycle is good for your health and is also cheap, but it can also be
dangerous. In my opinion, however, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and I encourage
everyone to get a bicycle!
