NARRATIVE REPORT
on HGP and CGP
Orientation
(Purok 1-4 and Dinaligan- Group)

The COVID-19 Pandemic has created a very large effect on the different aspect of
education. Aside from the usual teaching and learning process that undertakes on every corner
of each classroom, the pandemic also has created an impact in the aspect of developmental
domain of every learner. Despite on the crisis we face, still the Department of education is doing
its best through giving priority on the life skills development of every learners which will
empower them to overcome the different challenges and adapt to the “new normal” setting of
education.
In line with this, the Homeroom Guidance subject is included in the curriculum it will be
reflected in a report card (form 138) and to the learner’s permanent record (form 137). Which
is a proactive program designed to equip K to 12 learners with life skills on three domains:
Academic Development, Personal and Social Development and Career. This program is essential
to ensure access to quality guidance and counseling services to all types of learners.
In following with DepEd mandate, the Cantapoy National High School conducted an
orientation to the parents and senior high school students for them to be informed about the
importance of HGP and CGP. To control the number of attendees in following the safety protocol
of social distancing, the orientation was conducted by group based on the module distribution
area. HGP (Homeroom Guidance Program) orientation was conducted on November 3, there
were 3 videos presented and afterwards it was explained by the assigned teachers also the
questions raised by parent about HGP was clearly answered. Aside from HGP orientation, the
said school also conducted an orientation on November 4, 2021 regarding the CGP (Career
Guidance Program) which is designed to help the learners in exploring their choices and in
making responsible decisions relevant to career pathing. In CGP there were 5 videos presented
and the important points of the videos were clearly discussed by the assigned teachers.
The orientation was made successful because the goal was attained, it made the parents
aware that the Homeroom guidance program provides wholesome learning experiences that
will foster positive attitudes, behaviors and values. The Senior High School parents and
students, made realized that in choosing a career, the three things must be considered: their
budget, their passion/the ability and the demand of the chosen career in the labor market.
