Okay everyone thank you for all your answers , yes it is true
that when we feel so hot or we are in the hot areas the first
thing that we have in mind is to get ourselves freshen up or
go to a cooler places like mall, beaches and cafes. And it’s
also important to make ourselves hydrated .Same as with
cars, as they always operate or working it is most likely that
they got overheated by many factors and they need be
maintained to operate well.
Okay to proceed let’s have an activity, I will group you into 6
groups. Now start to count.

new concepts ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM
and practicing
skills #1:
Listening…
This
system
prevents overheating by means of controlling the
temperature of an internal combustion engine parts and
maintaining all operating dimensions, clearances, and
alignment by circulating a coolant and a fan. This keeps the
engine at its most efficient temperature at all speeds and
operating conditions. Burning fuel in the engine produces
heat. Some of this heat must be taken away before it
damages engine parts. This is one of the three jobs of
cooling system. It also helps bring the engine up to normal
operating temperature as quickly as possible. In addition,
the cooling system provides a source of heat for the
passenger-compartment heater-air-conditioner.
VIDEO PRESENTATION
What do you think the purpose of cooling system?
The cooling system keeps the engine at most
efficient temperature all speeds and operating
conditions and avoid overheating.
What will happen if this heat in an engine will not take away?
If those heat will not take away in engine, it will
cause the damages parts in engine.
Listening…
How the cooling system works?
The cooling system works by sending a liquid
coolant through passages in the engine blocks and
heads of engine. These will be done by water pump,
thermostat and radiator.
What is engine overheating?
A state when the engine is in extremely hot or it
surpasses the designated normal working
temperature which results to a point of blowing the
engine off and damaging internal parts.
BASIC COMPONENTS OF COOLING SYSTEM
RADIATOR- The main part of the cooling system in your
vehicle and has the purpose of keeping the engine coolant
fluid at the proper level .The coolant circulates throughout
the engine and keeps the engine components from
overheating. Cooling fins inside the radiator cool the fluid as
it passes over them.
WATER PUMP- It pushes coolant from the radiator through
the coolant system, into the engine and back around to the
radiator. The heat that the coolant picked up from the engine
is

transferred to the air at the radiator. Without the water pump,
the coolant just sits in the system.
THERMOSTAT-Important
components in the car
cooling system, its main
function is to regulate the
circulation of engine cooling
from the radiator to prevent overheating of the engine. While
the engine cooling system functions so that the temperature
inside the engine remains at an ideal condition.
COOLING FAN- A vital
component in a car cooling
system, that helps takes away
all heat absorbed from the engine using coolant .All its work
is done through the radiator by pushing or pulling air through
the radiator.
WATER JACKETS – Its primary purpose is to ensure the
engine overheating in an automobile, the cooling medium is
air, but larger engines often use a liquid as the cooling
medium. A water jacket is a water-filled.
COOLANT-A fluid which flows through or around the
cylinders to prevent it from overheating and transferring the
heat to the radiator.
The recommended coolant-mixture of half water and half
antifreeze-performs three basic jobs:
1. It lowers the freezing point of the engine coolant to -
34 degree Fahrenheit
2. It raises the boiling point of the engine coolant for
226 degree Fahrenheit
3. It helps protect the cooling system metals from …Listening…..
deposits and corrosion.
IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING THE COMPONENTS OF
COOLING SYSTEM:
Understanding the engine cooling system’s
components can help you better understand how
the system functions and that everything revolves
around cycle. Additionally, it would be helpful to
understand how each section or component in the
system operates because doing so would make it
simpler to search for issues.
