Cot - Lesson Plan Mathematics 2022

This lesson plan is for a 4th quarter mathematics class at Gracia Elementary School. The objectives are for students to demonstrate understanding of standard measurement units for length, mass, capacity and area, and apply this knowledge to mathematical problems and real-life situations. Specifically, the lesson will focus on comparing mass measured in grams and kilograms. Students will participate in activities to practice comparing the mass of different objects using symbols like >, <, and = and apply their knowledge to word problems. Their understanding will be evaluated through a short assignment.

LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 2

FOURTH QUARTER
May 25, 2023

I. OBJECTIVES:
 Demonstrates understanding of time standard measures of length, mass and capacity
and area using square-tile units.
 Apply knowledge of time, standard measures of length, weight and capacity, and area
using square –tile units in mathematical problems and real life situations.
 Compares Mass in Grams or Kilograms.
II. SUBJECT MATTER:
 Topic: Comparing Mass in Grams or Kilograms
 Reference : M2ME-IVd-29
 Materials : pictures, flashcard, Activity sheet, weighing scale, PowerPoint and real
object
 Integration: Values; MAPEH-Music, MTB/ ENGLISH
 Strategies: Group work, Games, Differentiated Instruction

III. PROCEDURES:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Drill
Say: Show real weighing scale.
Show cut-out of food items.
When I show an object, measured by gram, clap your hands once, if an object
measured by kilogram, clap your hands twice.
2. Review
Show picture cards as shown below. Let us compare the objects being weight.

Ask: What are there? What they can give to us?

Ask: Which vegetables are heavier? Which vegetables are less?

3. Motivation
A. Sing the” Fruit Salad Song “
B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation
Present the word story.
Si Ana og Rosa namalit og prutas sa merkado. Nipalit si Ana og 500 grams ( g ) nga
apple ug si Rosa nipalit og 3 kilogram ( kg ) nga strawberry

Say: the apples weigh 500 grams (g) while the strawberry weigh 3 kilograms (kg).
Ask: Which are heavier? Apple or strawberry? Why?
2. Performing the Activity (Differentiated Instruction)
Group 1: Compare the object in each set. Check the one that is heavy, cross out the one that
is light.

Group 2: Look at the picture. Compare the fruits and vegetables in each set. .Circle the one
that is heavy and box the one that is light.

Group 3. Compare. Write the symbols. > < =

1. 200 g _____ 100 g
2. 1000g _____ 2 kg
3. 5 kg _____ 6 kg
4. 50 kg _____ 2000g
5. 6 kg _____ 6000g

3. Processing the Activity

Remind the children that the abbreviation for gram is g and the abbreviation for
kilogram is kg.
Say: In measuring and comparing different masses of objects we use the key term
such as greater than (>), less than (<) or equal (=)
4. Reinforcing the Concept and Skills

5. Generalization
Ask: How do we compare the weight in grams and kilograms?
6. Application
Emily helped her mother sell fish in the market. They sold 10 kg of fish in the
morning. How many grams of fish did they sell? How Emily did helped her
mother? What trait did she show? Do you also help your mother?
