Team 5 has made progress on their project examining the use of natural language processing in human resources management. Subject: Update on Team 5 Project

As per your request, below is a summary of Team 5’s progress to-date, along with details about
my specific contributions to the group thus far.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Team 5 Consulting is putting together a presentation on the topic of Natural Learning Processing
(NLP) in the human resources management (HRM) field as a way to generate greater diversity
and support process and programs of inclusion.

The reach of this project will be an online audiovisual PowerPoint presentation for Professor
Garry Smolyansky and the entire Business Communications class.

BACKGROUND

Thus far in our work, Team 5 has completed an annotated bibliography, which encompassed the
topics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) across many sectors,
including automotive, project management, and HRM. Through this research, examination of
project expectations and discussion about our interests and topics that we thought would be of
interest to our classmates, we decided on the industry of human resources management and AI,
and more specifically, Natural Learning Processing and its use in developing a more diversified
and inclusive workforce.

DETAILS

At this point in our work, Team 5 Consulting has completed a complete annotated bibliography
and a comprehensive proposal requesting that we may proceed to present our topic to the class.
As a team member, my contributions included:

• Reaching out to classmates to form a group.


• Creating a Google Drive folder to house our work and upload project files.
• Authoring two entries in the annotated bibliography assignment.
• Developing the structure of the proposal assignment and dividing up the work amongst.
the team in a way that took consideration of the short timeframe we had to complete and
competing assignments and tests some members had.
• Helping my teammates understand the expectations of the annotated bibliography and
proposal assignment.
• As my teammates are non-native English speakers, I looked after the final editing of both
assignments and worked with some team members to clarify certain components or help
them better explain some of their ideas.
• Kept in communication with the group at all times and made connections to each person
to understand their goals and challenges.

Some of the problems we encountered were that it took time for us to get a firm grasp on what
the expected outcome of the assignments were; however, once I was able to provide the structure
on paper, everyone worked excellently on their parts and were very committed to the outcome.

Another issue that came up was that it seems without me my group was unable to get started on
the work. As soon I was back “online” we all worked well together to complete the assignment
as a team.

Overall, I enjoy working with this group a lot and think they do great work.

CLOSING

Right now, the project is ongoing with the virtual audiovisual presentation portion to be
completed next as the final component.

With consideration to my absence from school and having to catch up on all my subjects, I
would like to ask for an extension date of August 2, 2020 to complete the presentation.

In conclusion, I would like to ask your permission to continue this project and begin work on the
presentation portion.
