the flow from the p/p is pulsating, self primed and disch press cant be very high and I added few other points to
state which p/p I would chose based upon the reqiurements.

Q & A:
1.whenstoping purifier , it starts vibrating ,,wht the reason other than critical speed ????
Uneven deposition of sludge causes imbalance and normally when we stop the purifier we desludge it and when
the bowl is empty the imbalance increases because the space that was occupied by water is occupied by air
now. And hence it vibrates like an earthquake in the purifier room. Solution is to immediately supply closing water
and sealing water manually and wait for it to run down.
2.To check the setting of the overspeed trip on a diesel powered generator
only one way, overspeed an unloaded generator (increase governor setting) and measure with tachometer. Make
sure L.O. Temp and jacket water temp is normal and after trip do a complete crankcase inspection and run it up
again unloaded and then on load.
for daihatsu 6dk 20 a/e, no need to actuate real overspeed trip, can do a simulation test also.,open up the
corresponding d/g panel board, inside there is a digital indicator showing the current rpm and it s small unit for
overspeed trip, overspeedtrip is normally set 15% greater thn rated speed, we hav to bring the current overspeed
setting by using toggle keys down to the rated sped,i.e,720rpm, and have to set it. then the engine will trip on
overspeed trip and again we have to edit it and keep the nominal overspeed trip value and set it back to normal,
then the control level has to reset to start the engine again, and the unit is checked for correct indication of rpm.

Overflow means oil flows out in water side:this will happen due to below reasons

6)Cloverleafing-
The wear due to corrosion is cause due to the burning of heavy fuel oil in the combustion space.
This happens because heavy fuel oil contains high sulphur content. During combustion, acids are
formed inside the space which should beneutralized by cylinder oil which is alkaline in nature.
The production of acids will be more if sulfur content is more, leading to the formation of
sulphuric acid. Sulphuric acid is formed due to absorption of the condensate or moisture present
inside the combustion space.
Sulphuric acid corrosion is foundmore in the lower part of the liner as the temperature of jacket
water is very low. Corrosion due to sulphur will be high due to the presence of water in fuel and
condensate in the air. This wear is generally seen between the quills. The wear near the quills
enlarge and gives a characteristic of the clover leaf shape to the wear pattern. This phenomenon
is called clover leafing.
7)Hogging and sagging
its mainly due to rough seas ,uneven distribution of cargo.

1. Smaller deck openings in the Upper Deck.

5. Permeability for an oil-filled tank is only about 5% compared to permeability
of a grain cargo hold of 60-65%. Hence ingress of water in a
bilged compartment will be much less.
6. Larger Transverse Metacentric Height (GMT) values for an Oil Tanker,
especially for modern wide shallow draft tanker designs.

1. Open the bowl closing water/ operating water, which closes the bowl. (Ensure sufficient water is present in the
operating water tank)
1. Now after 10 seconds, open the sealing water to the bowl.
2. The sealing water should be kept open till the water comes out of the waste water outlet.
3. Once the water overflows through the waste water outlet, stop the sealing water.
4. Now open the de-sludge water/bowl opening water. (This is done to ensure the bowl has closed properly).
During de- sludge we can hear a characteristic sound at the opening of the bowl.
