The Plan of Investigation
I chose this topic because misogyny is something that affects women worldwide. Regardless
of race, ethnictiy or location, all women will experience it at least once. As someone who enjoys
learning and is currently finishing up my secondary education, it is important to me that women and
girls around the world are able to feel safe and comfortable in the classroom, and learn without fear.
As a student, this SBA will help me to improve my research skills and become better at
finding information. This paired with improving my vocabulary and essay writing skills, I will
become a better english student and a true master of the art of languages.
The information collected for this SBA was taken from various websites and organizations
including the UN, UNESCO, UniSAFE along with research journals and articles from newspapers

Reflection 1
How the material I Have Selected Shaped my Thinking on my Topic
All three articles allowed me to think more critically about teachers and their role in
their student's lives. It is sad that there are young women around the world who do not feel
safe in their classrooms because the teachers, who are supposed to protect them are actually
the ones who harm them. No matter your gender or age, all students should feel comfortable
in the classroom.
Learning about SRGBV also allowed me take a more critical look at my own
classroom. While everyone is kind to each other, there are still things that we may do or say
that are influenced by misogynistic tropes and stereotypes. Armed with this knowledge, I can
use it to educate my classmates on misogyny towards female students, and I can even make
suggestions to my teachers and principal on what can be done to make life easier for my
fellow female students.
To sum it all up, I now have a better idea of the harm that female students may face in the
classroom and what we can do to solve this problem.

Reflection 2
Reflection on the use of language in the pieces.
The language used in the various articles is quite similar. They take on a sombre
and serious, yet analytical tone. However, there are a few differences that I will point out.
The language used in the panel discussion is very emotional, with upbeat language
used now and then. This is best displayed in the phrase ‘I believe that education at its core
is the basis of how people learn to exist and interact’. The use of the expression ‘I
believe’ best displays the more emotive mood that this panel takes on, and although the
conversation does become analytical, these moments are far and few between,
On the other hand, the journal makes use primarily of analytical language and is
not very emotive at all. Phrases such as ‘may be defined generally as’, ‘based on a series
5
of studies’ and ‘for purposes of contextualising the discussions’ are all very articulate and
sounds quite scientific. The mood and tone are direct and rational, focusing on the
numbers of school-related gender-based violence rather than its emotional baggage.
Finally, the interview is primarily a mixture of both analytical and emotional
language. Expressions like ‘we know from our studies’ and ‘we feel’ assist in giving the
interview a more upbeat tone in comparison to the previous material. The mood is one
that is optimistic, which makes sense as the interview concerns the remedies for SRGBV.
Reflection 3
How the SBA process helped me become a better person.
Doing this SBA helped me in improving my analytical skills and working within a
particular time limit. After working on this, I now feel, more equipped for working within
time limits and meeting due dates.
Throughout the process, I became more astute at working with other people and learnt
that as a group leader, you do what is best for the group, not yourself. Sometimes, leaders
have to make sacrifices to keep the peace.
I feel a lot more prepeared for the future when it comes to being a leader and working
with other people.

Written Report
Project Title:
Group Members: Ajani Jno Baptiste, Jelani Massicote, Jaleel Williams, Diamond
Registe, Burzha Bertrand
No matter a woman's age, race or ethnicity, she will most likely experience some form
of misogyny in her life. It is deeply ingrained in society, making it hard to root out. With this
in mind, my group chose this theme to bring awareness to this issue and learn how
gender-based violence is displayed in every aspect of our world.
7
Five topics were chosen and each was given to one of our five members. We were to
each find three different sources for our topic, examining the different forms of gender-based
violence: a video, an article and audio. Finding a video and article was not difficult, however,
finding an audio proved to be a bit harder. After completing our research, we worked on and
finished our three reflections. We then met together and made a plan for our written report,
In video one, ‘Inspiration: What Is Gender-Based Violence”, we learn that
gender-based violence is a human rights violation and is directed against the person related to
their sex which can be sexual, physical and psychological. The news report by CNN entitled
“Secret Report on Sexual Assault” discusses how sexual violence has taken a heavy toll on
young men and women and has caused mental trauma and physical damage to the victims.
We discover the ramifications of gender-based sexual violence and the ways the victims are
affected. This was also hinted In the article entitled “Economic Violence”, we learned how
money or jobs are used to control women. It can happen in many different ways, like stealing
wages, making them work for free, or trapping them in debt. The article helps us understand
how economic violence can hurt people and make society more unfair.
Through our research, we now understand how gender-based violence can happen
anywhere and everywhere and takes on different forms, some of which are not so obvious all
the time. Completing this S.B.A. taught us the value of time management, teamwork and
improved our collaboration skills. Everyone in our group did their part and worked well. It
was somewhat smooth sailing from start to finish. There were a few rough waves along the
way, but with everyone working ardently, we were able to complete our S.B.A. fully.

Oral Presentation Plan
Poem On School Related Gender Based Violence
Breaking The Chain
Girls should feel safe at school
Even when not following the rules
Teachers should be their guards
Not kicking them in the yards
Cause no matter what the wrong they've done
Abuse is something they deserve none
Boys should likewise watch their hands
Never making untowardly demands
9
Make our teachers stand up strong
Condemning every single wrong
They should be the shining beacons
Allowing students to all feel as equals
Guiding all who are hurt
Not Treating them as dirt
Empathy is required for the job
Without that you're just a knob
No one child should be afraid
With the fear of being preyed
Little girls should have some fun
Hearing their teachers say well done
No good adult should exploit them
Or try to Detroit them
Let us bring this issue to light
So all our girls can sleep well at night
Only then can they learn
And are then more likely to return
Education is for everyone
Young and dumb and big and small
Even those we do not like
Should have knowledge of the psych
10
The more we know
Then less the fauxs
We should really break this curse
So the problem does not get worse
Breaking the long cycle of pain
Completely erasing the terrible chain
Standing together, united and bold
All our power towards the goal
Of making the classroom safe for everyone
You and I, and our future little ones
Boys and girls can both be smart
That is really the best part
Treating the two with loving kindness
Correctly practicing gender blindness
And putting a stop to school related gender Based Violence
