Gerunds and Infinitives act like verbs.

They can follow adjectives and


other verbs. Gerunds can also follow prepositions.

Verbs which are usually followed by a Gerund: Verbs which are usually followed by an infinitive:

enjoy, fancy, finish, imagine, involve, keep, justify, hesitate, hope, hurry, intend, learn, manage, mean,
mention, mind, miss, omit, postpone, practise, quit, need, offer, plan, prepare, pretend, promise, refuse,
recall, recommend, regret, report, resume, risk, resolve, say, seem, tend, threaten, want, wish.
suggest, tolerate, understand.
