General information
The SCHEUERLE vehicles of the "Combi" range are designed as a modular system, enabling universal
application over a range of sizes and payload weights.
They are particularly suitable for economical transport of large and heavy loads such as: construction
equipment, containers, boilers, machine parts, assemblies etc.

The vehicles must only be used under the operating conditions specified in the contractual
documentation and operating manual. Any other use or use beyond this is not designated use.
The manufacturer will not accept any liability for any damages resulting from such use.

The vehicle has been designed for safety in compliance with the state of the art. It meets the requirements of
the German accident prevention regulations and is safe to operate. However, the vehicle may be dangerous if
it is incorrectly operated or used for non−designated purposes as specified in the operating manual.
Consequences:
D Failure of important vehicle functions
D Danger to persons
D Danger to the environment

Usage information
This operating manual is applicable for the SCHEUERLE heavy load−carrying vehicles.
It must always be available where the vehicle is operated.
This operating manual contains important information on operating the vehicle safely, correctly and
economically. It helps to prevent danger, minimise repair costs and downtime and increase the reliability and
life of the vehicle.
Apart for the operating manual and the accident prevention regulations governing the country of use, all other
technical standards and regulations must be observed (such as safe working practices in accordance with UVV,
VBG, VDI, VDE, StVZO, StVO etc.).
Please contact the manufacture to clarify any difficulties.
The platform trailers are fitted with hydraulic axle compensation and hydraulic steering. The large axle
compensation ensures that all pendulum axles within a support group are equally loaded. This prevents
individual pendulum axles from being overloaded.
The rear hydraulic steering makes it easy for the operator to move the vehicle into a desired position.
The modular design enables a wide variety of coupling types. The individual vehicles can be combined in many
different ways depending on the transport requirement.

Safety regulations

If the regulations are not observed personal injury and damage to property may occur!

If the regulations are not observed, the manufacturer may refuse to accept liability and the
warranty may not be honoured.

1. Only trained and authorised operators may operate the vehicle.

2. The operators’ responsibilities must be clearly specified and observed.
3. The operator must ensure that unauthorised persons are not in the vicinity of the vehicle.
4. The vehicle must be in safe operating condition at all times. Any design changes to the vehicle immediately cancel its operating
authorisation.
5. All persons involved with transport, setup, operation, maintenance and repair of the vehicle must read and understand the operating

manual, particularly the sections on safety, which are marked with or . . The manufacturer recommends confirming this
in writing.
6. None of the safety equipment may be disabled or modified.
7. Nothing on the vehicle may be changed or added, otherwise safety may be compromised.
8. Repair and maintenance work must be carried out by authorised and trained personnel only.
9. Only trained technicians may work on the hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
10. Use only original spare parts, otherwise no liability for warranty claims will be accepted.
11. The maximum allowable overall weight of the vehicle must not be exceeded under any circumstances. The centre of gravity of the load
must always be in the payload centre point of the vehicle (→load diagrams). If the centre of gravity of the load is outside the payload
centre point, the allowable payload is reduced (→payload displacement diagrams).
12. The allowable static support pressure must not be exceeded in any support group.
13. The load must be fastened securely.
14. The type of support must be selected depending on the loading case and the roadway conditions and the stop valves provided must
be adjusted correctly.
15. The maximum speed specified in the vehicle approval papers must not be exceeded. In addition, the allowable maximum speeds
depending on the axle load must be observed and must be reduced for poor road and weather conditions.
16. Before attaching the connection hoses, close no. 7 GREEN valves, and open no. 9 BLACK/WHITE and no. 10 BROWN/YELLOW.
17. On vehicles with access ramps do not remain in the swivel range of the ramps after releasing the ramp securing devices.
18. Before moving the vehicle the driving height of the platform must be set to the value specified in the datasheets. The speed must be
reduced if the driving height deviates from the set height. The vehicle must be driven at walking speed only at the lowest or highest
platform setting. A minimum axle compensation of ±50 mm must still be possible to prevent damage to the axles and platform carriers.
19. The brake system and lights must be checked before moving the vehicle. The correct positioning and safety chains of all mechanical
connections must be checked.
20. The vehicle must be tracked exactly before moving.
21. The pressure of the displacement steering must be checked before moving the vehicle.
22. The no. 8 BROWN valves for the hydraulic tank must be open during driving mode. Exceptions are described in the operating manual.
23. See the following items for work on the hydraulic system:
D The hydraulic system must be depressurised; this is particularly important for all pressure tanks.
D Hydraulic lines must only be opened when pressure has been released. (Check). Cleanliness is extremely important.
D The hydraulic system must be carefully checked by a technician before it is operated again.
24. The main battery switch must be switched off and secured to prevent unauthorised reactivation before any work on the electrical system
and any welding work.
25. All no. 7 GREEN valves must be closed for all work on the vehicle. All no. 7 GREEN valves must be open when moving the vehicle.
26. If work on the vehicle must be carried out with the hydraulic system operating at the same time, a second person must always be present
to stop it if required.
27. The applicable national regulations for accident prevention and the rules of the road must always be observed.
28. The cover plates are designed for vehicles equipped with all axles and the standard track rods. They are not approved on the use of
track rods with a length of 4500mm. Due to vibration the track rods may hit the cover plates and as a result loosen the plates. It is
therefore possible the cover plates may be lost.

Vehicle Identification Number

All vehicles (or vehicle components) supplied by SCHEUERLE have a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). This
number is unique in the world. Read the VIN as follows to identify the vehicle exactly:

Putting into operation

The documentation includes the operation of:
D Individual components
D Articulated platform combinations
D Platform combinations

The operator must be thoroughly familiar with the operating manual before operating the
vehicle.

. The specifications of the platform trailers can be found in the registration papers.

Checks before operation

The following checks must be made before moving the vehicle:
1. Check functioning of the lighting system.
2. Set hydraulic system valves as specified for the combination (>Chap. 7) and check them.
3. Check connecting hoses for correct seating and damage.
4. Run brake function test.
(Set manual braking force controller for the loaded weight).
5. Release RED" stop valves for the handbrake in every platform trailer.
6. Track displacement steering exactly.
7. Check steering pressure.
8. Carry out visual inspection of tyres, axles, steering, brake and support cylinders.
9. Carry out visual inspection of the vehicle frame for cracks and other damage.
10.Raise platform trailer to driving height. (see specifications for platform trailer).
11.Open all no. 7 GREEN valves.
12.Plugs, pins etc. must be secured.
13.Check the centre of gravity of the load. All manometers must show the same pressure.
14.In all circumstances the ABS is to be connected via the sockets (ABS instruction).
15.Secure load sufficiently.
16.Check the following with telescoping bridges: Locking display must be clicked in
Display pins in bridge slides.

Do not drive without the locking pins clicked into place.

Vent connection for brake system in the combination

When driving with one or more platform trailers a special vent coupling must be inserted into one of the free
