Course Title Mathematics for Grade 9 Learners
Course Credit (hours/week) 5 hours/week
The course is an extensive lecture and activities in grade 9 Mathematics. The modules in this course are distributed in each quarter. For the first quarter lessons, it covers Module
Course Description 1(Quadratic Equations and Inequalities) and Module 2(Quadratic Functions). While Module 3(Variation) and Module 4 (Radical Expressions) are the coverage the second quarter
lesson. For the third quarter lesson, it covers Module 5(Quadrilaterals) and Module 6(Similarity in Triangles). And lastly, the fourth quarter lesson covers the Module
7(Introduction to Trigonometry).
After completing this course, the students are able to:
1. Describe quadratic equations in one variable and solve them by different methods.
Course Objectives 2. Explore the concepts involving quadratic function and its graph and solve problems involving quadratic functions and equations.
3. Examine relationships of quantities that involve variation and solve problems involving direct, indirect, joint, and combined variation.
4. Perform fundamental operations on expressions involving radicals and solve problems involving expressions and equations with radicals.
5. Prove and use concepts on triangle similarity, particularly on similarity of right triangles to solve problems.
6. Show wise use of the key concepts in the properties and theorems of all quadrilaterals.
7. Probe the concept of trigonometric ratios and use these to solve problems on angles of elevation and depression.
8. Give significance of their knowledge from every module and apply them in real-life situations through day-to-day activities.
