Art Therapy Workshop in Manila

Facilitated by:
Aryan Judith S. Dolores, RPm, LPT
Goals and Objectives:
The process of doing art can sometimes help people become more aware of feelings
previously hidden from them, or of which they were only partly aware. Art therapy can
help participants to have clearer idea about their confused feelings. In this workshop,
participants will be using art to help them release feelings, e.g., anger and grief, and
provide a safe and acceptable way of dealing with unacceptable feelings. During the
activity, participants will look at their current situations and ways of making changes
about possible futures without the commitment of reality.
Activity 1. Getting into the Art Therapy process
 This activity is design to help participants ‘warm up’ by interacting with each other
in a non-threatening way, relearning how to play and get used to paints,
introducing self on paper and begin to use the art therapy process.
Activity 2. Metaphors and Interpretations
 This activity will introduce some art therapy approaches (guided imagery,
metaphors) and help participants to become aware of the dangers of uninformed
attempts at interpretation.
Activity 3. Groupwork
 In group work activity, participants will look into different ways of working
interactively.
Activity 4. Personal work
 This activity shall provide time and space for participants to engage in a longer
personal piece of work. Alongside, there will be individual tutorials to discuss
their assignments and give a glimpse of how art therapy worked in practice.
