t. (Date and time, Objectives, Goals, Purpose of your visit)
Date – 29/01/23
Village – Naduvakkarai
Purpose – To practically implement the karma Yoga learnings in real life situation
2. Please describe the activities done to complete the action plan. (Work done in the field)
We divided our group into two sub groups and The first step to teaching children in a rural
village is to build trust and rapport with the students and their families.
Establishing a safe, welcoming learning environment is essential for students to
feel comfortable and secure in their learning. This can be done by getting to
know the students and their families, taking time to learn about their culture,
and to build relationships with them. Once a relationship of trust has been
established, it is important to create an engaging environment for learning. This
can involve a variety of activities, such as storytelling, games, and hands-on
activities. Utilizing the available resources in the village, such as local stories
and cultural symbols, can help to make learning more meaningful and enjoyable.
3. What did you observe 29th January and would like to implement in your next field visit? (Next level of action)
Apart from teaching children we found that it would be better if we could help the women in the village by forming self
help group so that they could monetise the skills which they have . Currently there are 26 women in the SHG who are
good in bangles making and masala powder making.
4. What is the learning outcome from this field visit? (Lessons learned.)
After visiting our assigned village, I have gained a better understanding of rural
life and the daily challenges faced by people living in rural areas. I have gained
an appreciation of the different ways of life and unique cultural values that are
present in rural communities, and a deeper understanding of the importance of
preserving local traditions and customs. Furthermore, I have gained an
understanding of the need for greater access to resources and services for
people living in rural areas and the importance of creating opportunities for
economic development.
