million, of which 90% came f rom China Eximbank
and the other 10% f rom the Government of Indonesia.

The main works of the project encompasses dam,


diversion tunnel, spillway, plunge pool, irrigation
outlet, water intake part of the headrace tunnel,
access gallery, grouting gallery and hydromechanical
works.

To implement this project, Sinohydro imported more


than 200 units/sets of large-size civil construction
equipment valued at USD 25 million f rom various
countries.

today remains the largest overseas reconstruction project
f inanced by Chinese private donations, aimed to rebuild a
township destroyed by the 2004 tsunami, which included
building 606 new houses, schools, a kindergarten, a mosque
and supporting facilities. Reconstruction began in May 2006
and was completed in July 2007. There were other similar
projects undertaken by other foreign aid agencies, but the
township reconstructed by Sinohydro was singled out by
