NANOGROUT CFG
Pre Mixed Grout for Post-Tensioned Cable Ducts and Sonic
Tubes in Concrete Piles

EQUIPMENTS & MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

The following equipment shall be used: FOR MIXING

The following equipment shall be used: FOR MIXING

o Low speed hand drill 500-600 rpm (for Lab trials) with mixing paddle, Marsh Cone,
1 ltr measuring jar and Stop watch
o Mixing bucket,. Ice or chilled water, NanoGrout CFG
o High speed shear (Colloidal) grout mixer & grout pump (for Site trials)
o Thermometer to check temperature, graduated measuring cylinder
o 50 mm cube moulds for compressive strength
o Standby Grouting mixer and pump

Specification requirements for field testing may vary by project and not all of the
listed equipment may be necessary. An air-compressor is needed for a supply of
oil-free compressed air for checking ducts for integrity and leaks or help blow out
any water.
Lengths of air hose should be sufficient to insert and reach along ducts to blow debris
or water out as necessary.

INSPECTION

a)Inspect the concrete surfaces, Post / Pre Tensioned Cables, Sonic Tubes in concrete
piles which are to receive grout and verify that they are free of dirt, grease, oil, curing
compounds, paints, impregnation and all loose material or foreign matter including sand,
which is likely to affect the bond or performance of the grout.

b) Mixer : The mixer should be capable of continuous mechanical mixing to produce a

homogeneous, stable, grout free of lumps or un-dispersed material that it supplies
continuously to the pump. Mixers are of two main types: vane (or paddle) mixers with a
speed of about 1,000 rpm or highspeed shear (colloidal) mixers with a speed of about 1,500
rpm. The high speed mixer distributes cement more uniformly, improves bleed
characteristics and minimizes cement lumps.
All equipment should be clean and sound.

C) Grout Pump : Grout pumps should be of the positive displacement type and able to
maintain an outlet pressure of at least 1MPa (145psi) with little variation. The pump,
hoses and connections should be able to maintain pressure on completely grouted
ducts. A shut-off valve should be installed in the line so that it can be closed off under

pressure, as necessary. Pumps should have a system for re-circulating the grout when
pumping is not in progress and should have seals to prevent oil, air or other foreign
substance entering the grout or prevent loss of grout or water.

Confirm newly placed concrete has been cured sufficiently to attain its design strength and
limit of further shrinkage.

PREPARATION
a) All necessary preparatory work must be completed before the grout is mixed.
b) Site trials may be carried out to confirm that suitable equipment is available and an
appropriate water / powder ratio is chosen.
c) All equipment should be checked and sound.
d) Clean all cables and rods of oxidation, oil and dirt. Pressure flushing may be required

MIXING AND PLACING

a) Grout shall be mixed in accordance with the manufacture’s recommendations.
Carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions as printed in the data sheet.
b) Suitable mixing equipment shall be used in order to mix the grout (a low speed drill-
with a mixing paddle) suitable mixing may be achieved using a high torque slow
speed drill with a grout stirrer. Drill to be max. 600 R.P.M.
d) Pour the required quantity of clean, chilled water (4 – 7 °C) into the mixing vessel.
Slowly add NanoGrout CFG to the water whilst continually mixing. Keep the mixed
grout in a slow agitating holding tank prior to placing. The grout can be mixed to fluid
of flowable consistencies, depending on the job application.
e) Lab Trials : Mix the grout for 3 minutes, keep it for 2 minutes & again re-mix for 2 +3
minutes for a uniform consistency and better fluidity. Grout shall be free from lumps
f) Mix only the amount of grout that can be placed in 40 – 60 minutes

PLACING
a) Place NanoGrout CFG in accordance with established grouting procedure (as per
specification for grouting Post –Tension Structures)
b) Where NanoGrout CFG will be pumped into place the grout pump should be of the
positive displacement type capable of generating at least 10 bars pressure. Up to 40
bars may be required to fill particularly long or high upward running ducts. The rate and
continuity of placing should be controlled to encourage good penetration of grout into the
voids within the duct and the expulsion of air from the duct.
c) Grout may be placed at temperatures between 10° C and 35°C.
d) In order to obtain full expansion of the grout in place, limit batch sizes to the amount of
grout placement that can be completed within 1 hour

CURING
a) After grouting has been completed, or when the formwork is removed, any exposed
grout may be cured immediately.
b) The method of curing can be as follows, the use of wet burlap or mist spray. Protect
the grout from direct sunlight and extreme weather conditions.

CONMIX CONSTRUCTION CHEMICALS

c) Protect the grout from direct sunlight and from extreme weather conditions.
e) Remove the form work only after the grout has completely hardened.

LIMITATIONS
a) The grout performs best when fully restrained or confined on all surfaces
b) Ambient temperatures shall be between 10°C and 35°C.

STORAGE
Store grout in original bags in the shade, Keep dry.
Use grout only from original, unopened bags clearly labeled with the manufacturers
identification & printed instructions.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Gloves, Mask, Eye Protection, Helmets, Safety Shoes

HEALTH AND SAFETY

NanoGrout CFG is alkaline in nature, wear goggles and gloves while handling the
material. In case of contact with skin, wash with water. In case of contact with eyes,
flush with water immediately and consult a physician.
