I. Objectives:
A. Recognize words, phrases and sentences with ay as it sounds in day.
B. Note details in a selection read.

II. Subject Matter:


A. Fuller Lesson 11 - ay as in day
B. Materials - flashcards with words, phrases, sentences, pictures.
C. Value - Taking Care of Animals

III. Procedure:
A. Drill:

B. Opener: (Song)
Happy Day
Monday, Today is Monday,
Monday (2x), What a happy day.
Monday, Today is Monday.

C. Motivation:
Do you have a pet at home?
How do you take care of your pet?
Who among you have been to a pet shop?
What can you see in a pet shop?
Today, we will learn new words with ay as in day.

D. Presentation:
Teacher introduces the word family ay, Pupils repeat ay.
Pupil sounds initial d and ay. Then read day.
Do the same with other words in ay family.
The word are read by the whole class, then by groups, by rows and by individual pupils.

4. Comprehension Questions:

What does he get?
Where is the pet shop?
What does he buy at the pet shop?
Do you want to play at the bay? Why?

F. Exercises:
Activity 1 – Flash card drill: use word families, phrases, sentences.
Activity 2 – Match the word with the picture in the box by drawing a line.
