0 INTRODUCTION
This manual contains the complete instruction for the connections and the calibration,
relating the RAVAGLIOLI wheel aligner equipment RAVTD5040TWS - RAVTD5040WD -
RAVTD5040WS
RAVTD8060TWS/TWSR – RAVTD8080TWS/TWSR series.

WARNING: The instructions for the connections of the cabinet and the internal
devices of the sensor heads are shown in the manual R0184.

Instructions relating to use and maintenance (skilled the final users) are indicated
in the specific manual equipped with the equipment.

IMPORTANT! The procedure of “CALIBRATION” is reserved to personnel of

technical services centres licensed RAVAGLIOLI S.p.A. for this
reason the access is linked by a password.
Such password, that must be NOT communicate to other person,
is the sequences of keys “F4; F3; F2; F4”.

1 INSTALLATION AND UPDATING OF THE RAV PROGRAM

1.1 Installation
The operating software of the equipment wheel alignment RAV series RAVTD5040WD/
RAVTD5040WS - RAVTD8060TWS – RAVTD8080TW you install through the CD / USB
key 18222. Simply run setup.exe and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

NOTE: You must enter the appropriate smartkey

On operating systems Win 7 or Win 8 may need to be installed-SENTINEL HASP drivers.
Ask the manufacturer for those drivers, if is not available.

Run Setup.exe ad then click on “Next”.

Select the desired alignment model:

 “Alg_A” serie TD5000 Model
 “Alg_B” serie TD8000 selection

Click on “Next” and wait for file

installation.

terminated.
At this point the system will again
perform a start operation and
automatically run the alignment
program.

By means of keys F2/F3 select the
type of measuring heads suitable for
the alignment model. (See example in
Figure 5)
Now set the language and suitable options
in the “System Configuration” menu.

ATTENTION: Only for 4 sensors models, car and truck, RAVTD5040WD/WS -

RAVTD5040TWS, you must run the configuration file. "Reg" by double clicking on the file
command "WACCD.reg", located inside the USB stick together the installation program.

registry parameters

1.2 Setting the logo of the dealer

In the RAVAGLIOLI wheel aligner program there is the possibility to put in the first logo
page and in the final printout (on the top right side) a pictures with logo and a text of the
dealer; the procedure to set it is as follow:
- Create a file representing the logo of the dealer, called “DEALER.BMP” in BMP format
(150x80 pixel)
- Create, eventually also a file called
“DEALER.TXT” in TXT format,
simply using the Windows notepad
(2 lines max 20 character per line)
- Copy these files on a floppy disk;
Then use the RESTORE procedure
of the option BACKUP/RESTORE
(see the Figure 17) in order put the
logo in the program.
- On the first page will appear the
logo as in the below example
(Figure 6)

To remove the dealer logo and text:
In the first page of the program
press contemporaneously the keys
“Ctrl” and “Canc” (or “Del”), will
appears the below display page

2 COMBINING OF THE SENSOR HEADS WITH THE CABINET

2.1 BLUETOOTH Sensors - WS series

Select the “Run…” option of the Start

menu;
Edit the command “BTADDRWACCD”
and click on the “OK” button.
See the Figure 8.
Appear the display page of Figure 9.

Enter regarding the heads Front Left
(LH) and Right (RH), the respective
Bluetooth addresses.
The addresses are pointed out on a
label sticked in the back of the head,
or inside the rear cover.
Then press F3 key .
If those were not more readable, it is
possible ask for the heads through the
calibration or WASS cables.
Connect both the front measuring
heads, switch them on and press the
F2 key.

If the addresses Bluetooth are unknown and you do not have cable WASS you can run
the command "BTPAIRWACCD" instead of "BTADDRWACCD."
In this case, the MAC address of the sensors are automatically listed and you can
proceed to the association by pressing the F3 key.

NOTE: It is necessary that during this procedure only 2 sensors are turned on, otherwise
the system can not distinguish which automatically associate.

After some seconds appear the

corresponding addresses (see the
example in Figure 10).
Disconnect the measuring heads, keep
them turned on.

Press the F3 key, in

order to combine the measuring
heads with the cabinet.

Appear the page of confirmation,

indicated in Figure 11.

Press the F4 key “YES” in order to

confirm the combining of Bluetooth
heads with the cabinet.

Wait some seconds, appear the page

indicated in Figure 12.

Press the F1 ““ key to finish the

“Heads – Cabinet combining”.
The program returns to the initial
page of Figure 10.

To exit from the program and return

to the Windows desktop press the F1

When the RAV program will be

launched, on the right side below, will
appear the logo.
Complete the program configuration in
the configuration menu of the Rav TD
program.

To remove the combining (*) Bluetooth,

from the Figure 10 page, press the F4

key and confirm in the

next page that appear.

(*) The “combine removing”, could be

eventually useful to set again the
system as NO Bluetooth

2.2 WIRED Sensors - WD series

To associate the sensors 5040WD (WIRED) run the command "TSCONF" from the RUN
(Run) of the Start menu.
Detailed instructions are given in the specific manual R0188.

3 CALIBRATIONS
3.1 Measuring head calibration
The measuring heads of the RAV wheel aligner are already factory set; moreover, the
calibration settings are stored in the CPU memory of the measuring head itself. At the time of
installation or changing a measuring head, the appliance does not therefore require data
calibration or configuration. Calibration is only required if the transducers are changed or
following ascertained repeated errors due to transducer movement (as a result of falls,
knocks, etc.). Use the following calibration systems depending on the models provided:
1) TDA14 calibration system (FOR ALL MODELS)

"Calibration" option and confirm by key
F4.

the calibration phase:

All models except TD5040

Calibration of the measuring heads is split into 8 stages, described in detail, including
graphically, in the calibration program.
In stages 1 and 2, the front and rear left hand measuring heads are fitted and the Left
Alignment and Level angles are calibrated (AFL, ARL, LFL, LRL)
In stages 3 and 4, the front and rear right hand measuring heads are fitted and the Right
Alignment and Level angles are calibrated (AFR, ARR, LFR, LRR)
In stages 5 and 6 the front left hand and front right hand measuring heads are fitted
and the Front Toe-in and Camber angles are calibrated (TFL, TFR, CFL, CFR)
In stages 7 and 8 the rear left hand and rear right hand measuring heads are fitted and
the Rear Toe-in and Camber angles are calibrated (TRL, TRR, CRL, CRR)

Models TD5040
Measuring head calibration is split into just 4 stages, graphically described in the
calibration program. Only the front measuring heads are calibrated because the rear
ones only act as reference for alignment.
In stage 1, the two front measuring heads are fitted and the Alignment angles are
calibrated (AFL, AFR).
In stages 3 and 4, the two front measuring heads are fitted and the Toe-in and camber
angles are calibrated (TFL, TFR, CFL, CFR)

3.2 Caster compensation procedure

The first option of the calibration
menu (see Figure 17), is used in order
to adjust the caster angles readings
caused by eventual “out of level” of the
vehicle in longitudinal direction. This
could happens, for example, when the
lift groove of the turntables, have a
differently height than the turntables
height.
It is necessary set, simply by the key
F2 and F3, the difference between the
front wheel height and the rear wheel
height (see Figure 20).

The apparatus will automatically

adjust the caster reading, considering
this difference relating it with a
standard wheel base of the vehicle.

3.3 Steering Self calibration procedure

If the measuring heads are not
perfectly calibrated could happens
that after the adjustment of the
vehicle, on the road, it will result with
the steering wheel not in the straight
position. The second option of the
calibration menu (see Figure 17), is
used in order to adjust the position of
the steering wheel. It is necessary set,
simply by the key F2 and F3, the
position how become actually the
steering wheel (see Figure 21). The
apparatus will compensate
automatically the reading values in
order to obtain a position straight of
the steering wheel.

4 TEST PROCEDURES
By means of the TEST procedure program it is possible to verify the correct working of all
the devices present in the wheel aligner system.
It is necessary select the TEST procedure menu as follows:
In the initial logo page press simultaneously the key CTRL - F2, will appear the display
page of Figure 22.
In this display page, it is already possible check the Firmware version on the 4
measuring heads (they have to be positioned in order that they can communicate
between them and to the cabinet, e.g. mounted on a vehicle).

4.1 Video Test

On the screen is displayed a special page with different colours, in this condition it is
easily to calibrate the colours settings and carry all the adjustment of the monitor.
Press a key on the PC keyboard to exit

4.2 Printer Test

By setting this test will simply send from the PC to the printer a test page with different
characters and colours. Through this test it is possible to verify the correct connection to
the PC. By this test verify also the regular paper feeding.

4.3 Keyboard Test

On the screen is displayed a
representation of the measuring heads
keyboards and the 4 function keys; if a
key were pressed again and again, the
one linked on the screen will become of
the his real colour an will return
uncoloured again; (see Figure 23).
Press the key ENTER on the PC
keyboard to exit.

4.4 Reading angles horizontal/vertical Test

On the screen are displayed all the
angle readings from the measuring
heads; they are divided into 4 groups as
follows:
Alignment angles (see example of Figure
24); Toe-in angles; Level and camber of
front measuring heads; Level and
camber of rear measuring heads

It is possible by this test verify the

correct working of the different
transducers horizontal and vertical.
By pressing the key F2 were displayed a
picture that is a graphically
representation of all the angles initials
(see Figure 18).

4.5 Encoder on turntables Test

On the screen are displayed the readings of
the angular transducer (encoder) mounted
below the turntables
It is possible by this test verify the correct
working of the encoders simply turning the
upper plate and check that the value
displayed correspond to the real angle
carried out (see Figure 25).
The yellow key (or F3 on PC keyboard) is
used to set to zero the value displayed on
the screen.

4.6 Counter of the performed aligner test

In the initial logo page, press
simultaneously the key CTRL-F12, will
appear the counter display (see Figure 26).
To disable the test counter displaying
press again the key CTRL-F12.
NOTE: at the equipment switching-on the
counter displaying is always disabled.
