In my country , There are various kinds of energy such as : light energy, solar
energy , wind energy … However, the most popular power in my country Viet
Nam is electrical energy because of it’s ability to improve quality of life, dive

advancement , transform the way we live and work . Its dominance has led to
the creation of a robust and reliable electrical infrastructure, allowing
electricity to play a central role in modern life.

2) What do you often do to save water ?

From my view , i usually turn off unnescessary equiptments to save more
water . Let’s take in bathroom as example : i will not let the water run while
shaving or brushing teeth or Take short showers instead of tub baths. An

There are many ways , which people are wasting electricity uncounsiously
such as leaving the light on , charing their laptop even when it’s at 100%, turn
on conditioner when everbody is out, forgetting to clean or maintain
appliances .. Therefore, to cut down on using unnecessary electrical
equipment , we can focus on these small actions to power-saving electricity .
Saving energy is not only helping people avoiding wasting money because a
peny saved is a peny earned but also maintain electrical resources for next
generation .

4) Do you think we can repalce fossil fuels with renewable energy

sources ?
Yes, i do . Fossil fuels are the biggest driver behind the climate crisis.
Therefore, to fight climate change, i hope that someday, renewable energy
will replace fossil fuels entirely to slow down and reverse the damage done
to the planet . Beside that , we need to have a essencial long-term plan to
deal with this issue .

5) Why do you think the prices of oil and gasoline keep rising ?
Personally speaking , there are various reasons, which lead to the prices of oil
and gasoline keep rising in the recent year. Firstly, after covid 19 Pandemic ,
people hit the road again in 2021, More vehicles of all types took to the road.
More planes took off. Demand for gas climbed, but supply couldn’t catch up.
So gas prices rose. Secondly , In early 2022,Russia conflicted Ukraine in late
February also had an impact on the price of oil and gasoline . However , the
most important thing is fossil fuels , which are not inexhausted . Therefore,
when people over exploit Non-renewable energy , it will run out .

6) What actions can individual take to save water and electricity ?

There are many actions that individual can save more hydropower as well as
eclectrical energy at home . For example , we can Turn lights off when you
leave the room, Don’t use air conditioning at night, Save energy at your
properties with more efficient appliances, Don’t waste water waiting for the
shower to heat up, Skip baths, shower instead… The most important thing is
rising awearness about protecting powers .

7) In what ways have inductries used energy sources inefficiently ?

8) Should goverments impose a tax or finacial fine on companies what
over-exploit natural resources ?
I personally believe that What the Government should do right now is
imposing severe penalties and discourage the mass companies , who
overusing natural resources to curb the over usage of natural resource .
Beside that financial punishments , There are some other possible strict law
should apply to preserve powers such as comumunity service to petty crimes ,
put sb behind the bar for henious .

9) What are the problems associated with the increase in the use of private
vihicles ?
There are many problems ralated to the rising of using private vihicles . Firstly
, the congestion increase dramatically on the road , which lead to accidents ,
futher casualities and have nagative impact on economy . Beside that , traffic
jams will make vihicles slowly down and cosume more fuels . These thing will
create more automobike emissions and waste oil and gasoline . The rusult is ,
it contributes Environmental hazard such as : green house , energy crisic or
even climate change ….

10) Do you think cars should be banned from city center ?

Personally speaking , car might be convenient, but having too many cars on
the road can cause problems. Heavy traffic is a safety hazard and it pollutes
the air. A major advantage of banning cars from cities is that it improves the
environmental conditions in multiple ways. Cities might eventually have mostly
zero-emission electric car . Beside that , numerous cars on the road create a
great deal of noise pollution and it leads to having negative health
consequences . Moreover, another health standpoint, banning cars from
cities would result in more people walking. Consequently, more people would

be fit and experience the health benefits of exercise.

11)Do you think nuclear power safe ? Who should be allowed to use it and
why ?
Yes , According to a newspaper , which i read about Nuclear power in United
State. This country voided more than 471 million metric tons of carbon dioxide
emissions in 2020. Therefore, I think Nuclear power is a zero-emission clean
energy source , which can keep the air clean by removing thousands of tons
of harmful air pollutants each year that contribute to acid rain, smog, lung
cancer or disease .
From my view , The goverment should manage to allow using nuclear power
for cooperation or factories , who have ability to generate nuclear for people .
It is because, beside many benifits of nuclear energy such as : support
national security , create more jobs , clean the energy resource … It’s also
exist drawback sides .

I. Describe an eco-friendly vehicle you would like to buy in the future

You should say :
- What kind of vehicle it is
- When you are going to buy it
- What you would use it for and explain why you want to own it .

I would by an electrical car which name Tesla by Elon Musk . I want to purchase it
because i have passed the driving test since 2021 and I set the plan that i will buy it
in the end next year . I crave this great car for the purpose of taking me and my
whole family to different places at ease without having to worry about waiting for
public transportation or unlikely event such as rain, storm , … as well as it would help
me commute to my school easier and quicker. Beside that , If i bought that car , i
could save more money because my job is content creator on social media . Hence ,
i need to move regularly to record video and take new photos to update on my
channel . Thank to this car , i will not pay a huge mount of money of moving by taxi .
The most important thing is this is a electrial car and it can limit the carbon dioxine
emisssion , which do harmful on our health and evnironment . However , Tesla is not
prevalent in Vietnam and there are no many store display it . Therefore, i would
waiting for over a year to can recieve this car if i odered it .

II. Describe an environmental problem related to energy sources that has

been in the news
Honestly! I didn’t focus on reading newspaper or watching news about this
topic but as far as I know, carbon dioxide contributes greatly to this problem.
Carbon dioxide and other pollutants are released by vehicles and factories ,
which we use fosiil fules on a daily basis. As a result, heat from the sun
becomes trapped and this issue immidiately become a hot topic about climate
change , which is put at an alarming rate . As a result , this problem impact
drirectly on the ozone layer and lead to the greenhouse effect.

As a consequence of global warming, glaciers are melting, resulting in rising

sea levels and flooding in some areas. Supposedly, it also considerably
affects weather conditions too, making storms significantly more
dangerous.Furthure more, this nagative influence also push precious wilflife
closer to the brink of extinction .
Therefore, what we should do right now is using public transportation instead
of private one . In addition to this , using renewable energy make up for fossil
fuels could help to reduce pollution levels considerably

Family
1) How much time do you spend with your family ?
well, i try to spend as much time possible as i can on my family when i
have a chance to return my home town , which is located in the middle
region of Viet Nam , Quang Tri . I usually get home about 1 week in
special holiday such as Tet holiday or summer … because i have
moved into HCM city to study and work when i was 18 year olds .There
fore, I often cook traditional foods for my beloved family’s member ,
serve self-dishes or clean the house for my mom to make up for a long
time i was absent at home .
2) How well do you get on with your parents ?
i count my self lucky when i was born in my family , which have role
mordel parents and kindness siblings. Therefore , my family bond
relationship each other . When i have free time , to show my gratitude
to my parents , i ussally cook some delicious foods for my family
because my parent value the spiritual meaning more than materialistic
one . enjoying the reunion meal , we will have idle chit-chat about
what’s going on in our lives. Thank to these moments , i have a chance
to enhance tight-kit relationship among family’s member .

3) what do you like most about living with your family ?

well, there are various things i love about getting along with my family .
One of these things is having diner together to confide all of happiness
and sadness in my beloved family’s member , particularly with my
mom. I share absolutely everything with her and she is the best mentor
in my life. As a family, we have many fun activities together. We love to
enjoy our meals together whenever possible and enjoy a movie on a
weekend night. Apart from that, we talk about our life over the dinner
table and suggest each other what should be the best course of actions
if there is an issue.

4) What do you find difficult about living with your family ?

5) Who has the absolute power in your family ? (tham khảo bài mô tả
mother bên dưới )

6) What influence do your grandparants have on thier

grandchildren ?
Grandparents in a family are like the pillars of virtue and they play an
important role. They maintain a balance for the family by nurturing the
old traditions and values and teach how to adhere to the roots. With the
increasing number of both working parents, grandparents often look
after the children. They often advise the rest of the family time to time
regarding family matters as they have more experience and thus their
advice often saves us from taking wrong decisions. From this sense,
they act like reliable mentors.
7) Are you values important in your country ?

8) How has the size of the family changed in the last few decades in
your country ?
From my experience, I can say that my grandfather had an extended
family and people at that time used to live together with close relatives.
As far as I have heard, their forefathers also live in a joint family and
the number of family members was sometimes more than ten.
However, the trend of living in an extended family has changed
remarkably in cities where most of the families are nuclear in nature.
The villages in my country still have large families who live together but
the number is shrinking day by day.

9) How have the roles of wives and husbands changed in the last
few decades?

10) What do you think about single-parent families ?

That’s a rather broad question! And inexperienced as I am, I’d probably
give my two cents on the aspects of finance and childcare.
It is generally believed that single parents would struggle more in
raising their kids, compared to other fully-family.
However, I think the number of earners in a family does not determine
its financial status, nor does it dictate how thoroughly the children
would be cared. Instead, it is the parents’ sense of responsibility and
tenacity in nurturing their kids that matter.

11)Who do you think should be responsible for the care of the elderly
, the family or the goverment ?

I believe the family has the major responsibility to look after their elder
family members and support them personally as they did in their youth
age. These senior citizens have sacrificed a lot throughout their lives to
form a family and then to make them happy. The young members
should do everything in their power to accompany their elder members
and provide them with their necessities.

Having said that, the government has some responsibilities as well.

These elder members were once taxpayers and thus they deserve
healthcare, entertainment and other facilities from the state.

I. Describe the person in your family who you most admire .

You should say :
- What relationship you have with that person
- what they have done in their life
- How often you meet that person and explain why you admire him/her so much

The inpring person in my life is my mother. She has been a role model in my life for
me to follow. She’s dilligence , patient and understanding; she’s also got a good
sense of humour and seems to get along with everybody. Fortunately, I’ve inherited
some of these character traits.

I think she brought up me and my siblings really well; she was quite strict but always
fair. Despite the fact that I am the middle child in the family, she never let me down in
comparison to two younger siblings . Besides, She setted a good example by
working hard and having an optimistic outlook on life. I vividly remember that she
worked around the clock , but she always took care for me and my siblings and
backed me up when i chose my job now. That’s why I go the extra mile at the
present to climb career ladder and repay her bringing up .

Now my mother is at her retirement and has more time for the family. But,
unfortunately, I’ve been living far from home, so we have very little quality time with
each other these days. However , i ussually spend idle chit-chat on my mom by face
time every night . I can confide everything to her, things like my study, my work or
even my relationship. She’s always been someone who I can turn to for advice

II. Describe a family member that you get on well with

(tham khảo bài 1 )

Money
1. How important money is to you ?
Yes, definately . Eventhough many people consider that Money can’t buy
happiness, i can use money to buy security and safety for myself and my
loved ones. I can take advantage of money to pay for all the things that make
my life possible, such as shelter, food, healthcare bills, and a good education
to pay for promissing future or reach new heights . In some cases , when my
grandparents get sick , i can save them from sick bed .
2. Do you think you will have lots of money in future ?
yes, definitely. I am working hard right now to get a nice well-paid job. I run
my own bussiness as a founder of clothing brand and influencer at the same
time . I work arround the clock every single day . Therefore , i think in the
future, I will for sure be able to maintain a good lifestyle.

3. Are you good at saving money ?

I have to admit that i’m not . My job is content creator that’s the reason why i
need to buy various things to build up my channel . Sometimes , i consider
that i’m an impulsive buyer . I really known that i should preapare for rainy
days but i just can not help myself.

4. What do people in your country save money for?

I suppose it’s up to different purposes. While the young save money for
travelling or paying tuition fees, the elderly tend to keep money for health
service and their kids. However, young people have more desire than the
seniors so they often spend more than their savings.

5. Why do you think people care too much about money ?

Personally speaking , money make the world go around because money
would bring about power over others and self-independence. in other words ,
the more money you have , the more things you can decide yourself, and the
more influence you have over people being able to do as one wishes is
desirable so that why many people give priority to money
6. Do you think money can buy happiness ?
i find it too hard to answer this question because this is a contreversal topic
about the relationship between money and happy. On the one hand , i think
money can be a key , which can help you open a promissing future by good
education , healthcare , meet demands … On the other hand , Money can not
satisfy the spiritual value such as the tight-knit relationship in family , cozy ,
peace … Therefore, every coin has both side and so is the money .

7. What are some consequences of not saving money ?

Saving money is the foundation of your financial success. So, until
you make a point to consistently save money, your financial future
will be unstable. And the longer you neglect your savings, the more
risky things become such as shortage the source of capital to invest ,
ending up the debt , litmiting ability to help other people …
8. Do you agree with the idea that the more you save , the better life will
be ?
I don’t think so. Although saving money is a wise decision for financial
freedom, I think there more things to do with their money rather than just keep
it in bank. People should save money to avoid living on the breadline, then
they can invest to make a big money and become seriously rich.

9. In your view , how much money is enough ?

Well, it’s hard to answer this question as there is no exact measurement to
say whether money is enough or not. It’s up to the perspectives and goals of
different people. Some people want to earn more money so they can save up
but some just need a certain amount of money to sustain their lives.

10. What problems dose money often cause in your society ?

11. How can young people learn to manage their finacail affairs ?
From my point of view, young people should learn from their parents who
have lots of experience with spending money. They will give the youngsters
sound advice to keep an eye on personal expenses. The young should plan
short terms and long-term financial goals and review them from time to time to
manage personal finance well. They need to make sure their budgets cover
their savings as well in case of any unforeseen emergency.

12. Do you think that women are better at saving money than men ?
Well, it’s hard to say. Men’s biggest risk is their egos. They need to brag
about their possessions and how much money they’ve earned, so they end up
spending more money. Women tend to save money and spend it when they
really need it. However, there are still exceptions when women manage
money worse than men. That’s why there is no strong proof to show men or
women save more money.

I. Describe an effective way to save money

You should say : what the method is and when you started to use it
Interesting topic indeed and I thank you for the chance to let me talk about a
method or way I personally apply to save money. Saving money is one of the
obstinate jobs in the world. to achieve it, I have opened a bank account. I
opened the account around one and 5 years ago when i moved into HCM city
to study . At that time , i need to live independence without parents , hence , i
opened this bank account . Especially, i’m living in techonology-driven world ,
which can allow me easily to connect bank account with smart phone to check
. Beside that , this is aslo a common method in my country, Viet Nam. After
the end of a year, I have found that I have saved a smart amount of money
and also needed not to cut any of my budgets. I had to deposit a certain
amount at the bank for saving purposes. So, it was effective for me to save
money.

ii. Describe a time when you saved up money to buy something special
You should say : What you wanted to buy
Why you wanted it
How you saved your money and explain how you felt when you
finally bought the item .

To purchase a smartphone for my younger sister I had to save money for

about 2 months. It was iphone X , which was white corlor and silver . I bought
it for her in summer , when she visit my home after graduating from high
school . I knew she had a great desire to purchase. Since she is still in her
college, it was really difficult for her to buy such a cutting-edge phone .

After I sold various products on my fanpage such as cosmetics , clothes …

and earned an amount of money , I planned to buy it for her. After I went to
some branded mobile stores , I found that the phone would cost me a bit more
than I would be able to effort. Fortunately , My mom gave me a little bit money
and i could by it in time .
Giving a present to someone we care about is more exciting and satisfying
than purchasing things for ourselves. My sister was so happy when she
recived that gift . I also wanted her to consider this present as a motivation ,
which can help her put more determination and effort to continue following the
university For these reasons, it was very important for me to purchase smart
phone for my sister.

Accommodation
1. Is it better to own your own home or to rent ?
From my point of view , i prefer to buy a house than rent it because in long
term , buying is cheaper than renting . Rent is money that you cannot take
back. When you are renting a home, you are making monthly payments for a
property that you don’t own, which means that you don’t build equity. Beside
that , Buying a home allows you to build wealth over time and Buying a home
lets you lower your living expenses significantly in the long run

2. what options are available to young couples looking for accommodation

in your country ?
Young couples can rent a full house if they wish to, but that would be a costly
option. So young couples can also share a house with the landlord. For
example, if it is a two-story house, then the couple can stay upstairs while the
landlord is staying downstairs.

3. What are some of the pleasures involved in making a home for

ourselves ?
There are so many happy and pleasurable feelings when we buy or rent a
home for ourselves because we get to spend time with ourselves, we get to
learn cooking and manage the entire home by ourselves. I’m so most of the
people they used to depend on their parents but nowadays most of the
youngsters they are moving out of their home along with that they are also
engaging in some part-time jobs which also helps them to manage their
expenses and their annual expenditures at the same time they are also
making lots of investments in mutual funds and stock markets evenly they will
have a bright future by staying independent.

4. What are some reasons why people renovate thier home ?

Personally speaking , there are various reason why people want to redecorate
their home such as Enhance the returns on an investment property
because If your home renovations are done professionally, by quality
home renovators, you may see a greater profit on sale or you may be
able to charge a higher rent on the property.
Other reason like Your home will feels stale . Therefore , If you
refurbish your home like Paint your walls and baseboards and it will
instantly feel fresh and clean. This is a great alternative for anyone on a
budget.

5. why are smaller homes becoming popular these day ?

From my point of view, there are various reason why people more tend to own
tiny house than a big one . First, Minimalism is becoming preverlant in the
recent year .It allows people to live in a more environmentally-friendly way.
They end up with more sustainable belongings. For example, they might
purchase reusable water bottles instead of plastic cups, because the plastic
cups take up unnecessary room and get thrown away after one use. Other
reason such as : Easily maintenance, Lower energy use and Less expensive
are also remarkable.

6. Do you agree that there is a right age for young adutls to stop living with
their parents ?
I completely agree with the point that young adults should stop living with their
parents when it's suitable. But the exact time can be various, depending on
the cultures of their countries in general and families in particular. In Vietnam
for example, parents usually want their children, especially their son, to live
with them as long as possible even when the son gets married. The daughter
may leave when she gets married because she has to live with her husband's
family. So it's hard to tell a specific age when people should start to live
independently. I think everyone can decide it for themself.
7. Do you live in a house or an apartment ?
I’m renting an apartment near the center of HCM city . I’d like to buy my own
apartment one day, but I have to save up for a long time first because buying
a property is extremely expensive these days.

8. which is your favorite room in your house ?

My bedroom is my favorite spot in the house to unwind. It's a cozy, inviting
area that I've created to serve as my safe zone. the tranquility and privacy in
my bedroom provides are what I value most about it. I can close the door and
shut out the outside world, which enables me to unwind and relax completely.
I have a cozy reading chair and a little bookcase in the room because I enjoy
reading. I also like to listen to music, so I've set upa speaker so I can listen to
my favorite playlists.

9 . What is the best thing about your home ? ( tham khảo câu 8 )
9. Would you prefer to live with your family or on your own ? Why ?
Well, i would rather choose live with my family than live a lone because various
reason . One of these things is the feeling cozy, which i find it too difficult to have if i
lived alone . My family ussually have diner together to confide all of happiness and
sadness in my beloved family’s member , particularly with my mom. I share
absolutely everything with her and she is the best mentor in my life. As a family, we
have many fun activities together. We love to enjoy our meals together whenever
possible and enjoy a movie on a weekend night. Apart from that, we talk about our
life over the dinner table and suggest each other what should be the best course of
actions if there is an issue.

10. How well do you know your next door neighbors ?

I would say I know most of my neighbours, who live next door.
. We live in an apartment , where we can easily meet each other every single day in
the elevator . Beside that , They are so kind-hearted and hospitable since we
ussually support interaction .

11. If you could live anywhere, where would you live ?

I would say that is Italy, where there are so many things to see. i can imagine i will
spend a whole day at the Vatican, and go to the museums and chapels. One of the
main reasons I really want to live in Italy is the food. The ice-cream is so delicious.

beside that , The country has so many historic buildings, too! They offer visitors a
lesson in architecture and engineering. I cannot find the right words to describe its
beauty. It is like a paradise
I. Describe an interesting house or apartment that you have visited
You should say : - Where the house or aparment was
- Who lived there
- What it looked like on the outside and or inside , explain why you found this
house or apartment interesting

Well, I think today I’m going to talk about my friend’s villa that I had a chance to visit
last week. It is located in a very luxurious residential area in Phu My Hung ward,
District 7, HCMC , which is nearby my arpartment . I guess, the value of that house
must be around a million US dollars.

Talking about what it looked like, I remember that when looking at the exteriorof the
house, it resembled a mansion with European style of architecture that we may see
in movies. Walking through the door, I was blown away by the way the owner
decorated the house. I felt like I was walking in some kind of palacein bedtime
stories. And, the unique thing is that many items in that house were extremely rare
and valuable.

However, the best thing about this house is that it is very spacious and all the rooms
were very well-arranged to make it more convenient for the users. Anyway, I think
that place would be quite creepy when the sun goes down because it made me think
of some horror movie.

And finally, even though it was one of the greatest house that I’ve ever seen, I still
don’t want to live in it. To be honest, I’m very lazy so I don’t think that I can stand
sweeping and mopping that house everyday. Besides, I’m afraid of ghosts so living
in such a scary place like that doesn’t seem to be a good idea.

II. Describe a historical building in your area

You should say :- What its name is
-Wherre it is located and when it was built
-What it looks like on the outside or inside
-What it is used for and explain why this building is sinificant
I’ve been here , in in Ho Chi Minh City for 8 years . There’re several buildings that
hold significant meaning in this big city . Among these, the one which I enjoy visiting
the most is Duc Ba Cathedral.

It’s located in District 1 – right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The church is
surrounded by other important structures such as Reunification Palace on the right,
HCM Post Office on the left and at the back Diamond Plaza - a great place for
shopping. To get there is quite easy. It’s a 5-minute-walk from here.

Even though there’re plenty of churches around here, this one is quite unique for it
was built by French colonizers before they left Vietnam.

The architecture of Notre Dame is not only impressive but also unique. It’s quite
large. It was built out of bricks and concretes. Its distinctive shape makes it look like
a whole lot of mushroom to me. The church comprises of a rectangular building with
2 towers at the sides of the entrance, along with the statue of Mother Maria in front.
Because the building is quite old, certain parts of it have been reconstructed time
and again.

There’re several activities take place at this place. For example, Christians go there
to say their prayers, tourists pay a visit to this must-visit structure, husband-and-wife-
to-be pose for their wedding photos while young people just sit around for a chit-chat
and take in the view.

I guess I love this building not only because of its distinct look but also due to the
memories I have had there with my friends and loved ones.
Traffic
1. what is the most popular means of transportation in your hometown ?
Without doubt I would say motorbikes . Almost everone travels by motobike in
my country . The reason why motobike is popular in my opinion due to their
reasonable price and convenience , They also extremely vary in terms of
size , colour and quality , thus a wide variety of choices is available for
everone .

2. Do you prefer public transport or private transport ?

I think I’d prefer public transport. It’s much more inexpensive and because it
can contain a large number of people, it helps ease the intensity of traffic jams
during peak hours and reduce the greenhouse gas emissions caused by
vehicles. Private transportation is more costly in terms of fees, taxes and
gasoline.

3. How offen do you take buses?

I take buses almost every day eventhough my house is not so far away from
my university, i find it convenient to commute . In addition, the air is heavily
polluted by exhaust fumes and traffic jams always take place, especially
during peak hours. Thus, I’d prefer to take the bus, to save time, save
gasoline and causing less pollution.

4. Can you compare the advantages of planes and trains ?

Planes and trains regularly depart and arrive on time. Plus, there are many
convenient facilities catering particularly to certain groups of passengers.
However, traveling by plane is clearly time-saving and enjoyable in terms of
onboard services like meals or comfortable seats, while traveling by train
offers you a chance to see the world outside, admire the views from their
seats. It’s totally a great experience for most train-travelers.
5. How much time do you spend travelling on a normal day ?

I have to commute from my home to my university on a daily basis. It normally

takes me 20 minutes to travel back and forth.

6. Would you ride bikes to work in the future ?

Definitely not. Riding a bike means you’re exposing yourself to the
unpredictable weather and to air pollution. What is worse, I’m afraid the main
streets or the highway are too dangerous for cyclists, as cars, motorbikes and
buses will travel at a very high speed. Thus I’d rather ride a motorbike or take
the bus instead.

7. What should be done to minimize road acccident ?

8. How should goverments encourage more people to take public
transportation ?
Personally , What the goverment should do is decreasing the fares of the
public transports. For instance, if a journey of 30 kilometres use to cost $20,
government can reduce this fares in form of promos and discounts. This will
draw peoples attentions to the public transports.

Special considerations should be given to the aged, children, the disabled and

pregnant women. People in this category should have decrease in their fares.
Government should hire trained personnel to cater for this group of people
specially.
9. Do you think that transport problems are worse in urban or rural areas ?
10. How has transportation and trafic affected the environment ?
The environmental effects of transport are significant because transport is a
major user of energy, and burns most of the world's petroleum. This creates
air pollution, including nitrous oxides and particulates, and is a significant
contributor to global warming through emission of carbon dioxide.
Within the transport sector, road transport is the largest contributor to global
warming.
11. Do you agree that goverments should do more to encourage greener
methods of transportation ?
Yes, I totally agree with this solution . the government should put more of
transportation for public to use and the usage of energy friendly gases. By
using of the energy friendly cars, the cities would develop into the pollution-
free areas. An increase of the frequency of public transports would encourage
citizens to use more of these systems. This is a necessary way to save our
plannet right now
12. How will transportation be different the next 20 years ?
I. Describe the traffic jam in your country
You should say : - How it happens
- What is the situation
- What problems people face due to this and what could be done to control this
traffic jam

I 'm living in Ho Chi Minh city which accommodates a large number of

population. Due to this huge population and the increased number of public
and private cars, the city often faces bad traffics. As a result, the traffic jam
often occurs and people have to suffer. Another reason for the traffic jam is
the unauthorised parking of cars in the street.
Therefore The traffic jam in our city is one of the terrible things the city
dwellers have to face. People get stuck on the roads and they have no idea
when they would be able to reach their destination. Because of this jam,
people often miss important schedules, students can’t reach school in time
and the outcome is devastating. Because of the jam in the street people have
to schedule accordingly and the total time killed in the street is simply a waste
of time.
There are many steps which should be taken to reduce the jam in the street.
First of all the people who are driving in the street should very strictly follow
the traffic rules. The traffic control authority should more strictly apply the
rules. The rule should be imposed on purchasing cars and the price of the fuel
could be increased as well. The public transportation system should be
improved so that people can travel in public cars.

II. Describe a road accident you witnessed

You should say : - where the acccident occured
- What happened exactly
- Where you were and what you were doing and explain how it affected you
Accidents are unwanted, and it sometimes causes severe damage to people
who suffer from it. There was one such severe accident I witnessed a few
months back while I was travelling by grab from my university to home. The
accident occurred when a bike collided with a car, and the bike rider died
instantly. I was completely horrified by it.
It was approximately 5 p.m., and I was on my way home from my university
as though it were any other studying day. There were traffic jams on
practically every road. I suddenly heard a number of people screaming across
the road as I went on the flyover. Slowly, I made my way forward and noticed
a huge crowd. I parked my car on the corner of the road out of curiosity to see
why there were so many people gathered and screaming. I crossed the road
and approached a man who was already there and asked why there were so
many people there. He informed me that an accident occurred only 5 minutes
ago. An SUV car driver was driving aggressively and, when he lost control of
his speed, collided with a bike rider, who died on the spot. The car driver also
attempted to flee the scene, but witnesses gathered and summoned the
police and ambulance.
I was astonished when I learnt about the accident, and I’ll never forget seeing
the motorbike rider’s corpse drenched in blood. I still can’t get that out of my
head.
Advertising
1. Do you ẹnoy watching advertisements on TV or the internet ?
I would say both of them . Advertisements on technology products are
more striking because instead of listing out some facts when you see
real characters playing out, they tend to strike a better chord. Beside
that , it allows me save more time because thank to advertisings , i
have not to commute to store to shop .
2. Do advertisements influence your choice of product ?
Surely, it does. Advertisements have come about to affect my choices
in way like never before. With so many companies launching products
and all of them being so similar, it is often the advertisement that helps
in deciding the product to buy. But, when it comes to choosing between
a well known or trusted company and the newly established,
irrespective of the ad I prefer the trusted one.

3. Do you think advertisements are important ?

Definitely, yes. Advertisements bring out the idea of the new products
and their features in a nut shell. They prove to be beneficial for both the
customers and the company. But, with advertisement market rising up,
I think companies have learnt the art of deceiving the customers as
well. You can easily find products being depicted as something else in
the advertisements. Also, with so many ads coming in, it becomes
quite difficult and overwhelming for the customer to choose the
product. Having said that, I think advertisements are vital but then there
should be more truth to them than flashy statements.
4. What are various places where we can see advertisements ?
Almost everywhere, I would say. They are there on television, internet,
newspapers, radios and then we can see those big banners and
hoardings all over. We find them in different pallets and these days,
one can get messages on phone about the various products and offers
from companies.

5. Why do you think there are so many advertisements now ?

With the coming of Internet and globalization, the world has become a
more connected place. We have come out of our houses and stepped
onto a world of possibilities. Advertisements have grown in recent
times because firstly, people have less time. So, companies need to
make the impact of a product on the customer as fast as possible.
Also, with coming of globalization there is a lot of competition amongst
companies, so they turn towards ads to grab the customer’s attention.

6. What sorts of advertisements leave the deepest impression on

people ?
i would say that the advertisement videos with moral of behind it .
Instead of selling a product, the advertisements that share a story
which can connect to the individual, I think these are the kinds of ads
that have deeper impact on people. Because somehow people can
relate to the scenario and hence feel more connected to the product.

7. What is the purpose of advertising ?

Advertisements video or image are there to tell the customer about the
product, also, to woo them to buy the product. The main idea behind
companies making advertisements is to ensure that people surely
know about their product.

8. Is advertising really necessary in morden society ?

It could be seen to be necessary in terms of the fact that , there is so
much choice that we need someone to guide us in what to buy or to
give us some extra information about products. Without this, it would
be difficult to know where to start. However, I think it may do more
harm than good because advertising encourages people to buy things
they possibly do not need. We live in a consumer society and many
people are in debt because we are encouraged to buy and buy, and I’m
sure advertising plays a major role in this. Without advertising we could
just do our own research and decide what we really need. So no, I
would not say that advertising is necessary in modern society.

9. What do you think would make an advertisement effective ?

There are a number of facts that makes an advertisement
effective. To begin with, the advertisement on a particular product
has to be absolutely relevant and specific on its message while
also describing at the same time what exactly set the product
apart from others in terms of its benefits. Besides, for an
advertisement to be effective, the language or the wording has to
be unique to the target audience, based on their age, gender,
race, culture, religion and geographic location. Finally, the
advertisement should include a clear “call for action” such as
asking to buy the product or contact.
10. Do advertisements give correct information , or do they
encourage people to buy things they may not need ?
I think some do and some don’t, but it’s difficult to know which are
giving us the correct information. For example, the skin whitening
products – I do not believe that these work but we see them
everywhere in Asian countries, and we are encouraged to buy them
even though they are not actually necessary. The adverts, though, tell
us they are necessary as they will improve our lives and we will
become more accepted and successful. This then, is an example of
advertising encouraging people to buy something they do not need. I
do think there are checks in most countries these days to make sure
that adverts are giving the correct information and not lying to people,
but I think it is still easy for advertisers to exaggerate or to do this
without breaking the regulations.
11. How have advertisements affected consumer’s shopping
habbits ?
Advertisements create an impact on the consumers as you present
your products and services. When they come across your marketing
materials, it stirs them up depending on the message or format you
use. For example , adertisement videos can have a significant
influence on your mood . Ads that incorporate humor or light-hearted
presentation make the consumers feel positive about a brand .
Therefore , they may capture more value customers thank to that that
ads .

12. How have advertisements changed since you were a child?

Advertisements have changed significantly over the years since I was a
child. For a starter, when I was a child, if I remember correctly, there
were only radio, TV and print media to show us the advertisements, but
today there are computers, smartphones, Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram also on which advertisements are being displayed
continuously. We can also see billboards, neon signs, and other vibrant
and visually captivating printed designs, that are placed at strategic
locations with high volumes of human traffic, which were not seen
when I was a child.

I. Describe an interesting advertisement that you have seen

You should say : - What advert is was
- When and where you first saw it
- What it was about and explain why you think it was an
interesting advertisement .
(tham khảo bài II )
II. Describe an advertisement that persuaded you to buy a
product
You should say : - What advert is was
- When and where you first saw it
- What was special about that advert and explain how that
advertisement attracted you to buy the product
About a couple of months ago I saw an advertisement on the internet for a special
pair of running shoes, which came from Bitish Hunter . This is a local brand in Viet
Nam . The ad was shown during a commercial break in a series I was watching
online. The picture caught my attention first, because the shoes looked very different
from conventional running shoes.

They were made from a special 'breathable' material and had a synthetic sole
grafted onto the body so that they fitted like a glove on your foot. But the bottom was
quite similar to a normal running shoe so that it gripped well and protected your feet.
Beside that , the moral of behind that video make my heart warm . Advert
commercial highlight the tight-kit family relationship when Tet hohiday was coming .
the main character was aboard student and he didn’t return his homeland because
the geographical distance is too far. However, Thank to Bitsh shoses, he could feel
like coming back home .

So, I ordered a pair in my size, and they arrived a couple of days later. I've tried them
out a couple of times so far, and they seem good. They cost me just a little bit more
than normal running shoes, but I think they're worth the extra money. The running
experience is quite different from normal, and I prefer it. That's an example of one
such advertisement that persuaded me to buy a product.
Consumerism
1. Do you consider yourself a shopaholic?
No, i’m not . I considered shopping as a hobby. I loved the thrill of finding a
good deal and the excitement that came when buying something new.
However , i just buy that item when i really need it to advoid innecessary
things . I prefer to save money for rainy day than use spend thrift on
shopping .
2. Which is the most popular place for shopping in your hometown ?
I was born in a small town, which is located in the middle region of Viet Nam ,
Quang Tri . So there are only a few branded showrooms of my city, but most
of the people from my town prefer to shop from the local market and the
famous lace for shopping is mina bazaar. Different types of shops like clothes,
jewellery, mobile, makeup and many other shops are there

3. Who does most of the shopping in your household ?

My mom generally shops for the entire family. She goes to the grocery store
twice or thrice a week to get the kitchen supplies. She also purchases
toiletries for all of us, according to our individual choices of soaps, perfumes
and shampoos etc. However, we accompany her for buying our clothes and
accessories.
4. Is shopping a popular activity in your country ?
Yes, it's very popular. Saturday is the busiest shopping day, and lots of people
treat shopping as a kind of leisure activity, rather than something practical.

5. What types of shops do teenagers like the best in your country ?

That’s a really hard question to answer because there are so many different
shops. But I guess the new shopping malls are where most young people go
and they are more popular nowadays than the old markets. That’s probably
because there are more facilities there and they’re just cooler and nicer
places to be – outside can be really hot in my country, especially during
daytime.
6. What do you think about online shopping ?
From my point of view , Shopping online is more convenient than traditional
shopping because instead of travelling to a brick and mortar store, customers
can simply browse different shopping sites and purchase items from the
comfort of their own homes or workplace.
Beside that , This helps them save time and energy which could be spent on
other helpful activities such as reading or exercising.

7. Do you think people own more things than they really need these days?
Absolutely yes! Generally speaking, I think people own far more things than
they really need. I think is largely due to the consumerist culture we live in
this day and age. We are constantly being told by advertising that our lives
can be improved through buying more things, whether it’s designer clothing,
the latest gadgets, or even expensive cars. None of this is really necessary
but our society over values materialism to the point where we don’t realise
how absurd all of this spending is. But if you stop to think about it then you’ll
see that the emphasis people put on owning things really is insane.

8. What disadvantages do you think there may be to an increase in

consumerism ?
Personally , The increase of consumerism can lead to Global inequality . The
huge rise in resource consumption in wealthier countries has led to an ever
widening gap between the rich and the poor. As the age old saying goes, “the
rich get richer and the poor get poorer.” Beside that , Research shows a close
link between the rise of the modern culture of consumerism and the worrying
rates of obesity we are seeing around the world. However, this should come
as no surprise, since consumerism implies exactly that – using as much as
we can, rather than as much as we need.

9. How does social status affect buying behaviours?

10. Modern society is often called “Materialistic ”. Why do you think this is
We are living in a time when our ambitions are higher than the sky and we
have so many options to choose from. The Industrial Revolution and
technological advancement have created a society where we have easy
access to abundant of things we need and want. We take pride in our material
possessions than our inner values and moralities. Some believe that, with
terribly high competition, it is hard to achieve success and own a portion of the
resources and money that billions of people are fighting hard to gain. So we
feel somewhat special to achieve material gains, and others envy us for our
luxurious cars, large houses and a hefty bank balance.

Therefore , i think that the reason why many people consider that we are
living in society , which values someone’s quality, kindness and morality more
than their possessions.

11. In what ways do you think advertising effects people’s behaviours ?

We live in an era where the visible product is the product that sells. A company can
adopt various methods to inform consumers about the existence of the product, and
some of the methods are using celebrity endorsement , Sales promotion … therefore
, advertising can grab the attention of the consumer and it will stick in the mind of the
consumer, and the consumer will look out for the product while making the purchase
decision shortly or may make an instant purchase decision.

12. How do you think the internet will effect buying petterns in the future ?
I believe a large proportion of the consumers will use the Internet and e-commerce
platforms to buy products of their choice in the future. With the rapid popularity of
websites, people would not like to visit a shop to get a product. The convenient
means of payments, including credit cards and virtual money, would be more widely
used and online merchants would be ready to sell everything online. Companies will
get even better at using data to predict consumer needs and make more accurate
recommendations. Therefore , it is often predicted that mobile Internet shopping will
dominate the overall shopping trend and online shopping would become more
ubiquitous and more simplified in the future.

I. Describe an item you bought recently .

You should say : - What is was and where you bought it
- How much it cost you
- Why you bought it
- How you use it and explain how you felt

Shopping is a very popular hobby among girls. I personally love shopping too. I
visited the mall on the weekend looking for a handbag. I fell in love with Lady Dior
handbag and decided to buy them . I bought it for my birthday and i have to say that
it own cost a fortune because of the reputation of designer label . However, every
single year , i always rewarded for myself one of this brand because of my dilligence
in working . The handbag went great along with the pink dress that I had specially
bought for the occasion. The dress had a similar colour with this bag so they looked
great together.

The handbag lift me up and build a confidence in me. I personally love them. They
are trendy and elegant. I mixed all of this outfit with the high heel and this
combination was such amazing that i recieved a lot of compliments from my friends .

I was super excited to show them to my mom. She too liked them and appreciated
my choice. She examined the quality and was very satisfied. I look forward to
shopping from the same store again. I’m really happy about my purchase.
II. Describe your favorite shop
You should say : - Where it is and what are its customers
-What items it sells
-What sort of people are it customers
-How often you visit the place and explain why you like the shop so much

Shopping is not my cup of tea and i more tend to shop on interner than visit store.
However , i ussually commute to Viettien shop , which is a well-known local
Vietnamese brand name and sale mainly in men’s garments, including shirts,
trousers, and suits; they even have a section for accessories like wallets, ties, belts. I
often came here to buy some gifts for my dad to give him supprising on various
special days in year.

I like Viettien for a couple of reasons. Firstly, their costume design and quality are
highly selective and tasteful simply because most of the clothes are designed by
well-trained designers, and they provide cutting-edge fashion and elegant designs in
the first place. Personally, I really appreciate the originality and freshness of the
design. Besides, I also think that Viettien is a relaxing place to hang around. The
whole decor and lighting are pretty sensational. The layout of the shop is customer-
oriented; you can easily find what you are looking for. The shopping atmosphere is
pretty soothing. Even the background music boosts my shopping appetite. More
importantly, the services are superb. The shop assistants at Viettien shops are
always hospitable. Hence , those are the reasons why I prefer Viettien outlets.
Health and Life Style
1. Are all your days the same ?
Not really. For me, a day-off is quite different from a busy working day from
many different perspectives. Apart from that different circumstances and
events make the days different from each other. While Sunday is the day to
spend time with my family members, meet my friends and play with them in
the evening, I have a really tight schedule on a weekday.
2. How do you usually begin your day ?
I’m not a night owl , hence , I always try my best to get up as early as
possible. To be an early bird can help me have more time to do everything I
like. I start my day with a 45-minute hit the gym . Then I commute to university
at 8 am and come back home at 5 pm. I often end my day at 12 pm by putting
my mind at ease. However, this schedule is not fixed. It depends on the
amount of the duties I have.
3. What part of your day do you like the best ?
That’s definitely when I come home from work and gather around the dinner
table with my family. To me, it’s a great time to have a chit-chat with family,
surf the Internet, listen to music, or watch a favorite movie. Seeing them after
a long hard-working day can help me feel recharged, so I look forward to this
time of the day the most.
4. How important is it for you to relax at the weekend ?
It is absolutely important to let my hair down during the weekends as it helps
us to recuperate from the fatigue of our works during the week and get ready
to face the challenges of the next week. Besides, it also helps us enjoy some
quality times with our family and friends which are very crucial to maintain a
work-life balance.
5. Is exercise part of your daily routine ?
Yes, Physical activity is a key part of preventing some diseases and boost
immune system . Beside that , Hitting the gym regularly can help me keep in
good shape and maintain healthy lifestyle .
6. What would you like to change in your daily life ?
I would like to get up earlier in the morning than I do now. Next, I would like to
take up regular exercises in a gymnasium. Apart from that, I would like to
leave university early to walk in the park for an hour. Apart from that, my
current daily routine is all good . It allows me to let my hair down after a long
day as well as keep in good shape .

7. Do you think people pay enough attention to their health these days?
No, I don’t think so. Nowadays, most people are leading a sedentary lifestyle
where they don’t have enough time to look after themselves. They don’t pay
attention to their diet and hardly workout. But there are a few self-conscious
people who are aware of their health and prefer eating a healthy diet and
doing some physical activities in their life to ensure they’re healthy.

8. Why do you think some people continue bad habits although they know
it’s harmful to their health ?
Although some people know that bad habits are damaging their health, they
continue to follow them. This is because they have attached themselves to
bad habits. As the saying goes ‘bad habits die hard’ it becomes difficult for
the people to stop doing things that they’ve inculcated in their daily routine.

9. Do you think the goverment is responsible for public health ?

yes, i think the authoritied should play a part role for public health beacause A
healthy nation is a wealthy nation. Therefore, The government can improve
the health care facilities of a nation to take adequate measures to ensure
decent health care infrastructure. However , health is the ultimate
responsibility of the individual. Factors like hereditary conditions and inactive
lifestyle of humans do contribute largely.

10. In what ways does your mental health affect your work productive ?
Mental health at work consists of psychological, emotional and social
wellbeing in the shared work environment. These factors directly affect job
performance and satisfaction. For example, psychological factors may include
stress levels and job insecurity. Emotional factors may include employee
morale, and engagement. Therefore, the more mental health thay get ,the
less motivate they gain to contribute working

11.How should employers promote a healthy lifestyle at the workplace ?

I. Describe an activity you do for your health

You should say: -What the activity is

-When you do it

-How often you do it

-And explain why it is a good way to look after your health.

i would like to share with you something that I am keen on doing in my leisure time
to stay healthy, which is jogging.

I took up this habit about 2 years ago. At that time, I was up to my ears withstudy to
prepare for my graduation examination so I was a little bit stressed out. Then I
thought that I needed to do something energetic to release some stress, so I decided
to have a crack at jogging.
At first, doing this was quite challenging for me because I led a sedentary lifestyle. I
just sat in front of my computer every day to complete my assignments. But after a
few days of suffering from muscle aches, I got used to jogging and kept doing it in
the evenings.

Well, I have to say that this sport has helped me a lot in strengthening my physical
health as well as my mental health. Thanks to jogging, I was able to lose my fat belly
and get lean. Now, to be honest, I’m quite satisfied with my youthful appearance and
trying to maintain it. Also, jogging allows me to unwind and enjoy fresh air, and
whenever I go jogging I feel like my mind is being refreshed.

In the future, I am going to keep doing this to stay healthy and maybe I will try some
other sports too. That’s all!

II. Describe a time when you were ill

You should say :
-when this was and what your symptoms were

-how long the illness lasted and say how it affected your life at the time.

It’s always been an unpleasant experience when getting sick, at least for me
personally. Then it’d be even more unpleasant if you got sick right before an
important exam, and it happened to me once.

It happened last year when I was about to take a beauty pagent , that I caught
severe flu. Even though flu is not a really serious disease and can go away on its
own, it’s still quite troublesome when it occurs. I got some symptoms , which were
so mild and unnoticeable that I didn’t pay much attention and bother to take any
medicine. On the first day, I just felt my throat a bit sore, like something was blocking
it. There was nothing more serious than that for the next day. Then the night before
the final round, at midnight, I got a fever. That was the last thing I expected to
happen right before such a big day. I took an aspirin to reduce the fever and tried to
get back to sleep in the hope that everything would be alright in the morning. But it
was not.

When I woke up in the morning, my head was pounding. What was worse was that
my throat was so painful that I couldn’t say a word. That was when I realised I
couldn’t make it to the performance and had no choice but to stay home.

After that incident, I became more attentive to health problems and would take
immediate action when I sense anything wrong happens, minor or not.

Science
1. Is your work/major related to science ?

Not really . To be honest, I never particularly liked studying science at school. Some
things about biology interest me, such as genetics and the process of evolution, but I
soon feel out of my depth when reading about them in detail. Physics and chemistry
are even worse. I’m pretty clueless when it comes to these subjects and try as I
might, I can never seem to even feign an interest in them.

2. Do you like watching TV programs about science ?

No, not really. As I briefly mentioned before, anything science related is not my cup

of tea. The one exception is the Discovery channel or nature or wildlife

documentaries somehow arouse my interest. Because the content is very

accessible, comprehensive and not heavily scientific.

3. What do you find the most interesting about science ?

From my point of view, the study of the planet is more interesting as from miles away
we can see the planet, and with the cryogenic engine we are trying to reach, and it is
more interesting.

4. What is the most difficult part of studying science ?

Well, I think there’s no specific part that stands out as being more difficult than the
rest. However, most people would find chemicals symbols/formulas and equations
incredibly confusing and frustrations to learn. It’s also challenging to comprehend
numerous complex theories in Physics

5. How has the science that you have studied hepled you ?

To be honest with you, I don’t think it has helped me that much. Although I cannot

deny the fact that it does allow me to quickly figure out some basic calculations on a

daily basis. In addition, it has provided me a strong foundation of knowledge about

the surrounding environment and our beautiful Universe.

6. Do you think it’s improtant for all people to study science ?

Yes , i do since science plays an essential role in our life. It has laid the foundation
for almost all inventions and discoveries of humankind. However, I believe there is
no need to force people to study it unless they are genuinely interested in.

7. What are some benifits of space science ?

More space exploration promises to bring new and serendipitous benefits to a variety
of areas, such as power generation and energy storage, recycling and waste
management, advanced robotics, health and medicine, transportation, computing,
and engineering. It’s hard to predict exactly what new technology may arise in the
future . However our society witnessed the tremendous benifits of space science ,
which brings positive change to our life.

8. What do you think fasciantes humans about outer space?

By and large, I would say that people are fascinated by the idea of the unknown and
the idea of exploring isolated areas. Maybe scientists have more important interests
such as looking for new materials, or even search the likehood of human beings
living in another planet.

9. Do people in your country learn about space at school ?

i am pretty sure i can recall one or two lessons about the solar system and stars .
However , it’s defiitely not on top of priority list in our education system , which to be
honest with you , i find a huge shame . Franky speaking, the education system in VN
doesn’t seen to have room for more stimulating topics to arouse our interests in the
universe and what surround us . As a consequence , our knowledge about space is
very limit.

10. Does information about the stars and planets help children to develop
imagination?

Yes, by all mean . Undoubtadly yes, By filling children’s brain with knowlegde on the
universe, it will absolutely cultivate their curiousity and foster their imagination . Not
only this, It may educate them on how important it is to be resourceful . Therefore, i
truly believe that if the education could raise their awareness about the solar
system , It would have a very banificial impact on shrinking the carbot footprint in the
future years to come

11. Are films about planets and the solar system popular in your country ?

No, not at all. From my observation, there is more of the thirst for horror and
action moviesrather than those that are in the sci-fi genre. I think the idea of
life in space is very far-fetched and people are very much skeptical about
these ideas in my country. Having said that, I myself have a genuine interest
in movies related to the solar system and some of my favorite have to be
Interstellar and the Martian.

12. How do you think people’s atitudes towards space exploration have
changed since the first Moon landing ?

I think there’s possibly less interest now. since it’s no longer new and exciting Back
in the 1960s. when the Moon landing took place, everybody was very impressed.

It was an incredible moment, and it made the human race come together and see
that we can acheive something that’s ‘out of this world’. But I think we’ve reached the
point now where the next step is going to be too risky and too difficult. And well – as
far as I’m concerned, it’s a waste of money.

i . Describe a science subject that you studied and liked

What is it?

– Why did you choose it?

– How can you use it in life?

At the beginning of high school, I started to learn Physics. And I was immediately
attracted to such a great subject. Over the previous years, I had prepared a lot for
Mathematics, but then I realized it was only about theories. I couldn’t see any
realistic applications in math, yet things turned out to bemuch more practical when it
came to Physics. I started to know how the engines were run, how things happened.
I could explain some common phenomenon, such as why there are storms and why
we always see lightning before we hear the thunder’s sound. Also, I understood how,
in a soccer match, the ball could travel in a curve before it passed the goal line.

It was all about Physics for me. It has helped me to explain those things and build
my logical thinking. It helps me a lot, not only with the school’s curriculum, but also
with problems I face in my life. For example, when I am in the troublesome situation,
I will consider all of the factors that might affect the outcome of my decision. With the
logical thinking from Physics, I could see things from different perspectives and care
about every variable. Just like the way I solve Physics problems. So, they are some
basic applications of Physics that I can think of.

Languages
1. What are the advantages of learning mutiple languages ?
Learning multiple languages has several advantages. It improves brain functions and
makes it easier to learn and understand new things. It isn’t only about increasing
brain mass; it enhances memory as well. It is all about learning how to communicate
and connect with others. Though, learning a language can be daunting at times, it’s
an important way to connect with people across geographical boundaries.

2. Which language is likely to become dominant in the future ?

i would to say that is English because it is a motivation to force myself go the extra
miles to study ever single day . I find it important role of English around the world.
Many international businesses conduct meetings in English, universities teach
courses in English and, around the world, tourists and travellers use English as a
common language.

3. Why are some people better at studying languages then other ?

Some people are seemingly better at studying and learning languages than others
because they may find it easier to understand. These people have good memory
power, and they’re keen and persistent in learning a new language.

4. Do you think that all chldren should learn foreign languages at school?
yes, children should be taught foreign languages in school from an early age.
Foreign languages help improve children’s ability to communicate, thereby improving
their fluency and confidence in speaking. It will help them gain knowledge about
foreign countries and increase their interests in their cultures.
5. What kind of quality should a language teacher have ?
Not only a language teacher in particular but educators in other areas should have
certain skills and knowledge to successfully inspire and instruct their students. First
and foremost, of course, deep knowledge and great education matter. It’s often said
that “a teacher is only as good as his knowledge is”. People may not need academic
degrees or certificates in other jobs or industries, but in education and training, they
are solid proof to verify your professional qualifications. Furthermore, communication
skill also plays an essential role. If one is an articulate and persuasive speaker, he
will be able to convey his lectures with better results. Last but not least, a good
sense of humour may be of great help to grab students’ attention and interest.
6. Why do people learn more than one language?

People learn more than one language because we live in a multilingual world, where
connections are very important. And with the world becoming increasingly
globalized, knowing a second language can always give you an edge over others. It
can increase your career prospects and provide an insight into other cultures.
Overall, being bilingual can bring you several advantages.
I. Describe a language other than English that you would like to
learn
-what the language is , where it is spoken and what you think would be difficult

what would be easy about learning the language and explain why you would like to
learn it

I will now tell you about my favourite language besides English - it’s Korean for sure.

To me, it’s an interesting language with a lot of culture behind it. Also, Vietnam has a
very close relationship with Korea, so I believe it will really help my future.

I doubt it would be really challenging for me to learn Korean because it is not a Latin
language, which is totally different from my mother tongue. Korean uses its own
characters in its writing, so I would have to get familiar with its own alphabetical
system. There are a lot of hard tones and stresses, too so it would be time-
consuming to master Korean, but I think I will get a grasp of it gradually by following
various lessons on Youtube. As well as this, I will enroll on a Korean course at a
reliable centre. I will also get a good textbook that summarizes all essential
vocabulary and grammar. I think Korean vocabulary would be much easier for me to
acquire than their grammar because I have heard that learning grammar is extremely
frustrating. The reason why I really want to be fluent in Korean one day is because I
am so in love with its adorable sounds. I myself actually can pick up some common
phrases through a lot of Korean dramas and K-pop songs.

I bet it would be easy to find a language partner or join a language exchange club to
practice Korean because the number of Korean tourists visiting Vietnam has been on
the rise and there are many Korean people staying in Hanoi now.

You know, knowing Korean in combination with my English skills can give me a
competitive advantage in the not too distance future and it undoubtedly would make
my future holiday in Korea more enjoyable. On top of that, I would be such a great
feeling to be able to watch Korean movies without Vietnamese subtitles.

ll in all, Korean is definitely a handy language worth knowing!

II. Describe the first time you used a foreign language to

communicate
what the situation was : – where you were
– who you communicated with
– and explain why you used a foreign language to communicate on this
occasion.
I have been learning English for a year, however , I haven’t had many chances to
practice speaking English with native speakers. To the best of my recollection, the
first time I used it was on Christmas Eve last years .

At that time, I was hanging out with my friends. Suddenly, a foreigner came up to me
and asked for directions to a supermarket. Honestly, he spoke too quickly for me to
catch everything. But after he repeated his words, I finally understood and showed
him the way to the nearest supermarket. I used body language a lot to explain the
directions to him, since I didn’t speak English well then. After that, he said “Thank
you” to me and headed for the supermarket.

I realize that English plays an important role in our life, despite the fact that we don’t
live in English-speaking countries. It is spoken globally and it’s becoming the
dominant language. Therefore, I have been trying to practice speaking English daily
so that I can have a good command of this language, and I can talk confidently with
foreigners, whatever the topic of conversation.

Sports
1. Do you enjoy playing sports ?
Well, I think I’m a big fan of sports. Although I’m not good at it, but my favorite one is
swimming. You know I can often meet new people and make friends when I do
sports. And as I think that, you know, practicing a sport regularly does wonder for my
health. It keeps me in shape, it helps to relieve my back and neck pains. And last but
not least, it refreshes my mind after a long day of hard work.

2. Do you like to watch sports on TV ?

Yes I’m definitely a sports enthusiast so I watch a lot of them. As a matter of fact, my
sole purpose of paying for cable is to watch sports channels.
3. Who is your favorite sport star ?
I’m sports personality , therefore , i die-hard fan of Messi , who is a supper star of
Soccer . Messi is pure genius and makes those around him better , His ability to
make people fall in love with football . Eventhough someone who doesn’t even know
football fall in love with the game, be it a 5-year-old in England, or a 65-year-old in
some ancient part of the world. When Messi steps on the football field, he doesn’t do
so to subdue his opponents, he does so to enchant the world. And that is something
not many footballers can claim to do.

4. What is the most popular sport in your country ?

Soccer of course! As soccer is the sport of the world, that would be number one.
People go wild when our team wins a game- they even drive around waving flags,
blocking off the streets! Thank to soccer, Sport personality can not only show the
sportmanship but also indecate the patriotism .

5. What sports do children prefer ?

I guess that kids are particularly keen on engaging in group activities like soccer, or
basketball. I suppose the explanation is that these games can be played in a team of
ten to twelve people, not only giving children an opportunity to make friends but also
bringing them great pleasure.

6. Do you think children should be encouraged do more sport ?

yes i do . because if children got less physical activity , they would easily ended up in
unwanted diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and other health problems to
adolescents. Beside that , They will spend too much leisure time on sitting in front
of computers or tablets instead of being outside playing and exercising. It will lead to
the nagative effect on their eye .

7. Why do you think sport is important ?

Well, there are many different reasons. Firstly, it is universal that playing sport helps
people to strengthen their immune system. The more you do physical activities, the
less chances you get sick. Also, taking up exercises is good for your mental health
too, as it can battle feelings of anxiety and depression, sharpen your focus, and
improve self-esteem. Lastly, doing a sport is a good way to socialise and make
friends. Afterall, spending time with people who share the same interest is a quality
time.

8. Do you think sports stars are good role models for children ?
yes , i do . Well-known athletes who are hard-working, resilient and socially
responsible can become good role models for the young to follow. Beside that ,
many famous sport starts take part in charity events, they can teach the young about
the importance of fulfilling social responsibilities and supporting people with
economic disadvantages.

9. What benifits do internatonal sporting events bring ?

There are various advantages when it comes to sporting events such as
Cultural exchange , which bring people from different countries and cultures
together, promoting cultural exchange and understanding . Beside that ,
Economy has aslo been impacted beacause of creating jobs and boosting
tourism. Furthure more , Boosting morale: International sports events can help
boost morale and bring people together, promoting unity and a sense of
community and other reasons like Promotion of physical activity, Building
international relationships as well as Inspiration for young people

10. Is it important for a country to win lots of medals in an International

event ?
I believe every country wants to win as many trophies as possible since it represents
how great a nation is in sports and athleticism. Being at the top of the medallist is
often considered a great achievement but I personally believe that it is not absolutely
necessary. Participating in international sporting events like the Olympic is often
inspiring for many small nations.
A few medals could be often satisfying and inspiring for them. The most important
thing in an international sporting competition is being able to perform and enjoy it,
not the number of medals won. When athletes and sportsmen from all around the
world gather at a common platform, they not only represent their own country but
also the whole humanity and this is important for maintaining global peace and
harmony.
11. How can sports bring people closer together ?
From my point of view , having an interest in the same sport or sports teams can
bring on friendship. Beside that , sports also lets families come together and
communicate through playing with one another, help build that family friendship, and
also is a cheap way to connect with one another. Furthure more , watching a sport
can inspire someone to get up and get active like their favorite players. The health
benefits of playing sports leads to more positive interactions, which can help people
become productive members of their communities.

12. How have sports changed in the last 20 years ?

Going back 20 years ago, most people didn’t have the opportunity to play sports,
irrespective of their talents. And now , professional players and fans in the industry,
sports innovation is a big plus for their success as they can leverage modern
technology to improve their experience. For example , Sportswear has changed for
the better, thanks to advancements in the clothing industry or we had VAR
technology in soccer , this advanced technology gives referees a second chance to
replay video footage to help them in their decision-making

I. Describe a sport person you admire

who the person is , what sport he or she does , when did you first hear about
this person and why you admire him or her.

My favourite sports person is Leo Messi. He’s a famous football player, and some
would say he’s the best football player in the world. He started his career in
Argentina, where he was born, but moved to Barcelona, in Spain, when he was a
teenager. He had a disability, for which the Spanish team agreed to pay his medical
bills.
Despite his health problems, Messi developed into a modern legend. He has won
numerous trophies over the course of his career, including five “world footballer of
the year” awards – which is a world record. I remember first hearing about him about
ten years ago, when he was first making headlines.
His life story caught my attention just as much as his incredible skills. I admire him
because of his triumph over adversity. I think that his inspiring story of perseverance
is a lesson for us all.
II . Describe a sport match you have watched
In 2018, I happened to watch the final of the AFC U-23 Championship on TV. This
tournament was held in Changzhou in winter, and unfortunately, the weather on that
day was not in good condition at all. The snow was so heavy that the audience
couldn’t really identify the Uzbekistan team since they were wearing white.

To talk more about the match, it was a fierce soccer game between two countries
when the Uzbekistan team scored the first point after 15 minutes after the beginning
of the game. After that, the Vietnam team made several attempts to gain some
scores back, but they were all in vain.

However, when Uzbekistan players committed a foul, our team earned a free kick.
At that moment, the coach chose Quang Hai as his trump card to do the kick.
Unsurprisingly, the atmosphere was hyped up since he scored the first goal in the
last few minutes of the first half.

Coming to the second half, the players in both countries had a faster speed as all of
them wanted victory. Watching the screen, I could feel the tension as well as the
excitement on the field. But there was a downbeat moment for the Vietnamese as
Uzbekistan scored their second goal from the corner. I saw the players crying when
they lost the game, which was heartbroken because they had come so far.

In the end, Vietnam was the runner-up in the Championship. Although I was a little
bit sad when my country didn’t win, seeing the players putting all their effort into the
competition made me feel proud.
Crime and Social issues
1. Is your country a safe country ?
Obviously yes. Vietnam has a legislative body and citizens are protected under a
clear and transparent legal system. I feel lucky as I was born in a country where
there is no terror. Unlike other Western countries where residents are allowed to
bear arms, Vietnamese inhabitants are prohibited to do so. Therefore, I find it safer
to stay here. Besides, law enforcers are assigned to be present on the street to
ensure the safety of traffic participants, which is very nice.

2. What sorts of crime are common where you live ?

From my point of view, pickpocketing is the most typical ill of my society. This is
because law enforcers find it hard to identify potential suspects until they literally
take action. But when it actually happens, it seems too late. I can’t remember how
many times I witnessed people become victims of such illegal behaviors. Not only
losing personal items, people sometimes are dragged on the street, leaving them
with injuries.

3. Should police in your country be stricter or less strict ?

I have to say Vietnamese people are doing a good job, so I mean it’s not about them
being too stiff or not stiff enough. We are all humans, so I believe in some
circumstances, police officers may handle these at a personal level, and I’m totally
fine with it. However, I believe that the legal system should introduce sterner
punishments since people seem to be indifferent to the law. In short, the problem is
about the regulation, not about the police.

4. What is the best way to keep neighborhoods safe?

Well, one of the most optimal ways to ensure the safety of a neighborhood is the
presence of law enforcers. If there are patrols at certain times during the day, I’m
sure lawbreakers are less likely to be involved in crime. Most crimes happen in
deserted areas where there is no supervision from the police officer. That’s why I
believe allotting fixed figures of authority can keep neighborhoods safe.
5. Do you think criminals can change ?

Obsolutely yes. When a person commits a crime, it doesn’t mean they will certainly
recommit. There are many people who are able to turn their lives around after
being reformed. I believe no one was born to be a criminal. Their background, living
conditions, and environment are factors having profound influences on their
behaviors. If an ex-convict is supported, they totally have a chance to become a
beneficial member of society.

6. Can you tell if a kid will grow up to be a criminal ?

7. What do you think are the social causes of crime ?

Our social structure mirrors to citizens and communities what we value and how we
set priorities. Social root causes of crime are: inequality, not sharing power, lack of
support to families and neighborhoods, real or perceived inaccessibility to services,
lack of leadership in communities, low value placed on children and individual well-
being, the overexposure to television as a means of recreation.
8. Do you think that poverty is a justification for crime ?
yes, i do . Poverty is something that affects all nations, and because of this, there are
sections of society that resort to crimes such as theft and pickpocketing to earn a
living. To make matters worse, others prey on the desperation of the poor, to achieve
their personal goals. For example, i read on thư newspaper that in South Africa, rival
factions control the streets of the major cities and they resort to drug smuggling,
extortion, and other misdemeanours to get by.

9. Do people who break the laws in your country receive the correct
punishment ?
The laws are made as such that any act that is illegal according to the constitution of
our country is punishable in its own accord. Some of the most common offences are
traffic related incidents and often involve people not wearing seat belts or helmets. In
a country like ours it is very difficult to maintain law and order to the maximum and
there are repeat offenders who get away with crimes on many occasions. The more
influential person you are the easier it is for one to get away with crimes in my
country so at times people who break the law receive the correct punishment and
sometimes the lawyer and their contacts are able to influence the judiciary and
justice is not delivered.

10. What laws should be introduced so that people do not violate traffic
rules? Why do you think so ?
Traffic laws that force people to pay hefty fines for violating traffic rules can be a
good start. But, for serious violations, there should also be such laws that cancel the
car registration, driving licenses and then take them to prison for a long term
punishment. Finally, there should also be some provisions in the laws that will force
the traffic rule violators to help the “injured and suffering persons” until they are
‘reasonably’ recovered from the wounds/damages of the accidents. I think that these
kinds of laws will work to a large extent because they will make people pay “heavily”
for their ‘irresponsible and criminal behaviour’.
11. What are some situations in which people may disobey some laws ?
Basically, there are two different kinds of situations wherein people may disobey the
laws. First, if a situation comes when a person is not able to meet his/her basic
needs, such as food and medicines, in order to survive, the chances are really high
that he or she will disobey some laws, no matter how harsh the punishment is.
Secondly, if a person feels that some laws are falling short of ensuring “justice” on a
continuous basis, in the name of ensuring some “vague rule of laws”, it is only to be
expected that people will disobey those laws. Interestingly, some people violate laws
just because they do not know them or take the laws very lightly.

12. Why do you think death penalty is not acceptable in some comtries?
As far as i known , numerous countries think that The death penalty is inhumane.
Death penalty can be considered unsuitable punishment for several reasons. The
strongest argument is that we have no rights to kill other humans. Right to live is the
basic right of any human being, and no one can infringe this right, irrespective of the
person’s deeds. Moreover, innocent people can face wrongful execution. Such unfair
sentences take away lives of innocent people and make other citizens lose faith in
law and justice. And besides, sometimes criminals repent of their acts. In this case
they should be given a second chance to improve themselves.

I. Talk about a common crime in your country

I would share to you about pickpocketing , which is the most typical ill of my
society. This is because law enforcers find it hard to identify potential suspects
until they literally take action. But when it actually happens, it seems too late. I can’t
remember how many times I witnessed people become victims of such illegal
behaviors. Not only losing personal items, people sometimes are dragged on the
street, leaving them with injuries.
To deal with this crime , the government is the best way to deal with crimes . The law
can deal with anyone who broke the law because they have professional judges who
have given the offenders a good sentence. Furthermore, the authorities has a lot of
ways to punish the offenders such as corporal punishment and capital punishment,
or some punishments can change the behavior of people who are breaking the law
such as cleaning the street or helping people who have any problem.

ii. Describe a good law in your country

Every country has its own laws to maintain social stability. Today, I would like to talk
about a law that is used to protect the environment. Not so long ago, the Vietnamese
government ordered a ban on dumping garbage in public places.

I first heard about this law on screen. It was the national TV channel that informed
the public about this law, which was enacted because public places in Vietnam had
been full of waste. It says that no one is allowed to litter in public sites, especially
tourist attractions. If anyone breaks the law, littering in these places, this lawbreaker
must pay a fine of about 1 million to 5 million Vietnamese Dong. Although litterers
don’t have to serve time in prison, this amount of money can still act as a deterrent
against this petty crime.

It is absolutely necessary to enforce such a law as it discourages people from

throwing rubbish unconsciously and it helps the government to maintain a clean
environment in famous tourist attractions. After this law came into force, it was
published widely to all people in this country and you could see a big change almost
immediately. The police don’t need to order others to throw trash in the right places
anymore, it gradually becomes a habit of all Vietnamese citizens. Tourist
destinations don’t need to announce the rules anymore as the number of people who
break them is becoming smaller.

And the most important thing is that the citizens’ awareness of protecting the
environment has greatly improved.
Gender equality
1. What behaviors are deemed as approriate for men but inappropriate for
women ?

2. What job are deemed as appopriate for men but inappropriate for
women ?
3. Are there different expectations for sons and daughters in the family ?

Yes , there are stereotypes among sons and daughters.

4. Do you think fathers are capable of carrying out the duties of a mother
and vice versa ?
I believe that there is equality in the world in such a way that a father can do duties a
mother does and as you asked ..vise versa. It is rooted in he type of relationship and
agreement between both partners. Although some societies tend to have their norm
of what a father or mother would do, nowadays the barrier has been broken because
of the necessity to have a dual income family. They have to be flexible because both
of them are already out earning at their own time and it would be pretty tiring for a
wife to do both the household chore and earning at one run.So there has to be a
logical agreement of sharing the other duties a family. In other words they both can
do duties interchangeably.
5. Should boys and girls be bought up differently ?

6. Do you think women are highly regarded in your society ? Why?

yes , i do . There have been huge changes for women in terms of employment
opportunites the past decades, with women moving into paid employment
outside the home in ways that their grandmothers and even their mothers
could only dream of. Beside , women these day have more chances to
approach top-not education and healthcare . It allows women gain more
power to be a leadership in their life and also contribute more to my country .

7. Are there gender role biased issues in your country ? What are they ?
yes , there are . Gender discrimination reveals itself in many different forms,
sometimes obvious and sometimes not.
Unequal treatment of people based on their gender has lifelong and generational
impacts. Millions of women in my country , especially in remote areas , are denied
access to education, health services and economic opportunities, experience
reduced access to food or live in fear of gender-based violence .

8. What are the negative impacts of gender inequality on society ?

Gender inequality affects everyone, including men. Stereotypes or ‘rules’ about how
women and men, girls and boys should be begin in childhood and follow us through
to adulthood. It has the nagative effect not only on mental health but also physical
one .
Not everyone experiences inequality the same way. The situation is worse, and often
different, for people who face more than one type of discrimination, which lead
chronic stress or even self-distructive .

9. What measures has your national goverment implemented to minimize

gender discrimination ?
The Vietnamese government has made it a priority to increase the participation of
women in the workplace. To help facilitate these goals, the Vietnamese government
has adopted the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2021-2030 period.

With women making up approximately 50 percent of the population, encouraging

women entrepreneurship is central to this strategy. The plan also defines specific
goals for Vietnam to promote gender equality in various areas.

10. What do you think are the causes of income inequality between
genders ?
11. Do men and women have equal opportunities for promotion in the
workplace ?

I. Describe a female leader you would like to meet .

I would talk about Ms Thái Vân Linh - also known as Shark Linh - a female leader
I'd love to see in person. I will refer to her as 'Shark Linh' in this small talk.
Although born in Vietnam, Shark Linh was brought to the US with her family when
she was very little. Therefore, whereas she has an impressive command of English,
she's still occasionally struggling in getting her ideas across in Vietnamese.
However, the language barrier does not hinder her from embarking on a new venture
in Vietnam. she rejected great offers from American corporations to become the
CEO at VietnamCapital, and later launched her start-up - Rita Phil - a company that
sells tailor-made bridal gowns.
Shark Linh is most famous for her role as a Shark in Shark Tank Vietnam - the
Vietnamese version of the famous reality TV series. Though she's usually the calmer
Shark among the four who usually take a gentler approach when she makes
comments on others, she's also very sharp in making decisions. From what I've
observed throughout the series, Shark Linh only invested in fields she had great
knowledge of.
Shark Linh has been a great role model for Vietnamese young women. Her famous
saying "I see no discrepancy in agility and ability between men and women" and her
appearance in the show has inspired thousands of Vietnamese women, encouraging
them to work in the field of finance.

Travel and Holidays

1. Do you often travel ?

Well, to be quite honest, I do some travelling once in a blue moon. As I’m up to my

ears in the study, I don’t find much idle time to go travelling more frequently. But in
the near future, after I leave school, I will spend more time travelling.

2. Do you prefer travelling alone or in a group ?

I love travel with a group because traveling with other people would certainly be safe
and we are able to support as well as rely on each other.
Another reason that traveling with friends is a good way to make friendships
stronger, and become more powerfully. It’s also good for learning more about your
friends, and sharing experiences together. You know, sharing your excitement and
feelings during the trip with friends will make it an unforgettable adventure.
3. Which cities would you like to visit the most ?
I have a myriad of destinations on my must-visit list around the world. However, if I
get the opportunity to choose one city, I would probably pick London, which is one of
the most prominent capitals around the globe. There are also some interesting facts
about London that I want to witness in real life. One of them is the fact about the Big
Ben tower. So far, many people have seen the tall clock tower and thought that it is
Big Ben.

4. When is the best time to travel in your country ?

The prime time to visit Vietnam is in autumn (September to November) when the
weather is most favourable: it is sunny but not too hot or humid. Most importantly,
these months are not local holiday season, thus less crowded.

5. Where would you recommend a fofeigner to visit in your country ?

I can confidently say that Vietnam has some of the world’s best tourist attractions as
a “traveler” who has visited many regions. Many have yet to achieve global fame.
The Ba Na Hills demonstrate this. The Ba Na Hills is 25 kilometers East of the rice
field and 25 kilometers Southwest of Da Nang’s city center in the Truong Son
mountain range in Hoa Vang. Forests protected the Ba Na Hills. Sun Group built Ba
Na Hills which offers an impressive natural system, unexpected services, and a
variety of landscapes that harmoniously blend spirituality, entertainment, and
religious practice.

6. Why do you think tourism is increasingly developed now ?

I believe that the primary reason for developing tourism in a country is due to the
economic benefits that it brings. A well-developed tourism industry creates a lot of
new businesses and jobs for local people, and an influx of money from foreign
tourists. In addition to this, promoting international tourism can help to improve
international relations with other countries, and to share a country’s customs and
culture with people all around the world. Many people these days are interested in
learning about different cultures and ways of living, and tourism helps to facilitate this
experience.
7. How has tourism contributed to the development of your country
Tourism offers great opportunities for emerging economies and developing
countries. It creates jobs, strengthens the local economy, contributes to local
infrastructure development and can help to conserve the natural environment and
cultural assets and traditions, and to reduce poverty and inequality. This can be
achieved, in particular, if local people are able to benefit from the income
opportunities arising from tourism.

8. Do you think travel can change people’s ways of thinking ?

yes , definitely . Traveling is an essential part of our lives, and we are not afraid to
say it shaped our perception of many things. Traveling is not only about pretty
photos, Instagram selfies, checking the attractions off the bucket list, and lazing on
the beach.

The journey helps you form your personality, broaden your horizons, and the
experience, both positive and negative teach you to trust yourself and your
decisions.

9. What factors do people have to consider before a trip ?

There are various elements that i think people consider before preparing for a trip
such as : budget , duration of the trip, Type of travel experience you want to have,
Travel companions , and weather…. So i think following these factors before
choosing a destination and I end up in trouble. For a perfect planning and perfect
destination these factors a re really helpful.

10. How do you think travelling will change in the next 20 years ?

i think travelling as we know it will change dramatically over the next 20 years .
International travel will be a faster, easier and more ecologically sustainable activity
than ever before. in the future, maybe we instantly checkin with New Technology, for
example , facial pattern recognition systems are already in experimental use at
airports and within 20 years, computer systems that can reliably identify your face
will be in widespread use to check-in seamlessly or Space will be a Regular
Destination

I. Describe a vacation that you recently had

A few months ago, I went to the South of Vietnam for a vacation with my family. It’s

was to the lovely coastal city of Nha Trang, which is also a very famous tourist

destination. We decided to go there by plane since it is nearly 1200 kilometres from

Hanoi, and would take a long time by car or train.

I was so eager for the trip that I prepared everything such as my clothes, camera and

other accessories a week in advance. It took about an hour to fly there, and luckily,

the flight took off on time. The trip began with an incredible view from the airplane

window and I can still remember being quite overwhelmed by the beauty of my city

from above and the amazing sunset.

The time we spent in Nha Trang was a blast. We got to try out so many new things

such as skydiving, surfing, and diving to see the coral reef. This place has one of the

most beautiful beaches in Vietnam with deep blue water and pearly-white sand. Also,

the food there was so unique and delicious. I think the most memorable moment of

that trip though was definitely when we bought fresh ingredients from a local market

and grilled them by the beach. Sitting there by the fire on a breezy night with the

delicious smell freshly barbequed fish was an amazing experience.

The trip to Nha Trang really was the holiday of a lifetime. We had a lot of fun and got

to see a lot of spectacular scenery. We definitely enjoyed it and we will definitely go

there again if we have a chance.

ii. Describe a trip that didn’t go as you had planned / expected

I would like to talk about the time when my journey was delayed due to the bad

weather.

I can’t remember precisely when it was because I have a terrible memory for dates,

but it was several years ago when my besties and I decided to make a 3-day trip to

Nha Trang, which is a coastal city in the South of Vietnam.

We booked a flight to Nha Trang. I expected we would arrive in Nha Trang in the

afternoon, and then we could enjoy sunny weather and beautiful beaches. However,

the weather, unfortunately, is unpredictable. To my great disappointment, when we

arrived at the airport on our departure day, it rained heavily and was so windy that

our flight to Nha Trang was delayed for 4 hours.

To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We had already checked in, so

we had no choice but to stay in the waiting room.

When we finally arrived in Nha Trang, it was quite late. Therefore, instead of

sunbathing and swimming in the water, we just ended up staying in the boring hotel

and complaining about the unexpected weather.

Luckily, the weather was really nice the next day, and we could enjoy the sun and

the beach to our heart’s content.

Film & Music

1. What kinds of movies do you like the best ?

Well, I would say I’m still a kid at heart (a person who still feels like a child in their

heart), so I really enjoy watching kids’ movies. Although they seem simple and

innocent, there are often many life lessons packed into these films. Moreover, I’m

really into drama and historical movies. When I watch these, I feel that I can deeply

understand human emotions and re-live historical moments, like the Vietnam-

America War or World War II.

2. How often do you watch movies ?

Well, I am quite a busy bee, but I manage to see about one or two films a week at

home. After a long day of studying, I love snuggling up on the sofa and watching a

film to unwind. I tend to do this on Friday and Sunday evenings with my friends.

3. Do you like to watch movies alone or with your friend ?

Both! On one hand, I find it extremely relaxing to chill out and fall asleep to a film by

myself, but it’s also enjoyable to have company. So, all in all, I prefer films with

friends, since they are also into film. Afterwards, we can discuss the meaning and

carry on inside jokes from quotes from the film later on!

4. What kinds of music are popular in your country ?

In my country, there are many different types of music that people like to listen to.

Pop music is always fashionable and so is folk music. People have many different

tastes and there are always concerts for classical, rock, pop and folk. Traditional

music is still much loved for weddings and baptism celebrations, as well as village

festivals in the summer months.

5. Do you prefer listening to live music or recorded music ?

i think that I refer listening to live performances because I could hear and feel the

singer and the musical instruments directly. Additionally, the atmosphere at the living

show is always exciting to me when I am enjoying in.

6. Which musical instrument do you like listening to the most ?

As I see it, there are many musical instruments but my favorite one is piano. I like it

because of many reasons. Firstly, it makes me unwind when listening; I can forget all

of my sorrows and feel comfortable. Secondly, when playing it, I can imagine the

sounds of many things such as birds, stream etc. Lastly, I can concentrate on my

homework; it helps me solve many problems.

7. How has your taste in music changed over the last 10 years ?
8. How has technology affected the music industry ?

9. Is there any difference in music liked by different age group ?

Generally, most people seem to enjoy whatever’s popular during their time, so older people

tend to prefer songs from the past while younger people gravitate towards genres that are

much more modern, but it’s more complicated than that. Speaking from a scientific point of

view, someone’s taste in music is largely influenced by what they listened to in their

childhood, which would often be deemed superior to other genres that they are exposed to

later in life.

10. Should flims and television be consored or should be we be free to choose

what we see ?

I believe censorship makes sure a movie or a TV programme is suitable for the

general audience. Without some sort of censorship, many cinemas and TV series
would include terribly violent and offensive scenes which would ultimately diminish

their quality and their acceptance to the family. The idea of freedom of expression in

a movie varies from people to people and even from country to country. Thus a

censorship panel can determine what is suitable for the audience and how much

editing is required for a cinema to be released or for a programme to be broadcast

on TV. This ensures a balance in the entertainment industry.

Furthermore, the young generation constitutes a major percentage of cinema and TV

audience and they are often influenced by the movie they watch and by their

favourite actors or actresses. If no censorship is in place and they are free to watch

any movie or programme they want, we would end up having a society with more

juvenile delinquency.

11. How do you think consorship laws will change the next 20 years ?

I believe the censorship laws would become more rigid to eliminate violent and

offensive scenes from a movie but would allow creative artists to express their

viewpoints more freely in the future. Specifically, after 20 years, we will have more

laws related to movie censorship and ordinary people would be allowed to express

their views about movie censorship. By that time, many programmes would be

released worldwide and we will have global censorship panels who would determine

what TV programmes and movies are suitable for what countries.

I. Describe a famous person you admire

ii. Describe a song from your childhood .

Talking about songs, I have way too many good ones to mention. However, if you
ask about my childhood favorite there’s only one called “Que Huong” – which can
broadly be understood in English as “My Country”.

This song used to be the lullaby not only for me but all the kids in my village. If my
memory doesn’t fail me, I believe my mother first sang it to me when I was 2 or 3
years of age. It could be long before that, I can’t say for sure.

When I was a child, mom used this song to soothe and send me to sleep. I begged
her to do that every night not only because she could sing it beautifully in harmony
but also because of the familiar images that appeared in my innocent mind at that
time. Even now, her voice and the tune sometimes echo in my head.

My Country” describes the peaceful life in the countryside of Vietnam. It was actually
a poem, which was modified and set to tune by a Vietnamese composer. This song
portrays earnestly and beautifully everything about Vietnam countryside: the fruits
orchards, the full moon night, the monkey bridge, etc. and what I particularly love is
the way the author compared Vietnam with a devoted mother whom we always miss
and want to rush back whenever we’re away from.

As a little girl, I loved it because of the familiarity. Now as an adult, I partially

understand the reason why it’s still one of my favorites. It was all about my mom, her
voice was so smooth and soothing. No matter what happened during the day, she
always put everything at ease and put me to sleep.

Sometimes on the street, I suddenly heard the song and all the good old days and
memories flooded back. Once in a while, I do listen to it myself, especially when I
miss my mother.
Personal Development
1. What would you say is the greatest milestone in your life ?

2. Which skill has been the most useful to you in all aspect of life ?

3. What would you like to learn to enhance your professional skill ?

4. Which feature of your characteristics have negative impact on your
personal development ?

5. Do you think you have to change anything to improve yourself ?

6. Do you think that it’s important for people to calebrate their achievement
?
Yes, I definitely think people should celebrate whenever they are successful in some
area of life. I think the celebration is important because it marks the end of a period
of effort, and so it's a chance to enjoy the moment, to take stock of what you have
achieved, and to share the achievement with others. This is why, for example,
universities have graduation ceremonies, which encourage students to celebrate
together and to take pride in what they have done.

7. Do you think failure is a necessary thing for a person’s seccess ?

yes, i do . Failure is not a step backward; it’s an excellent stepping stone to success.
We never learn to move out of our comfort zone if we don’t overcome our fear of
failure. The most progressive companies deliberately seek employees with track
records reflecting both failure and success. That’s because someone who survives
failure has gained irreplaceable knowledge and the unstoppable perseverance born
from overcoming hardship.

8. Is it true that seccessful people are happier than unsuccessful people ?

9. How has the way people gain success changed during the past 20
years ?
10. Do you agree that our personalities and achievements depend more on
nuture than nature ?
