Explaining people’s habits in the past

We use “used to” to talk about a past situation or habit that continued
for a long time and to emphasize that the situation is different today.

» When I was a child, I used to play street games every day.


(I don’t do that now.)

We make negative sentences and questions with didn’t + used to:


» She didn’t use to have a mobile phone. (She has a mobile phone now.)

We form questions with: did + S+ use + to+ V1?


» Did he use to feed a dog?
