HOW TO USE A FRENCH PRESS
Boil Water: Start by boiling water. Once boiled, let it cool for about 30 seconds to a
minute so that it's around 200°F (93°C). The water should not be boiling when you
pour it over the coffee grounds.
Measure Coffee: Use coarsely ground coffee beans. A common ratio is about 1:15, one
part coffee to 15 parts water. Adjust according to your taste preferences.
Add Coffee Grounds: Place the coarsely ground coffee into the French press.
Add Water: Pour the hot water over the coffee grounds. Make sure to saturate all the
grounds evenly.
Stir and Bloom: Give the mixture a gentle stir with a wooden or plastic spoon to ensure
all the grounds are saturated. Let it bloom for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Attach Lid and Plunge: After the bloom, attach the lid to the French press without
pressing down the plunger. Let the coffee steep for about 4 minutes.
Press Down Plunger: After the steeping time is up, press down the plunger slowly and
evenly. This separates the coffee grounds from the liquid.
Pour and Enjoy: Pour the brewed coffee into your mug, and it's ready to enjoy!
