Science, arts, commerce
We see people around us puzzled which subject to take after SSLC. Some take science even their performance in the field is low. Some taking commerce, and unlikely some taking arts even they had came out in flying colours during their high school days. Parents forcing the children to take science, or commerce but no one ask to take arts! I might be a science student but I really like to share my ideas. Lets take an example of Judge having a lot of experience. He has given many judgements each being the best. He has been honoured several times by the public and by the government too. Now he is retired as a judge of Supreme Court. But if you take him to the lab and ask him to synthesize any chemical, he may end his experiment with a KABOOM! Similarly if you take a scientist studied a lot, spending 24 hours in the lab, receiver of the noble prize for a great contribution to human society. If you ask him to give judgement to a small quarrel, he might start a new quarrel! I am not here to accuse these two but to say that every one is good (lets say it very good) at their field. Dog cant catch mouse, cat cant watch over the house. Many of us try to take the courses only on the scope. This is because everyone wants a happy life. Well that is not a problem because it is a basic property of all the living beings. But the fact is that everyone can lead a happy life by taking any subject. If you observe a honeybee, it collects nectar from flower. Anyone can pose a question, why doesnt it steal the honey? Or why doesnt it drink the nectar immediately after collecting it? The answer is it loves its job. It has some satisfaction in it. What is important is your love and interest towards the subject. It is a common say that science students are brilliant, they are genius. This one contradiction makes parents to force their children to take science just for prestige or to show that their children are smart. But as the scientist Feynman says When a scientist talks about a non-scientific matter he sounds as nave as anyone untrained in the matter. Take Ghandi, Vivakanda, and Ambedkar, did they study science? No. Take todays best examples Bill gates, Anna Hajare, did they study science? No. Science may be difficult but useful thing, but it doesnt give justice. But look at the other subjects. They talk about human qualities, which are more important than science for a peaceful human society. Science and technology may give man easiness. It may lessen the mans effort by providing many useful devises. But it doesnt account for its use; I mean whether to use it for good or bad. A computer can be used to launch satellites meant for communication or to launch missiles meant for war. Look at biotechnology; its techniques such as cloning, genetic engineering have brought up large issues in the society. By using cloning techniques a social worker may think of creating hundreds of Ghandi, but a terrorist may think of creating thousands of Bin Laden! Afore great thinking is necessary in leading these inventions. I am not blaming science. It is like a garam masala for the one who loves it. The nature is also a difficult thing to understand. Its the science who gave all the facilities to man. But it needs some sort of guidance. It needs support. But look at todays fact. A cricketer is remembered and honoured for centuries; where as a scientist who made broadcasting of the cricket possible doesnt get a piece of it. These are the other issues. Well, totally every subject truly plays an important role in bringing up the society. Next time when somebody chooses subjects please take the one which is suitable for you.
