Scene 1

The camera follows a protagonist from the passenger seat of his car through various scenes. In scene 1, he angrily drives away after receiving upsetting news. The camera follows movement while remaining in the passenger seat


of the car.
Scene 1
(We see the protagonist walk hastily and angrily out to the car.
There is no noise. From outside of the vehicle we see the
protagonist banging on the steering wheel yelling, “FUCK! FUCK1
FUCK!” He lays his head against it [shot changes to inside the
vehicle]. The protagonist turns the key in the ignition, starting
the vehicle[insert] and drives away.)
Scene 2
(Scene opens with a profile of the protagonist driving on loop
289[insert of loop 289 sign] from the perspective of the
passenger seat. [Insert] He turns on the radio, switching between
2-3 stations before settling in on a station playing “Unwell” by
Matchbox Twenty)
(Song begins at “Hold on/Feeling like I’m headed for a breakdown.
Sound bridge transition.)
(We see the protagonist stopped in traffic when he receives a
text [insert] from “Mom.” The text reads “I know this has been
hard. This isn’t what your father and I wanted. But we need you
to show up to the courthouse tomorrow for the custody hearing.
I’m sorry. Please be there.” He sets the phone down [beat].
(The camera pans across to the clock and radio then back up out
the passenger window as we see the protagonist walking down the
steps of the courthouse alone, gets in the car, pauses, and
changes stations[insert].)
Scene 3
(After the insert of the changed station we are back in the
present. The protagonist switches stations again and we hear “Say
Something” by A Great Big World. [insert of the time on the
clock, flashes to 4:36].)
(We see the protagonist hurriedly pull into the parking lot of
the hospital, jump out of the car, and run into the hospital. The
camera pans back across from the hospital doors to the clock that
now reads 2:00. The protagonist is sitting in the car, dressed in
a black suit, looking out across the cemetery towards one of the
gravestones after the funeral. [insert]He starts the car and
begins to drive away as the camera pans ack across to the clock,
still reading 2:00, and pan back up to the protagonist at the
cemetery once more but in different clothing He is holding a
bouquet of roses or carnations and a letter [insert] addressed
“Sydney”. He gets out of the car and walk around the front of the
vehicle to a gravestone on the passenger side. He lays down the
flowers and letter and then sits in front of the gravestone. The
camera slowly pans back across to the clock which now reads that
original time and we see the protagonist change the radio station
again [insert].)
Scene 4
(The protagonist changes stations a few times before stopping on
“Imagine” by John Lennon. It is now sunset. We see the
protagonist driving with the light shining on his face. We hold
on his face as he listens, thinking, and a hopeful grin creeps
across his face. The shot changes to the sunset out the front
widow and fades out as the music plays.)
