7. Building Structural Assessment
A as built, 3d scanning, Site visual inspection and Existing Site Steel Section Measurement were conducted and
reviewed by our team on the warehouses located at Musasafah, in Abu Dhabi Emirate, UAE . The as built did not
cover the concrete structures or the foundations, accordingly review and assessment is not possible for the same.
This section is intended to verify the structural integrity of the existing steel structure concerning the expected load
from the new cladding and collateral load from the expected MEP services as per authority requirements.
All the type of Existing Structure are Designed and checked using STAAD Software by adding the Additional
Collateral loads along with Dead , Live, Wind, Seismic, Temperature loads and found unsafe in Strength and
Serviceability.
Due to Increase in loads on existing ( Erected at site) Structure, the members are failing in Strength & Servicebility.
To pass these members we have added additional plates to the existing members by plates to flange to Strengthing.
Refer to the below sketch the typical strengthening of a member, refer to appendix drawings for strengthening is
added.
76
TYPE 01(Closed Store):
Loadings:
Dead loads; 0.18kN/sqm( Includes Selfweight of purlins and Cladding)
Live loads:0.6 kN/sqm
Collateral loads : 0.35 kN/sqm
WL: 162km/hr
Seismic Zone: 2
Temperature loads : +/- 25 degree

Conclusion:
1- Due to the additional loads incurred due to the addition of sandwich panels and
addition of collateral load to cater for the MEP requirements of authorities’ i.e.
firefighting smoke expulsion, etc. all structural members are failing.
