Internship is an opportunity offered by various companies to potential students or candidates

called as “intern ”, to work in the firm for a limited or fixed time period. Internship offers
students lots of exposure to the practical world and provide practical experience in the industry
relating to their field of study. This becomes a valuable experience as it allows us to understand
how our studies are applied in the real world. Internship experience provides the opportunity to
apply classroom theories into the real world. Introduction my internship experience at the Aadhar
Niketan. I was extremely honored to get the opportunity to work as an intern for this
organization. This organization was open for the aim of providing services to the local people of
community. Aadhar Niketan are usually established and managed by local communities with
financial and technical support from the Bhaktapur municipality and other agencies. CLC’S
operate public library for the formal education knowledge system and intend primarily to
addressed the learners basic literacy and educational needs and therefore support the holistic
development of citizens and communities. CLC’S also conduct different health camps, conduct
sport competition between local children. Talking about my experience I collected lots of
memories and lots of knowledge from the agency. We were 3 members. Each member have
different experience. We renovate the library by doing paint in every wall, table and cub boards.
We draw different cartoons in the wall for the attraction of children. It was so difficult to paint
the wall because it was our first experience of painting, but we enjoyed every difficulty we faced.
People around the library were supportive but few people argue with us while performing the
activities. There was a small shop near the library. The owner was a beautiful grandmother who
helps us by providing water for working and drinking too. During our internship time we do
different fun by playing different games for few times. Our internship time was after the college
to 4pm. During internship we missed our morning meal for more than one months. The members
of CLC group conducted the annual program where the different students share their training
experience. While doing the internship we applied different principles such as principles of
acceptance, principle of participation and principles of cooperation. We also learned about the
communication skills, managing skills that helps to work in managing different camps and
seminars and also learn about the group work and get the knowledge of group engagement in
every work. Our team was very thankful towards the agency for providing the platform required
for gaining knowledge in internship. We also want to thanks the Aadhar Niketan from the core of
heart for providing the token of love with different memories and lots of love from team.

Social group work isa systematic process begins from planning phase and ends with the
completion of final phase. Talking about our Rural Social Work Camp held on Ghalegau
Lamjung from kartik 1 to kartik 5. We collected the different memories. Before the camp start
we camp participant make a different plan which is known as planning phase. Planning phase
also have different sub phase which is pre-group planning. During this phase we made the 4
group. Each member have got more than 10 members. There was a one group leader in every
group. Other different leader was also made in different topic such as health, documentation,
fooding , PR. All this planning was made before the camp activities. All the participants
members were present during the planning phase. After successful planning group decided to
move towards our Social Work Rural Camp. In our planning we had decided to perform 4
different activities like social mapping and survey, school session, community engagement and
closing ceremony. All the group decided to perform different activities in closing ceremony. All
members have promised to maintain the discipline during our camp. In planning phase we had
made the camp coordinator, who looks after the camp activities.By planning all the schedules we
decided to move from college on kartik 1st. Every students were gathered in college and had a
breakfast in college canteen. There was a KN sir, Sundar sir and travel partner with us. Our
journey begins from college. Inside bus we played a music and enjoyed by dancing inside the
bus. Every students were very excited to reach the destination. About 11:00 am we reach for our
morning meal. We enjoyed our morning meal which was very tasty. Again our journey begins.
We were in cabin so our driver explained the beautiful place which was seen during our journey.
Our bus was long and wide so we need to exchange the bus from Benibazzar. At about 4:00pm
we reached to Benibazzar and exchange the bus to reach our destination. Due to lack of time we
had have our tiffin inside the bus. Near about 6:30pm we reach to our destination. It was fully
dark so in that day we can’t enjoy the view of village. Gurung community people welcome us by
putting white tikka and flowers. There was already 6 homestay booked for us. Every homestay
owner came to pick up in the bus station. We went to the homestay of Mr. Uttam Raj Ghale.
There was 3 members present in his home. His children were staying at Benibazzar for study.
After reaching homestay we became fresh and take rest for certain time. We were provided with
2 rooms. In one room we decided to stay 5 members and in next room we stay 3 members.
According to planning we start our social mapping. For social mapping, we used information
from the information center, and took help from the owner of Ghalegau homestay Mr. Uttam Raj
Ghale and self exploration. After that, we had our snack and we were busy with tomorrow’s
presentation and we also conducted sharing session at homestay before dinner. On kartik 2 nd we
went to view the sun’s rise view during early morning. After having breakfast all the students
gathered for presentation with their leader and the group members. The day began with the
presentation on social mapping and a social survey that the participants carried out on previous
day. After having lunch our group went door to door for collecting data for the social survey
related to menstruation. And at night, we conducted sharing session at our homestay before the
dinner. According to our planning the 3rd day was school session and community engagement but
due to the problem of our travel partner we made a change in schedule and on the third day we
went to visit Bhujung. It takes an hour to reach Bhujung on foot from Ghalegau. There were
homestay facility in 29 house of the village. On kartik 4 th as usual we all participants gathered
together to discuss the activities to carry out on that day with their leaders and group members.
The day began with a presentation on social survey that the participants carried out in the
previous day. The leader of my team was Manju Suwal. After finishing the morning session we
ate our meal and walk nearly about 1hrs for our school session. For school session our group has
already planned to give the knowledge about self defense for the girls of school. After reaching
to school we asked the permission to the school principal of school for the session. The principal
gave us the permission. We gathered the girls of class 8, 9, 10 in the school grounds and make a
big round circle. Before starting our training we conducted the short introduction session with
the students. After the introduction session we started our training session. Students were
showing positive responses towards us. After finishing the training we provide the token of love
to the school and as well as to the good performers of the session. We need to walk 1hrs so in
rush we return from the school. After back to the homestay we gathered all the women of the
homestay area for the community engagement. Then we gave a short paper presentation on
menstrual hygiene. At first they were feeling shy to express their problem. But after sometimes
they share their problems with us. Our plan was performing the pad making training so, we
started to teach the cotton pad making training. All the needy equipment for training was carried
out by our team. As a ward we gave the packet of tikka to every women who were participated
for training. Due to our tight schedule we conducted the closing session on same day at 5:00pm.
During the closing session the four teams gave a presentation on PRA and community
engagement. Then the four leaders Lila, Smith, Manju, and Baliman expressed their gratitude for
the success of their leadership and thanked all of team members and respected teachers for
guiding us through the camp. We were also provided with the camp certificate. I also gave the
short speech on experience of being a leader of health and services. After returning from the
closing session we packed our bag for returning. On kartik 5 th we return to our college. Before
returning the owner of our homestay Mr. Uttam Raj Ghale prepared a tikka and garland for the
farewell to our group as the system of Gurung culture. While returning we had have our lunch in
Tanahau District. While performing all these activities different principles are applied such as,
non judgmental attitude, meaningful relationship, effective communication, non-violence and co
operation. During this camp I have got chance to apply the theoretical knowledge into practical
field and learned to interact with people and deal with people. I have learned many things like,
learned the methods of survey in practical fields, learned the lifestyle of people of Ghalegau,
learned to have positive attitude as needy character of a person, understand the values of team
work and coordination and at last learned how to co operate with campmates and local people of
community. I have faced challenges like difficulty in understanding the language of the natives,
completing task in short period of time and difficulty to travel in a new place. Besides all these
challenges and difficulty I am very glad to get the opportunity to get the knowledge about
various things, experienced lifestyle of the new environment, specially the rural life and learned
to work on groups. The time which I spend on Ghalegau was very fruitful. I got chance to apply
my learning experience for all the students.

Not all the experience are positive during camp, I have got some negative experience too.
Talking about negative experience there was daily fight between my group and next group which
was so disgusting. We need to always suffer from their bad words and behavior. The
misunderstanding was started from the first day of camp at the bus. At first fight was created by
the music system. Our group was adjusting in the cabin seat and the music system was with the
other group. That was not their personal speaker, the speaker was college property. But some of
boys show the behavior like that was their own property. The fight was ended in the bus in the
same day but they show the same behavior in next day during social interaction. Our group was
so much discriminated. In the same days there was a camp fire, all participants were enjoying the
camp fire but our group was sitting in the same place and enjoying in our own way, suddenly one
member of next group talk in loud voice with us and gave the speaker and next group also leave
the place by making us alone. There was teachers with us and next group’s boys gave company
to our group. The next day was our visiting day, all participants were present in the area where
teacher said us to stay, but while going in the place the few girls teased by using different sound.
They always used that sound whenever we passed from them. Our anger was on high level but
sir stop us not to talk with them. Same behavior same discrimination was shown by them in
every days. While returning they again used the bad word to our group members. Besides these
negative experience we enjoyed our camp in our own ways. We tackle all this problems by
enjoying in our group.

Casework is a method of social work with procedures, the body of knowledge and a definite
process through which the client problems is solved. I also performed a case work. I study the
case of Gopal Magar(changed). He was 32yrs. His problem was, he feel fear of being in crowd
though he was a taxi driver. He also feel of being in crowd and speaking infront of other since a
month. First episode was occurred when he was 28. He get angry, sleep difficulty even in posture
while lying on back, sometimes difficulty while walking, climbing stairs feel like he’s going to
die, gets irritated with everything around him, loosing interest in watching Tv and reading
newspaper. I have collected all this information from himself. At first he was feeling
uncomfortable with me but after telling him , I am a psychology student he told me all the
problems. Listening his problem psychologist told him that he was suffering from anxiety with
depressive disorder. Psychologist suggest him to get treatment like medication, behavioral
management therapy. I study his case for 1 week. Those 1 week was so precious for me to get
the knowledge about case work. During the case work I have learned different things like, self-
control, anger management.

Being a student of social work I feel so proud to explain my experience infront of other people.
I want to thank my instructor Mr. Sundar Shrestha sir for providing us such wonderful activities
where we experienced lots of things. We also get the opportunity to show the theoretical
knowledge into practical knowledge. During the work we faced different things, but keeping
them beside we enjoy all the struggle and challenges.
