Figure 5-27 Drawing Toolbar

5.3.1 Frame Selection Tools

In this group, there are the tools, which can only be available after the drawing area is
selected in frame, such as selection tools, matrix copy, linear copy, multi-copy and so on.

5.3.1.1 Selection Tools

This tool is used to set a rectangle area in the drawing area so that user could carry out the
relating operations to the selected area like copy, cut or mirror. The selection tools can also be
used for Matrix Copy, Linear Copy, Multi-copy, Insert Colume in Frame, Delete Colume in Frame,
Insert Row in Frame, Delete Row in Frame, Fill in Frame, Clear Internal Area, Clear External
Area and so on.
Functions:
Selection: Firstly, click the left button of mouse on the drawing area; secondly, move the
mouse to the wanted position to form a rectangle; thirdly, click the left button of mouse to confirm

Attributes:
Adjust Size: By using the 8 direction keys on the attribute bar or the directions keys on the
keyboard, user can adjust the size of the frame. Clicking the “Enlarge” or “Reduce” button at the
center of the direction keys will change the adjustment mode of the frame. At here, we will take
the “Enlarge” as an example to introduce this function:
Click “Up” (in the attribute bar) or hold the “Ctrl + Up (on keyboard)” to move the
upper horizontal side of the frame upward, which will enlarge the height of the frame
with the width remaining; with the same reason, clicking “Down” (in the attribute bar)
or holding the “Ctrl + Down(on keyboard)” will move the under horizontal side
downward, which will also enlarge the height of the frame.
Click “Left” (in the attribute bar) or hold the “Ctrl + Left (on keyboard)” to move the
left vertical side to the left, which will enlarge the width of the frame with the height
remaining.
The keys, “Upper Left”, “Upper Right”, “Down Left” and “Down Right”, on the
Attributes Bar are used to change the position of the vertexes of the rectangle. If user
clicks the “Upper Left”, the down horizontal side and the right vertical side of the
rectangle will keep still while the upper horizontal side and the left vertical side of the
rectangle will go up and left respectively, which enlarge the rectangle in height and
width. The functions of other three direction keys are similar to this one.
Move: By using the direction keys on the attribute bar or the keyboard, user can change the
position of the frame.
Clicking the direction keys on the attribute bar will be able to change the position of the
frame. During the relocation, the frame will not be changed in size but only in position.
The relocation of the frame can only change the position of the frame in the drawing
area, in which the internal pattern of the frame will not be moved along with the frame.
So please pay attention to the differences between the functions of Move and the
Copy(or Cut).

23
Dahao Design System Operation Manual

Same as the “Adjust Size” it is, the “Move” function can also be achieved by holding
the “Ctrl+ direction keys (on keyboard)”.
Select All: Selecting the “Select All” in the attribute bar will have the system to select the
entire drawing area. Pressing the “Ctrl+ A” will also achieve this result. Pressing “ESC” will
cancel this operation.
Select Service Area: After the clicking on the “Select Service Area”, the system will
automatically select the available pattern sections in the drawing area. Pressing “ESC” will cancel
this operation.

5.3.1.2 Matrix Copy

This tool will select the rectangle section in the drawing area or use the selected section as
the basic unit and tile them on the drawing area in term of array.
Functions
Selection: The Matrix Copy tool has the function of selection, whose operation method is
same to that of the Selection Tools.
Matrix Copy: After selecting this tool, user has to select the unit for copy at first. Then, user
can click left button of mouse in the internal area of the frame and move the icon to the target

5.4.2 Operations of Option Lines

5.4.2.1 201Economize

At making the designs, some patterns appear in cycle, like the rib at body bottom and the rib
at cuff. For these parts, the system always needs to knit them for several even many dozen times.
If we set “Economize” in the option line 201, we will only need to draw one pattern unit instead of

60
Dahao Design System Operation Manual

drawing all the repetition patterns on the design. In Figure 5-87, it is to set the circle of the rim at
20 times.
The “Economize” should be started at the odd number row at CNT and ended at the even
number row of the CNT. Meanwhile, user has to make sure that the position of the yarn-feeder at
circle end shall be same to that at the circle start.
If the pattern for repeating has nesting structure, user will have to set the internal cycle
number and the external cycle number at the 1st column and 2nd column at 201 function line
respectively. As shown in Figure 5-88, the “heart-shaped” pattern will be repeated for 3 times and
the pattern after the repetition will be cycled for 10 times again. Please refer to Figure 5-89 for
reference.
If two “Economize” are connected and equal in times, they should be set at the “Inner
economize” and “Outer Economize” respectively, as shown in Figure 5-90.

module. Please refer to Chapter 8 for details.

5.4.2.2 214Knitting Type

1) Intarsia

Figure 5-91 Intarsia Knitting

Normal Yarn-feeder: When using the normal yarn-feeder to knit the intarsia, user has to pay
attention to the array of the yarn-feeders, in order to avoid the yarn-feeder at the knitting area to
crash tot eh needle. When the machine uses the normal yarn-feeder, the head may miss the row

63
Dahao Design System Operation Manual

occasionally after the file is compiled.

Intarsia Yarn-feeder: When the machine uses the intarsia yarn-feeder to knit the intarsia, the
crash between the yarn-feeder and the needle can be avoided. Therefore, after the file is compiled,
the head will rarely miss the row, thus improve the knitting efficiency.
At knitting the intarsia, user needs to lead the yarn-feeder into the knitting area in advance.
When the width of the intarsia code is smaller than the safe stitch number, the system will
automatically remove yarn-feeder at compiling, so as to avoid the crash between the yarn-feeders.
2) V Neck

Figure 5-92 V Neck Knitting

Two Yarn-feeders Knitting: This is to use two yarn-feeder to knit the V neck, and the
yarn-feeder number is set inside the intarsia layer, as shown in Figure 5-93. User can set the wide
yarn-feeder for the V neck yarn-feeder in the “Setting of Yarn-feeder System”, as shown in Figure
5-94. User also needs to input the corresponding page number yarn-feeder system at the third
column of the 214 function line.

Four Yarn-feeders Knitting: The both sides of V neck are knitted with 2 yarn-feeders
respectively. Among these four yarn-feeders, two are set in the intarsia layer, as shown in the
Figure 5-93, other two are set in the No.3 & No.4 columns in the function line 214, as shown in
Figure 5-95.

At knitting the V neck, user needs to lead the yarn-feeder into the knitting area in advance.
When the horizontal interval of the V neck is smaller than the safe distance, the system will
automatically perform the split knitting at compiling. The system will not turn to the intarsia mode
until that interval is over the safe distance.
3) Jacquard
1×N Dot-blot: Generally, it is used at the 2-color jacquard. The color 1 is knitted at the front
plate, while the color 2 is knitted at the back plate in the way of 1-gap-N stitch, which forms the
shape like a bag. In the Figure 5-96, it is the backside knitting method of jacquard for “1×3
Dot-blot”, whose style is similar to other jacquard backside knitting method.

1×N×2 Dot-blot: Generally, it is used at the 3-color or multi-color jacquard. Here, we take the
3-color jacquard as an example, the color 1 is knitted at the front plate, other colors are knitted at
the back plate in the term of “Color No.2 + gaps (N Rows) + Color No.3 + gaps (N rows) +color
No.2···”. In Figure 5-97, it is the 1×3×2 dot-blot.

5.4.2.3 217 Thread-holding & Thread-releasing

This option line is only available for the machine with set-up plate.
Thread-holding: There are four clips, two at both sides, on the knitting machine with set–up
plate. The numbers of them are No.1 ~No.4 in the order from left to right. The No.1 and No.2 are
at left, while the No.3 and No.4 are at right. The usage of them is to hold the thread on the
yarn-feeder when the current row is finished
Thread-releasing: This option line is to have the corresponding clip to release the thread
when the current row is finished.
Carrier-out: This function is to drive the corresponding yarn-feeder to the both sides of the
needle plate so that the yarn-feeder could not crash to the lifting set-up plate. Attention: When
using the machine with the set-up plate, user has to drive all the yarn-feeders to the safe area after
the knitting is finished.
Trimmer: On the machine with set-up plate, there are 2 trimmers, one at each side. The left
one is No.1 while the right one is No.2. These trimmers will be lifted to cut off the thread between
the clip and the knitting area when the current row is finished.

Widening”.
Stitch: Number of narrowing stitches and widening stitches. For making the body, the system
deems the narrowing stitches as the positive value, the widening stitches as the negative value in
its default setting. This default setting can be changed in the “Stitch Input Mode” in “Narrowing &
Widening”. But for making collar, the narrowing stitches are fixed to the positive value.
Times: The circle number of that knitting part.
Fashion mark: The margin of narrowing/ widening.
Relief: The number of stitch relieved at narrowing.
Valid Stitches: When the stitch number at narrowing, the system will use the narrowing code
in pattern, otherwise the knitting code should be used. The valid value is zero, representing the
default value of Valid Stitches at Narrowing used at present. The default value of it is set at
“Knitting craft”.

7.2.2 Outline Preview

The system will provide the real-time outline of the clothes according to the changes at the
imported data and the parameters’ values. Please refer to Figure 7-1.

8 Make the Module

8.1 Rules of Module

Module-making is the process that uses the module codes (No.120~No.183) to define a group
of complicated knitting actions. The module-making shall follow the certain format, and only
combining with the option lines can the system create the correct module. The following is the
specific requirements:
The definition of module shall start from the upper side of the ending line of the current
pattern. And color code of the module shall be the codes from No.120 to No.183.
At first draw some module color code according to needs, then leave two empty rows
above and start writing the knitting action from the third row
After writing the knitting actions, user needs to leave another 2 rows above and inputs
the color number at the module
Move the upper row to input the marks of action cycle. The No.1 color means to cycle
from left to right, while No.2 color means to cycle from right to left
Again move to the upper row to input the number of row for longitudinal translation. If
it is not necessary, user will not need to input it
Set module mark, module page number and the number of the translation stitch in the
knitting action in function line 201
Set other option lines according to needs.
As shown in Figure 8-1, a module shall include start row, definition of knitting actions,
number of module color code and module mark at least. Besides that, the module shall be defined
above the ending line of pattern.

120
Dahao Design System Operation Manual

At defining the module, if the option line parameters are set, they will be used when the
module is expanded; if not, the option line parameter in the pattern will be used at that time.

Combining the “longitudinal translation row number” and the “horizontal movement stitch
number”(Number 1~7 means the right translation at 1~7 stitches; number 11~17 means the left
translation at 1~7 stitches) will have the system to move the module unit with the corresponding
distances in the vertical and horizontal directions, at each cycle of the module unit. It is shown in
Figure 8-5. If user doesn’t set the “horizontal movement stitch number”, the setting of the
longitudinal translation row number will not display the left or right.
