5.4.2.1 201Economize
At making the designs, some patterns appear in cycle, like the rib at body bottom and the rib
at cuff. For these parts, the system always needs to knit them for several even many dozen times.
If we set “Economize” in the option line 201, we will only need to draw one pattern unit instead of
60
Dahao Design System Operation Manual
drawing all the repetition patterns on the design. In Figure 5-87, it is to set the circle of the rim at
20 times.
The “Economize” should be started at the odd number row at CNT and ended at the even
number row of the CNT. Meanwhile, user has to make sure that the position of the yarn-feeder at
circle end shall be same to that at the circle start.
If the pattern for repeating has nesting structure, user will have to set the internal cycle
number and the external cycle number at the 1st column and 2nd column at 201 function line
respectively. As shown in Figure 5-88, the “heart-shaped” pattern will be repeated for 3 times and
the pattern after the repetition will be cycled for 10 times again. Please refer to Figure 5-89 for
reference.
If two “Economize” are connected and equal in times, they should be set at the “Inner
economize” and “Outer Economize” respectively, as shown in Figure 5-90.

This tool is to check whether the inputted craft data match to the parameters. With this tool,
the system will also display the height and stitches of each part at current clothes, stitches at
double part, the reserved stitches at left\right arm and other information for verification.
7.2 Basis
In this table, user can input the craft data of left body, right body, left collar and right collar.
When user selects “Body Symmetry”, the data of the right body will be invalid and the system will
draw the outline of the clothes according to the data of the left body; with the same reason, if user
selects “Collar Symmetry” the data of the right collar will be invalid and the system will draw the
collar according to the data of left collar.
When user clicks the “Left Body” or “Right Body” at craft data table, the correspondingly set
contents of the big body parameters will be displayed at the “Basis”; with the same reason , when
user clicks the “Left Collar” or “Right Collar” at craft data table, the correspondingly set content
of the collar parameter will be displayed in the “Basis”, as shown in Figure 7-3.
81
Dahao Design System Operation Manual
Revolution (Row): The revolution number of this part. User can set the craft input method
(in the term of revolution number or row number) at “Revolution Mode” in “Narrowing &
Widening”.
Stitch: Number of narrowing stitches and widening stitches. For making the body, the system
deems the narrowing stitches as the positive value, the widening stitches as the negative value in
its default setting. This default setting can be changed in the “Stitch Input Mode” in “Narrowing &
Widening”. But for making collar, the narrowing stitches are fixed to the positive value.
Times: The circle number of that knitting part.
Fashion mark: The margin of narrowing/ widening.
Relief: The number of stitch relieved at narrowing.
Valid Stitches: When the stitch number at narrowing, the system will use the narrowing code
in pattern, otherwise the knitting code should be used. The valid value is zero, representing the
default value of Valid Stitches at Narrowing used at present. The default value of it is set at
“Knitting craft”.
The system will provide the real-time outline of the clothes according to the changes at the
imported data and the parameters’ values. Please refer to Figure 7-1.
It is the stitch number of the rib at the lowest part of the cloth.
82
Dahao Design System Operation Manual
If the reserved stitch value at the shoulder becomes negative due to that narrowing stitch on
the body is over the range, or if the style of clothes is special that the reserved stitch number at left
arm is unequal to that of the right arm, the user shall reset the center line of the cloth. The center
offset is the travel amount from the default center line of cloth. Moving to left is displayed as the
negative value, while moving to right is the positive value. In Figure 7-5, it is the effect of
offsetting for 15 stitches.
Offset to

In the system, there are 7 default types of rib, which are F rib,1×1 rib, 2×1 rib, 2×2 rib, 3×2
rib, 3×3 rib and full needle. User can select it according to the needs.
Setting this part is to receive the better transition between the rib knitting and the body
knitting. There are 8 kinds of rib transition, which are normal knitting, double-side jacquard, 1×1
dot-blot, 1×2 dot-blot, 1×3 dot-blot, 1×4 dot-blot, 1×5 dot-blot and normal knitting 2.
Double-side jacquard transition includes “All”, “1×1—A”, “1×1—B”, “Tubular”, “Tubular+
dot-blot” and “dot-blot” when being used at the knitting body. The transition part of dot-blot shall
be the corresponding jacquard knitting mode in the dot-blot kinds when being used at knitting the
body.
83
Dahao Design System Operation Manual
According to the requirement of the style and the sewing craft of clothes, user always needs
to array the rib at front or rear at knitting. The system has preset 7 kinds of rib array methods,
which are “1 front firstly”, “2 front firstly”, “3 front firstly”, “1 rear firstly”, “2 rear firstly”, “3
rear firstly” and “bevel angle”. The Figure 7-5 and Figure 7-6 are “1×1 rib 3 front firstly” and
“1×1 rib 3 rear firstly” respectively

Dahao Design System Operation Manual
Front Knitting & Back Knitting: Set the narrowing code at front knitting or rear knitting. The
narrowing code could be module code. User can define any narrowing part as the module and save
those modules into the module edition device of system. After that, user can directly use those
module color codes at anywhere the user needs. The system has defined some modules for binding
off and neck bottom narrowing. Please refer to Chapter 7.4.3“Bind-off Mode” and Chapter 7.4.4
“Mode of Roundish Neck Bottom”.
Mark: Set the color code used as mark.
Switch Code: For front knitting, the switch code will shift the codes from No.61~No.64 to
the codes from No.101~No.104; for back knitting, the switch code will shift the code from
No.91~No.94 to codes from No.105~No.108, as shown in Figure 7-28.

Yarn-feeder Direction: Widen according to the movement direction of the yarn-feeder. If the
yarn-feeder moves from left to right, the stitch will be widened at the left margin of the clothes; if
yarn-feeder moves from right to left, the stitch will be widened at the right margin of the clothes.
It is shown in Figure 7-33.

This is to set the default valid narrowing stitches. Please refer to Chpater 7.2.1 for the content
of Valid Stitch.
When the number of flat narrowing stitch is bigger than the set value at this parameter, the
system will attach a suspension stitch on the margin at flat narrowing, as shown in Figure 7-36. If
the number of flat narrowing stitches is no bigger than the set value at this parameter, the system
will carry out neither the cropping nor the suspension stitch.

In order to try the best to remain the origin shape of the clothes, the system deems all the
bind-off part in the term of module, as show in Figure 7-37. When compiling the looming files,
the system will compile the pattern according to the different bind-off modes. User can also use
“Expansion” to expand the bind-off module. The Figure7-38 to Figure 7-43 are the expansion
pictures for the kinds of bind-off mode.

Module-making is the process that uses the module codes (No.120~No.183) to define a group
of complicated knitting actions. The module-making shall follow the certain format, and only
combining with the option lines can the system create the correct module. The following is the
specific requirements:
The definition of module shall start from the upper side of the ending line of the current
pattern. And color code of the module shall be the codes from No.120 to No.183.
At first draw some module color code according to needs, then leave two empty rows
above and start writing the knitting action from the third row
After writing the knitting actions, user needs to leave another 2 rows above and inputs
the color number at the module
Move the upper row to input the marks of action cycle. The No.1 color means to cycle
from left to right, while No.2 color means to cycle from right to left
Again move to the upper row to input the number of row for longitudinal translation. If
it is not necessary, user will not need to input it
Set module mark, module page number and the number of the translation stitch in the
knitting action in function line 201
Set other option lines according to needs.
As shown in Figure 8-1, a module shall include start row, definition of knitting actions,
number of module color code and module mark at least. Besides that, the module shall be defined
above the ending line of pattern.
120
Dahao Design System Operation Manual
At defining the module, if the option line parameters are set, they will be used when the
module is expanded; if not, the option line parameter in the pattern will be used at that time.
Module mark
1 In pattern row, the entire color code in
the module shall be used
2 In pattern row, some color codes in the
Number of row for module can be used.

Combining the “longitudinal translation row number” and the “horizontal movement stitch
number”(Number 1~7 means the right translation at 1~7 stitches; number 11~17 means the left
translation at 1~7 stitches) will have the system to move the module unit with the corresponding
distances in the vertical and horizontal directions, at each cycle of the module unit. It is shown in
Figure 8-5. If user doesn’t set the “horizontal movement stitch number”, the setting of the
longitudinal translation row number will not display the left or right.

When defining different knitting actions for the identical module color code, user can
separate each action group with the different module page number and set the corresponding
module page number in the pattern. Please refer to Figure 8-10. Please refer to Figure 8-11 for the
expansion figure.
126
Dahao Design System Operation Manual
This is to set the deviation stitch number at certain row in the module. The deviation stitch
number shall be used with the cycle mark. When the mark is 1, the deviation is to right; when the
mark is 2, the deviation is to left. It is shown in Figure 8-12. For the pattern and the expansion
effect, please refer to Figure e8-13 and Figure 8-14.

This is used at the patterns needing partial knitting or the fabric with the bulge effect. The
definition of it shall follow the general rules of module. The character of it is that it adds a No.254
color code outside the first line at the knitting. User can refer to Figure 8-15 for that. When the
No.254 code is at the left, the bulge module is expanded to the upper right direction and the head
should go from left to right; when the code is at the right, the bulge module is expanded to the
upper left direction and the head should go from right to left.
