TITLE:
ILLEGAL LOGGING

GROUP: BOBOIBOY
MEMBER: VIRTUDEZ KIER GABRIEL

Description
Illegal logging refers to the harvesting, processing, or trade of timber in violation of
national laws. It often involves cutting down trees in protected areas, without proper
permits, or exceeding allowed quotas. This practice contributes to deforestation,
ecological damage, and undermines sustainable forestry practices

Illegal logging is a global issue that poses a significant threat to the environment,
biodiversity, and human wellbeing. Many studies have been conducted to understand
the causes, impacts, and solutions to illegal logging. Some of the findings from these
studies include:

1. Environmental impacts: Illegal logging results in the destruction of primary forests,

which are essential for regulating climate, preventing soil erosion, maintaining
biodiversity, and providing habitat for endangered species. The loss of forests also
contributes to the release of greenhouse gases, which exacerbate climate change.

2. Economic impacts: Illegal logging undermines the legitimate timber industry and
results in lost revenue for governments, increased production costs for legitimate
operators, and reduced job opportunities for local communities.

3. Social impacts: Illegal logging can lead to conflicts between different stakeholders,
including local communities, companies, and governments. It also undermines the rights
of indigenous people, who depend on forests for their livelihoods and cultural practices.

4. Enforcement challenges: Illegal logging is a complex issue that involves multiple

actors, including offenders, intermediaries, and buyers. Enforcement is complicated by
corruption, inadequate legal frameworks, and law enforcement capacity.

In summary, illegal logging has far-reaching consequences that affect the environment,
economy, and society. Addressing this issue requires a multi-faceted approach that
involves strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing law enforcement capacity,
promoting sustainable forest management practices, and engaging stakeholders in
dialogue and cooperation.
Objective
1. Aims to raise awareness about its environmental, social, and economic impacts.

2. Promote policies and regulations to combat it, encourage sustainable forestry

practices.

3. Engange stakeholder, and foster community involvement in conservation efforts

4. Identifying the drivers of illegal logging, such as poverty, weak governance, and
demand for illegal timber.

5. Assessing the economic, social, and environmental impacts of illegal logging,

including deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and social conflicts.

6. Identifying the actors involved in illegal logging, such as smugglers, corrupt officials,
and timber companies.

7. Evaluating the effectiveness of existing measures to prevent illegal logging, such as

certification schemes, law enforcement, and community forestry.

8. Developing and testing new strategies to curb illegal logging, such as innovative
technologies, community-led monitoring, and alternative livelihood programs.
Reason

Facebook is a popular social media platform that

can be used by researchers to share information
and findings related to illegal logging. It can be an
effective tool to raise awareness about the issue
and to engage with a wider audience to promote
conservation efforts. Facebook also provides
various features such as groups, pages, and ads
that can be used to target specific audiences and

regions. Additionally, information on Facebook can be easily shared and can reach a
large number of people quickly. Hence, researchers may choose to use Facebook as a
platform to share information and collaborate with others in their efforts to address
illegal logging.
Google platform offers a vast range of resources that are easily accessible and can
provide relevant information on illegal logging. The search engine can quickly generate
results from a variety of sources, including academic journals, news articles, and
reports. Additionally, some of the tools provided by Google, such as Google Earth and
Google Maps, can be used to perform satellite imagery analysis and mapping of
deforestation areas. Overall, Google's platform is a valuable tool for conducting
research in a convenient and efficient manner.
Audience’s Respond

An audience’s response to an illegal logging advocacy presentation can be quite

diverse. Some may feel inspired to support the cause, others, might become more
aware of the issue’s severity, while some might even be motivated to actively participate
in advocacy efforts. To get involved or spread awareness about the campaign.

1. Supportive: Some audience members may support your advocacy campaign for
illegal logging research by understanding the consequences of illegal logging on the
environment and ecosystems. They may align with your message and become actively
involved in helping to create awareness or supporting initiatives to combat illegal
logging.

2. Skeptical: Some audience members may be skeptical about your advocacy campaign
for illegal logging research either because they lack information on the issue or they do
not trust the organization or the people involved in the campaign. They may challenge
your message or seek further clarification on your claims.

for illegal logging research. They may not engage with your message, not take any
action, or become involved in any way.

campaign for illegal logging research will vary. It is important to create a targeted
approach that can help reach out to each of these groups and help them have a better
understanding of the issue.
