I.
Objectives
At the end of the discussion, the pupils should be able to,
a) specify the characteristics of matter;
b) observe the material undergoes changes; and
c) classify the changes of matter due to the changes of temperature.
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic
Changes That Materials Undergo (Solid, Liquid and Gas)
B. Science Ideas
The three state of matter can change its texture, shape, etc., through the changing
temperature. Using weather and iur senses we can classify the changes of materials
C. Science Processes
Specify, observing and classifying
D. Value Focus
Cooperation
E. Materials
Manila paper, marker, ballpen, paper, pictures of matter, visible/actual matters, video
presentation.
F. References
Science 3 Book (Lesson 8: Chemistry _Part 2)
Other Learning Resources
Google, online researched video
III. Learning Activities
A. Engage
1. Drill
Let the pupils identify the pictures posted in the board. The pupils will right there answer in the
board.
2. Review:
Determine the word choose from the three state of matter "solid, liquid and gas"
1. Wood
2. Dishwashing liquid
3. Cup
4. Blocks
5. Nitrogen
6. Oxygen
7. Water
8. Orange juice
9. Carbon dioxide
10. Table
B. Explore
Ask pupils from the following questions. If who will answer the question correctly, will be
given a candy as an reward for them.
What will happen when the solid ice cube melts?
What matter is the air blowed inside the balloon?
What do you call a matter that is the sand molded and become blocks?
Due to what thing is the material change?
2. Present to the class that the changes of materials physically or chemically is due to
temperature, give at least 1 example of materials that undergo from solid to liquid, liquid to
gas, liquid to solid and solid to gas.
3. Divide them into 3 group, let them decide who will be their leader. Remind them of their
role.
4. Watching video clip; https://youtu.be/1eWTe1FaCec
As the teacher presented the video clip, the pupils will analyze together with their groupmates.
They will be having a forum. Pupils will actively participate.
Guide Questions:
1. What is the video about?
2. What are the highlighted words in the video?
3. Explain each words.
C. Explain
1. Each group will choose a presenter to represent their collected ideas and share their insights
about the topic.
2. As each group presented their outputs, the teacher will congratulate the pupils for their
effort and for their presentation. Afterwards the teacher will ask pupils if they agree with the
group presented and if they have a question with regards the topic reported.
D. Elaborate
1. The teacher will explain further the topic that pupils presented and gives an example to
support each group's outputs on how the materials undergo in changes due the changes of
temperature.
2. The teacher will ask the pupils to look around and find something that is an example of
matter that changes physically and chemically.
Note: The teacher may draw this picture in the board.
E. Evaluate
1. , is the rapid change of state from a liquid to a gas.
2. This change undergoes a state from solid to liquid.
3. particles of a solid do not pass through liquid state as they form gas.
4. is an act of liquid that gain enough energy to move independently forming to a
gas.
5. the change of state from liquid to a solid.
Solid to liquid Liquid to gas Liquid to solid Solid to gas
6. Moth balls/Napthalene.
7. Melted ice cube
8. Boiling water
9. Water in the freezer
10. Albatross
