1. How did these people influence Jose Rizal? What personal qualities they have that Jose gained from
them?

a. Don Francisco

 He inherited traits of a hero from his father, such as dignity, self-respect, and courage.
seriousness, self-possession, and a strong personality

b. Doña Teodora

 Rizal's mother taught him everything while he was still a child, including how to read books. At a
younger age Rizal's mother is the reason he became a poet at all. There was an incident. When
his mother was teaching him, she told him a story about a moth. When Rizal was younger, the
story had a big influence on him

c. Paciano

 Paciano took on the role of a second father to his sibling. People who knew him thought he was
Filosopo Tasio from Noli Me Tangere. He was successful in sending Jose (Pepe) to Europe to
study. Paciano would continue to financially support his brother during his younger years.

d. Sisters

 Rizal's sisters influenced him through family solidarity, providing moral and spiritual support.
Even though they had been deported and persecuted, his sisters stood by him the entire time.
His sisters showed him unfailing love and concern. His sisters taught him to be resilient,
enduring, patient, hopeful, and optimistic.

e. Uncle Jose Alberto

 Doa Teodora's youngest brother not only provided wise guidance in the child's regular studies
have influenced him to travel and explore the world.

f. Uncle Gregorio

 Was a voracious reader with an artistic bent. He frequently lectured the eager "Work hard and
perform every task very carefully; learn to be swift as well as thorough; be independent in
thinking (which Rizal did not need to be told); and make visual pictures of everything." This last
point was crucial for an eye-focused boy like Rizal. He took visual photographs of words as he
learned twenty languages and never forgot them.
g. Uncle Manuel

 Because Jose was frail in nature, he was concerned about his nephew's physical development.
He also instilled in Jose a love of the outdoors and an appreciation for nature's beauty.

h. Maestro Justiniano Cruz

 Don Francisco sent his son to Bian at the age of nine to continue his Latin studies with Maestro
Justiniano Aquino Cruz. He is Jose Rizal's formal teacher. He described his teacher as a "tall, thin,
long-necked man with a sharp nose and a slightly forward-bent body."

2. Why did Don Francisco choose Maestro Cruz’s school in Biñan than the existing Parochial School in
Calamba?

When his son was nine years old, Don Francisco sent him to Bian to continue his Latin studies
with Maestro Justiniano Aquino Cruz. Rizal's education in Bian was remarkable. He excelled in all
subjects, particularly Latin and Spanish. As a result, it was not surprising that some of his older
classmates were concerned. Secretly envious of his intellectual abilities His education in Bian
came to an end when he had learned almost everything that his teacher could teach him, so
Justiniano wrote a book. It was time to send Jose to college in Manila, according to a letter he
wrote to his parents.

3. What kind of education Jose Rizal experienced in Biñan?

Rizal received his primary and secondary education in Calamba and Binan. It was typical
schooling for a son of an ilustrado family during his time, with the four R's-reading, writing,
arithmetic, and religion.

4. Explain the two injustices that shaped Jose Rizal’s nationalism.

How these injustices shaped his value on nationalism?

a. Imprisonment of his mother Doña Teodora.

- Jose Rizal's mother was imprisoned for a crime she did not commit. She was so inept that
everyone knew it was all a ruse. The penalty that charge against her was that she plotted with
her brother, Jose's uncle Alberto. Realonda, in order to poison his estranged wife.

b. Execution of GOMBURZA

Yet another travesty the execution of Jose Rizal was the GOMBURZA stands for the names of the
Fathers Mariano Gómez, José Apolonio Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora are three Filipino priests.
This, along with his mother's imprisonment, were terrifying shocks for an idealistic young boy to
experience all at once, and they burned indelible into his soul. He had a sense of an unforgivable
wrong, that the rest of his life seemed lonely, that the misfortunes of his people were to be the
business of his life.
