Designer tips
Please note: that both parts of the basket are crocheted in the round with
split single crochet stitches (please refer to video). At the end of each round
the beginning and the ending are connected (please refer to video).
You can watch a very detailed video on YouTube (please find the link below)
on how to crochet split single crochet stitches, as well as how to join the
beginning and the end of the round, narrated in English with English
subtitles. The beginning of work in the video corresponds to the acorn
basket in this pattern, and to continue you just crochet the necessary
number of stitches as per my pattern using the tips from the video. Please
watch the video till the end, it is shown how to make an invisible join as
well.

Invisible join
Acorn (basket)
Crochet with 6 mm hook.
Rnd 1: 6 SC in MC (6)
Rnd 2: 6 INC (12)
Rnd 3: (INC, 1 SC) х 6 times (18)
Rnd 4: 18 SC (18)
Rnd 5: 1 SC, (INC, 2 SC) х 5 times, INC, 1 SC (24)
Rnd 6: (3 SC, INC) х 6 times (30)
Rnd 7: 30 SC (30)
Rnd 8: (4 SC, INC) х 6 times (36)
Rnds 9-16 (8 rnds): 36 SC (36)
I recommend crocheting the last round a bit tighter so that the edge would pull
just a little.
Cupule (basket cover)
Crochet with 7 mm hook.
I recommend leaving approx. 1 m long tail before you start to crochet, you will use
this tail to crochet a stem.
Rnd 1: 6 SC in MC (6)
Rnd 2: 6 INC (12)
Rnd 3: (INC, 1 SC) х 6 times (18)
Rnd 4: (2 SC, INC) х 6 times (24)
Rnd 5: (INC, 3 SC) х 6 times (30)
Rnd 6: 2 SC, (INC, 4 SC) х 5 times, INC, 2 SC (36)
Rnds 7-10 (4 rnds): 36 SC (36)
Cut the thread, make an invisible join and and weave in the tail with a needle.
Stem
Pull out the tail you left at the beginning of work on the cupule to the right side
between rounds 1 and 2. CH 8 + 1 CH to raise to the next row, start to crochet from
the second chain from the hook, 8 SC. Fasten and cut the thread, leave a tail of
approx.15 cm long. Sew the stem between rounds 1 and 2 symmetrically from the
opposite side; weave in the tail inside the cupule.
